Dopamine Serotonin Testosterone Estrogen

I recently read an interesting article discussing personality signatures. The gist of the article said we are all a combination of the 4 trait constellations: dopamine, serotonin, testosterone and estrogen and gave a brief which characteristics match each trait. It said that people that lean toward the dopamine tend to be explorers. They are thrill seekers, open minded, curious and creative, crave adventure and novelty and are easily bored. Those who lean more toward the serotonin side are builders. They are cautious, and seek that which brings relaxation, belonging and comfort. They're sociable, follow the rules and are respectful. They are creatures of habit and practice self control.
Those who are more significantly influenced by testosterone are directors. They are honest, confident and decisive. Those influenced more by estrogen are trusting, generous, imaginative, social and open minded. They are negotiators and are nurturing and empathetic.
Now, most of us can more closely relate to some of these traits than others, but here's the interesting thing: You are generally either more dopamine or more serotonin and either more testosterone or more estrogen. And when it comes to your dopamine/ serotonin category you seek relationships with people the SAME as you and with your testosterone/estrogen you seek relationships with people OPPOSITE you. So if, for example, you're a dopamine testosterone combo, you will gravitate towards dopamine estrogen people. And while this was originally applied to discover what kind of mates or romantic partners people sought, it was found also to be true of the friendships people sought and maintained.
Of course most of us are a combination of all 4 things but lean at least slightly more one direction than the other. If you want to learn more you can take Helen Fisher's personality test. I thought it was an interesting find and applicable to us all, so I thought I'd share.
