Shaken, not stirred.

At about 3 am a couple of mornings ago we had a little earthquake. It woke me up. I just laid there though, and rolled with it. What else can you do? I was fully aware of exactly what was happening as I've been through a few earthquakes and can tell by the feel what it is right away. The last one I distinctly remember was much bigger (about a 7.8) and my kids were tiny. I called them to me and held them under my arms hunkered down in a doorway like a hen protecting her chicks. And it really SHOOK our house. That was probably the only earthquake I've ever been in that I felt any fear at all. And that was probably just because it flipped my maternal instinct switch onto high mode. Those babies, we mamas really do protect them with our lives. That comes hardwired into most of us, ensuring the survival of the species.
Anyway, this was a much smaller quake, only a 4.7 on the richter scale. So I went right back to sleep afterward. Sleep is very important you know! I was actually a little annoyed that the earthquake had the audacity to wake me. How dare it wake the queen of the house? lol
So all is quiet on the western front once again, and life continues on as usual.
Enjoy your days, sparkies!
