5 Things A Day

By nature, I'm a minimalist. My husband, on the other hand, is a hoarder. They say opposites attract hah!
To combat the tug of war of STUFF, I have a habit of throwing away or giving away 5 things a day.
This AWAY habit started a few years ago with one week of 5 things a day. The next year, I did it for a full month. Now, I do it until I feel that I've made a huge, positive impact in my home. On some days, I will throw away 5 straws that are cluttering up a kitchen drawer, and on another I might throw away old sheets that I no longer use.
This habit has made me feel lighter, more organized and it's now easier to clean my home without being an overwhelming chore. 5 things is SO easy to do quickly and yet, over time makes such a difference.
This morning, I threw away some old service manuals that were in the file cabinet taking up unnecessary room.
To some I might be considered weird, but to me, it feels great so I'm going to continue to do it hah!
