Picking a First Challenge & Timer Based Cleaning Routine
Sunday, September 01, 2019
8/31: Signed up for my first challenge (ever) using the 10-minute challenge for incentive to do a strength building program, which I've never done. Started with Resistance Band exercises. My first accomplishment was finding the Resistance Bands (that I bought years ago) in the 1st box I opened in the basement!
I related to the 10-minute challenge because I can make my house look relatively clean daily in approximately 30 minutes with 5-minute tasks. I even use Amazon's Alexa to set the timers/ reminders. So if I can do that, I can finally adopt a strength building program and deal with sagging areas.
It goes like this:
- 5 min: make beds
- 5 min: unload dishwasher
- 5 min: vacuum floors
- 5 min: shake/switch out throw rugs
- 5 min: dust or clean surfaces
- 5 min: collect & take out trash and recycle.
If someone comes in the house, it's clean enough. I don't stop there, I use it for just about anything (e.g. load or unload washing machine/dryer, restock things like ice, clean/prep the coffee maker etc.
Disclaimer: I adopted the Konmari method a couple of years ago, so most of the house has been decluttered and stays organized.
