Choosing The Right Road To Weight Loss

Thursday, September 12, 2019

I started my " Weight Loss Journey" over 40 years ago...wow, the revelation I have been on this journey longer than the Israelites were wandering in the desert is unbelievable - but it is true..

I am now discovering we always have two choices when we embark on a weigh loss journey.. Two roads, the one most traveled and then there is the less traveled one. Sadly, most of the time, I took the road most traveled because it seemed to offer me what I wanted, eat what you want, exercise when you want, don't track my food , because I know how much I am eating - making excuses for being overweight - and I could use any fad diet that came along that offered me quick results.. the only problem with taking this road is that it did not offer comfort, peace of mind, and results for long term.. so obviously it was not the right road to take..

My heaviest weight was 250 pounds when I started my weight loss journey, and I eventully lost 80 pounds, so then I was 170, for a time period, I was on the road " Less Traveled and was being successful" , however I had a lot of emotional situations, and I gave in and started traveling the "well traveled road", and gained 38 pounds back before I suddenly realized I was on the wrong road once again! So, I changed my route, and started traveling the " less traveled road, only this time I invited Jesus to come with me as my guide.. I had a few bumps in the road, and physical situations which prohibit me from exercise, so my weight loss is very slow now.. In January of this year, I weighed 196... and today when I weighed, my weight was 184.. which is moving along like a turtle, but Praise God we are moving and this time I am still on the less traveled road with Jesus.

Taking Jesus with me on this journey has been the best choice and decision I have ever made. He is a wonderful Accountabilty Partner and He is teaching me so much about making healthy choices - about being Thankful for whatever situation I am facing, because I know He is working everything out for my good - I can Trust Him totally - He gives me peace , whatever is going on in my life, and is teaching me that it is not food that satisfies.. It is His Word and His Presence in my life that makes the difference .

He has taught me about Faith .. " for we walk by faith, not by sight" ( 2 Corinthians 5:7) Sometimes the detours I took has often been covered with obstacles, and the Lord has helped me get over each one of them. I've learned that "faith" walks at different speeds according to the seasons of my life.

So, in summing all of this up, there have been times when my journey has been complicated, challenging , and difficult, but I can assure you when I chose to take the less traveled road with Jesus, it doesn't mean that you don't have challenges, but they have been so much easier and doable - I am so very thankful to have Him with me on my journey and I have signed a very long contract with Him so He will be my guide until I take the next big step into eternity ! There are times as I am traveling this road, I do not always know the next destination, but Jesus does and that's all I need to know !

Proverbs 20:24 " The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way? "

Psalm 37:23-24 " The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand."

I am very thankful that my Jesus directs my steps on our journey.

I want to encourage you today, if you want to take the Journey with Jesus, Just trust Him, and although the road may be unfamiliar and feel uncertain, you ca know that the road He lead you on is the Right Road and He knows the way !

Thank-you do much for sharing. We all have had to make decisions when coming to a fork in the road. The road less traveled can seem pretty lonely but with Jesus that is all we need.

It's so true about following the path with Jesus! I have done the same as you this time, started the path less traveled, and I have never been so successful and so fulfilled.
