Sacrificed. 1 Peter 1:`13-25. December 03 2019
“ Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things.......... But with the precious blood of Christ.”
1 Peter 1:18,19
I don’t usually tell stories in my blog but the following one is to good not to include.
A young man had great dreams for his son. One day he decided to take the lad to work with him..
His job was operating a railway bridge. At noon they went to the observation deck to eat. At once, they heard the sound of a train whistle and knew it would be at the bridge in a few short minutes. So the father gave some very calm instructions to his young son to stay put. Leaving the son on the deck , he hurried down the ladder to the control room, unaware of his son’s attempt to follow him.
Making a final check before pulling the lever to lower the bridge, he saw that his son had fallen from the ladder onto the massive gears that moved the bridge. His son was hurt but conscious.
In that instant , he realized that he must make a decision. Either his son , or the four hundred people riding the train would perish. What would he do? What must he do? Burying his face under his arm, he pulled the lever just seconds before the train came rushing over the bridge. As the train passed he observed people eating and drinking , sleeping and displaying a carefree attitude. As they passed he called out in anguish, “ Don’t you realize? Don’t you care? Don’t you know that I sacrificed my son for you? But no one responded or even looked his way. The train passengers were completely unaware that a boy had died so they could be safe.
My friends this is just a faint glimpse of what God the Father has done for us by sacrificing His Son Jesus, so that we might have everlasting life. His death was not an accident. He gave His life willingly for you and me.
The other difference is that we know that Jesus did this for us. So lets not be indifferent to His sacrifice. Do not keep on doing life by yourself without a care. Someone died for you so that you can live. Accept Him today as your Saviour and you will live forever. Ignore His call on your life and someday you will die and go to Hell. There you will suffer for eternity.
Trust in Him today. He loves you so much that He died for you willingly.
