Ronan's Birthday party

Tuesday, December 17, 2019

My son's birthday party was on Saturday and I was so stressed. Of the 6 people we invited, only 1 RSVPed and two were over an hour late. He had so wanted for these friends to come and while that may not be a first for him, it is definitely a rarity. Everyone, save one, who was invited has some form of special need so I was absolutely on watch for signs of overload. The fact that there was a HUGE party in the same room full of very loud people (it was a toddlers party) and many of the adults were drinking beer really didn't help my stress-level. I was however, a good girl! I had 0 pizza and a small piece of cake. So I didn't feel deprived I got a small platter of cheesy bread and had 2 slices. I also drank water and coffee that I brought with me. I'm going to be honest and say that I really hate when people don't decline an invite, especially when a number is included. It just makes it so much harder for the host/hostess to plan. I was also trying to do the party on a budget and had no clue about how much food I would need.

Ok, I'm done complaining! Otherwise, my son had a great party! We had homemade clay for the children to work with. They had tools and gobs of clay to work with. I thought it would be a great sensory activity with no product expectations and would be something to take home. It worked out really well.

All in all, it has been a pretty good week. I'm really hoping that this next week is a little less hectic and stressful but I've got a plan!

Happy Tuesday!
