A new year, a fresh new start! I know every day is a new start, but I admit I struggle with that mindset. So for me the New Year truly feels "new."
We're setting Smart Goals for the new BLC round:
S= Specific
M= Measurable
A= Achievable
R= Relevant
T= Time Bound
These are ones I want to work on over the next 12 weeks.
1. Drink more water by putting my most loved cups/glasses on shelf at eye level that I have easy access too and keeping ice cubes made. I want to start my mornings with a minimum of 8 ounces of water before any other drink. I can drink my cup of water while heating water for my tea.
2. Less processed sugary, heavy carb filled foods. My first step for this goal is to stop buying these items. If I don't buy them, I won't mindlessly eat them. Writing this down makes it sound so simple, but I know that this is going to be one of the more difficult things I work on this year. Stop. Buying. The. Junk. Food! To help with this, I think we will start using cash envelope shopping for groceries. If we shop with debit card, it's easy to throw stuff in the cart, if I have a specific amount to spend, there will be no choice.
3. More veggies and protein. This goal will go along with my 2nd one; shop smarter for my goals. I want to have various veggies on hand at all times, along with a cooked protein, and turn to them when I feel the desire to snack. I have tried for many, many, many years to "stop snacking," but it's obvious that doesn't work for me. I love snacks, so I'm going for smarter snacking. For protein portion of this goal, when we make dinners, I will make extra serving of the protein portion for next day.
I haven't chosen a weight loss goal with these Smart Goals because I really need to get a healthier lifestyle going for myself. I need to work on healthy habits that I can sustain and make me feel good. My hope is that by starting the year with Healthy Habit type Smart Goals, I will get the added side affect of weight loss. Next round, I think I will be more mentally ready to say I want to lose x amount of pounds and do x amount of fitness. Right now, it's what I am and am not putting into my body that is affecting me the most.
Wishing everyone a successful round of challenges this New Year!
