CHALLENGE COUNTDOWN DAY 2

Friday, January 31, 2020

Yes. I am a day behind again. Life happens. Oh well!

And as life happens, despite my hopes, yesterday was another difficult day. After my efforts at trying new fitness classes this past week, I awoke with sore muscles in my triceps and across my upper back. I opted to have a gentle body day and not go to the Y. Oh well!

Then I tried to schedule a lunch date with my DD since she works very close to the area where I had an afternoon meeting. After several text messages ( does anyone else out here dislike text messaging as much as I do!?) our plans were set only to have her call me seconds later and tell me she had to cancel due to a last minute emergency meeting. Poor girl. I feel like her job is one endless meeting after another. Oh well!

Instead I decided to use the time to get some groceries. I also had a prescription to pick up from the pharmacy. Am I the only one that stands in line and wonders to myself "What on earth are they doing that takes so long?!". This put me in a time crunch, but thank goodness for grocery lists. I had to race through the store for my purchases. Oh well!

This of course led to other time crunches. My afternoon meeting for my new Volunteer experience at our multi-acre Garden & Sculpture Park is a 50 minute drive from our town so I had no time to drop the groceries off at home before heading that way. Oh well!

Things perked up after that. The meeting was a success. We finished our orientation (I passed my background check) and received our name badges. I am very excited about this new adventure in my life. Afterwards I took a walk outside around the park and manager to add 1 mile to my Fitbit. The air was cold & crisp, but there was no wind. I was the only one outside in the park. The silence was obvious except for the crunch of my feet on the sand that had been spread along the walkway to prevent slipping in the advent of ice, but we have not had snow or ice in weeks here in Michigan. Our winter has been very strange.

I headed home. DH helped me unpack the groceries. I missed lunch so we ate an early, but healthy dinner. I sat down and enjoyed a cup of after dinner coffee as I glanced through the new Eating Well magazine I had picked up at the store. I felt like I had redeemed myself and the day!

Then I headed back out the door to an in-home clothing party. I love this clothing line, but the courters were close at this gals house and there was all kinds of chaos as everyone tried on the clothes. I had a glass of wine and avoided all the food/appetizer/desert offerings as long as I could, but ended up on another slip & slide footing to end the day.

Oh well, I thought to myself before I headed to bed. I have not lost HOPE, life happens, and tomorrow is a new day!

This day is over, but for the next one...there will be a next one. Lol - take a deep breath and slow down the boggled aggravated mind - take your thoughts to gratefulness for having two legs to stand on in line and the time to do it being retired - yada, yada, yada, and maybe just the thought of A Spark friend or two that hears ya! Good job dealing with it all! Ugh! Those times when things get so darn slippery! Hear ya!

Moving on to a new day - Feb 1!!! We made it!

Waiting to hear about your new volunteer garden project! Admirable!

I loved our 100 DWL 18 and 19 on HOPE! I generally am a very hopeful person! Cheers, Tricia
