That Moment When

Saturday, February 01, 2020

I had a day recently where I could not feel full despite a healthy breakfast and lunch. An hour after lunch, I felt like I hadn't eaten and wanted a snack. So I filled up my water bottle and drank it down before thinking about a snack.

Yep, sometimes when we think we're hungry, we're really thirsty. Sometimes I need constant reminders of what works.

okay, I don't love water but I do love it's benefits.

Work stress, some lack of sleep last week but I made it to my group run on Monday cuz it was one of the group member's birthday. I've backed out on them a few times due to work so I was determined.

When I got there, I warned them I was really tired, not to worry about going ahead without me but we have a strict rule in our group... no runner left behind. So I did my best not to slow them down too much. The path we take was packed snow and ice so we hit the streets which were clear.

One guy suggested we take it up one of the side streets. When I say up, I MEAN UP! Quite the incline, followed by a couple more inclines. We run in this town every week, I had no idea there were inclines.

I surprised myself at how well I kept up with them. I use the term 'well' loosely. I pushed myself because I just really wanted it to end!

We went out for wings and a beer aftewards. Boy did I sleep good that night!!

I had the day off work yesterday and planned to get a long to-do list done. Nope, My body said "Nope, not happening"! I did go for a short walk, then did the last two Yoga With Adriene videos to complete her annual January 30 Days of Yoga series and then, it was couch time. I finished watching the latest seasons of The Crown and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

It..... felt..... AMAZING!

My daughter is getting married in two weeks. I bought a dress at Macy's in the city a couple weeks ago with her.

I pulled it out today to try on shoes and noticed they did not remove the anti-theft device.Good thing there is a Macy's near me that helped me so I did not have to drive into the city.

I stopped the nice customer service lady because for the first time I noticed the tag showed a size 6. Stunned, I said, "wait, what, is that really a size 6??" she said "yes". I put my hand over my mouth, got teary and giggly. I can't remember the last time I wore a size 6, probably not since my teens.

I texted my daughter this revelation. She said she knew.... "as you picked up dresses that day, I swapped them out for a size 6 BECAUSE YOU'RE A SIZE 6! You work hard at taking good care of yourself"

Now I'm not under the illusion that I'm really a size 6. Another brand, another store, I'll be anywhere from an 8 to a 12 but that moment I saw 6 on the tag took my breath away.
