Celebrating birthdays and a Gotcha Day

Sunday, February 16, 2020

Yesterday was our youngest grandson's Gotcha Day,
celebrating 2 years from his adoption. He and his brother
are my oldest son's 2 children but neither he nor the mother
are capable of raising children. No fault of their own but
their mental capabilities, deafness and other things were taken
into consideration and so the boys were adopted by our second
daughter and her husband. Otherwise, they would have gone
into the foster care system and we would never have been
able to be in their lives. The oldest is now 5 and the youngest
is 3. Our son can see them whenever he wants but he makes
some bad choices and so it is. Too complicated to explain.
We had a wonderful birthday party and they each got some great
toys and money to put away for college. We need to think ahead.
Our morning was spent sitting in the car in a parking lot so that
our egg customers could find us. We were able to sell 30 dozen
eggs, some jams and sauerkraut. I will be ready for warmer
weather soon.
Spark a special Sunday!

I’m sorry...forgot to say that it sounds like your family has found a solution to an unfortunate situation and things are working out for the boys.

My only daughter was adopted out of foster care but the damage was done by then...poor sweet thing...she has accomplished so much in her 32 years and wants so much to be like everyone else.
She lives on her own, with much support along the way, works full time, drives and has had a few boyfriends (all bad choices, imho) and now is engaged. MOST of the time she is just wise enough to know and say that she can barely take care of herself (and her two kitties) and could never raise a child but other times the longing is there...or a boyfriend puts that idea out there.
And now she is engaged..hopefully for a loooooong time as neither of them is ready.
