Wow, weird times huh?!
I am a worry wort by nature but I wasn't too concerned about all this at first. I was fine with staying away from people, I am able to work from home so it was all good.
Then the schools shut down. Then bars and restaurants closed. Then the shelter in place recommendation and non-essential businesses shut down.
That old worry habit kicked in. Worry about everyone's health, physical and mental. Worry about my dad in his independent living facility, alone all day every day in his tiny apartment.
I had a challenging work day last week. A very bad attitude sunk in. I finally took a work break about 3:00 and went for a run in the rain. Nothing like a run in the rain to set you straight. I gave myself a talking to. Worry about what I cannot control will not change anything.
I have been inspired by recent environmental news....
-air quality improved in China
-dolphins swimming off the island of the Italian island of Sardinia
-water in the canals of Venice look clear and fish can be seen swimming around
Nature is getting a bit of a reset. So we should hit the reset button as well while our routines have been interrupted.
I am working on healthy portions of foods and hydrating. I'm not stressing over healthy vs healthy foods available.
Calling friends and family regularly.
I am distracting myself with work-from-home duties and then a to-do list around the house I never make time for.
I'm being diligent with my dental habits. One day I'll have to go back there for a cleaning and don't want it to be worse than it needs to be.
I am making time for strength training... a different muscle group each day.
I am making time for walks and runs. So far it is good to be outside in open air, at a safe distance from others.
I am making time for yoga and meditation. Yin yoga is great for tight muscles from stress.
I would love to stay in my sweats and curl up on the couch in a mood but I'm going to work on better choices and reset.
I hope you and yours and doing well!
