COVID-19 RULE--not siding with political party

Thursday, April 02, 2020

I believe, we more than most, are under more orders regarding what to do and not do under the COVID-19 epidemic but even if we aren't most of us are living within the rules, especially not congregating with more than 10 people (is that still a rule?) and/or social distancing!
Why, all of a sudden, does the Governor of Florida say it is okay for members of a religion allowed to congregate in their house of worship?
With Easter and Passover coming within 2 weeks isn't that asking for a further spread of the, right now, uncontrollable killing virus?
I am glad to see many Christian and Jewish leaders are saying stay home.
Again, this is NOT about the Governor or party but about the rule--do you feel it should be allowed or not followed?
Thanks for being civil--and I forgot to order my chocolate matzoh!

In Bangladesh we till recently had people congregating for mass prayer. I feel that its unnecessary to go to your place of worship to be devout. One can do our devotions any where. There are so many laws in religion being a good person, not cheating etc. Sorry for the lecture.

Recently this government, state and federal, have forgotten that one of the great planks of the American Revolution was the separation of church and state. The lines have been very blurred with this current President. The law to stay home should be for all in any situation that is not grocery, pharmacy, gas, or hospital.

I am grateful to see so many clergy decide to heed the stay at home rule. The supreme being (whatever we call her) can be worshipped anywhere.

Well I will get political...the Florida Gov is a Republican still courting Trump's favor. You think it's a coincidence that FL got 100% of it's requested emergency equipment and blue states are still begging?

His actions are beyond stupid! they are dangerous.

IMHO, places of worship should not have gatherings right now. It is very foolish.

TRIMNUP From what I have observed he is 'following orders'. Also he was very mad when a pastor was fined for holding a service with 1,000 people!

As for WHY the Gov'nor of FL said it was ok... I dunno WHAT he was thinking. I don't understand why he doesn't see how contradictory allowing one sort of grouping to occur. If they are exempt then all people are exempt. Kids will congregate at the beach, young folks will congregate in the bars as they see fit with this sort of leniency.

I am not ashamed to say I am a Christian. I follow Jesus's rule, " Love others as I have loved you." To me, this means loving others at this time and place, is staying home to not allow Covid-19 to spread. Christians are not exempt from sickness or death.

Oh, and I love onion matzohs! I never saw any chocolate ones!

This makes no sense and sounds like a new rule--outside the rule book. Hmmmm… I do think if we are to abide by social distancing, that includes church.... those are people who flock in, not sheep. Just saying.
