Tuning Out the Noise

Monday, June 01, 2020

I have sunk into watching far too much news coverage since this past weekend.

I forced myself out of the house Sunday for a bicycle ride with DH around some pretty nearby paths. It felt good to see trees and ponds and smiling people.

It's been an upsetting day. Inside of six months, 2020 has turned out to be 1918, 1929 and 1968 all rolled into one.

I forced myself out of the house after dinner, away from the news for a walk and some fresh air.

Then sunk back into news coverage again, going down rabbit holes on the internet watching videos that have been posted. I finally threw my hands up telling myself I have got to stop.

I pulled up Yoga Rinse by Yoga with Adriene on Youtube and tried to let it all go. It was a nice few minutes hearing the birds outside my window and the breeze on my face.

I'm so very tired.

I hope you and yours are safe.

emoticon all around!

Thank you for your honesty. I hear you on all fronts. In addition, for me, my mom passed away 10 days ago. We had a very complicated relationship and she pushed my sister and me away again these past years. The world seems dark some days but then I focus on the beauty of the universe, my kids and grand kids and my dear friends. And all seems to fall back into a natural order.
    Sending a hug.

OH I hear you. It is just not mentally, physically or spiritually good for me to watch the news right now. I catch the weather and forget the rest.

Being out in Nature definitely helps, too.

((((HUGS)))) Stay safe. I see the rioting in Chicago and my heart breaks. Ours here in Milwaukee have been pretty tame for the most part.

I don't watch news much anymore. For one thing it's not trustworthy. They blow things out of proportion and make thing look worse than they are. They are extremely biased. They are worse than a tabloid!

The news is so disturbing lately...I try to avoid it as much as possible. Social media is worse because people get into arguments over everything rather than just reporting the facts impartially. People are bored, angry, tired of wearing masks and being socially distant. They are afraid of losing their jobs, or maybe they already have and fear where their next meal is coming from. Not sure I see the value in burning places down and looting to protest what happened - organize peaceful demonstrations and present ideas/solutions to those in leadership that can enact changes instead of being destructive and making everyone angrier...oh well, what do I know?
Maybe being socially distant is a GOOD thing right now...keeps us out of harm's way, whether from the virus or the insanity.

My advice, watch the news once a day and then do things that make you smile.

I have in mind the Serenity Prayer; To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference

take care hun, the world is mad right now emoticon

I’ve had to turn off 24 hour news. It’s just too much too often. We don’t need nonstop news! emoticon
