Beautiful Late Spring
Sunday, June 07, 2020
The deer have been visiting my front yard again. Most recently, six of them were under my deck. One was a very pregnant doe, and the others were young stags. They are beautiful creatures, and I love seeing them ( despite them munching on my landscape). I live on the edge of the forest, so my home is in their territory.
I haven’t posted any recent photos, so here is a very inexpert selfie photo. On my recent hike, my friend Tracy took some great photos of me. Unfortunately her camera is not compatible with mine so I was not able to save or share her photos.
I have been recovering from a leg injury ( hamstring sprain), So I have not been hiking as much as usual. I really enjoyed a short hike with Tracy along the river trail ( recently reopened after pandemic related closures). It was a beautiful hike, and many wildflowers were blooming.
In the distance, there were many families fishing with their children. It was a free day for fishing with no license required.

I am so grateful that I was able to get out and walk on this very beautiful day. I will gradually increase my strength and endurance. The pollen is still very bad, and my allergies are miserable, but yesterday we hiked right after the rain which helped a lot.
We are living in very difficult times, with the pandemic, economic downturn, and social turmoil. I pray and hope that we will all make positive changes out of all of the turmoil. For me, it helps to find serenity by enjoying the beauty of nature and experiencing peace along the river.
