One Year, Three Months. Weight Loss Maintenance.

Yep. I am still maintaining my 140 pound weightloss. One year and three months. I am not bragging, I am praising God for this gift. I still struggle with exercise. That is my next goal. I need to be consistent because I realize that as I get older I need more than weightloss to stay healthy.

I have had Afib for a while now. However, I do get extremely sick. Well, I have been trying to ignore the real cause. I was telling myself it was all in my head, but this last episode made me come to my senses about what the cause is. It is simple Gluten sensitivity. As "trendy" as that may sound, it is the problem. I find that it takes a while to start affecting me. But I can take one day to stop eating anything with gluten in it: Oats, Wheat, Barley, or Rhy, and immediately the symptoms and the sickness starts to vanish. So, I now believe "fat meat is greasy", as they say in the south. I have to completely change my diet and eliminate food with gluten. I will blog my results.

So two things I pray for: Consistency in exercise and a gluten free diet I can live with

    Congrats ! And I heard from people gluten can make on feel sick . My friend said she bloats up when she eats something with gluten.

    Congrats on weight loss and maintenance! Inspiring! I'm on my way too...this year 30 down (of planned 200) (took spark break during early Covid cuz was so angered by both attitudes here & actions in world).
    In terms of exercise, have you thought about adding in weight-lifting? Can try out with cans/water bottles or gallon jugs (not too full, a gallon of milk weighs like 8 pounds, which is NOT a starting weight); maybe a third or a quarter full. Lots of spark videos. Then, after seeing if you like it, invest in some dumbbells. Can lift while doing marches in place. Biceps becoming a bit toned is my latest NSV, and they show quick results. Also, a pedal-in-place while watching TV, etc, was recommended for my dad (he's 85 w/ AFIB) by his Dr., something like: www.healthambition.com/best-pedal-e
    Lastly, if you have AFIB, you may want to check with a Dr. My dad's on several Rx's, primarily for that, high blood pressure, and a few other things. His dad, who was more fit than him, died of a heart attack when he was 60. Gluten may not be the only contributing factor (dad never explored this, but he would never give it up anyway). Good luck!

    Do take care of the afib. And, gluten sensitivity? Know that experience! Eliminated it from my diet in early 2016. Made a BIG difference for me! Did not cause afib; but, created a number of other issues.

    Yeah. Gluten is not my friend. My body is much happier free of it.
