Weekend Wondering

Saturday, July 11, 2020

I kind of wish the title could be Weekend Wandering, but I don't dare. Case numbers are rising again. Even here where we are supposedly doing a slower opening. I get it, people are tired of being cooped up, but that doesn't mean that they should start being irresponsible when let out of their homes. Wearing a mask does not infringe upon anyone's liberty and it just might save several peoples' lives. Especially since anyone could be contagious without showing any symptoms.

Enough doom and gloom - on to worse doom and gloom - I need to do my taxes today. Been putting it off far too long and today is the only time I will have before they are due. The wondering is about WHY did I keep putting it off?

I agree. We are having a surge of the disease here because people are not being careful. I am still self-isolating for the foreseeable future. Good luck on your taxes. I did mine in June because California's were due June 15th so I had to get them done then.

Maybe this’ll make you laugh. One year, just one, I was way ahead of the game on my taxes and very pleased with myself about getting on it right away for a change. As mostly self employed, taxes weren’t simple. I sat on the floor with stacks of receipts etc taken from their envelopes and neatly sorted around me ready to start adding up by category. All of sudden my Maine Coon took it into his head to have a cat frenzy. He went tearing through the house and into my workspace, scattering papers right and left as he flew through them. Off he dashed, leaving my careful work in a shambles. I sat there in shock, gathered the whole mess up and put them in a box to do again another day. My taxes got done at the last minute that year as usual.

I'm with you all but the thing is - "these people" apparently truly believe that a mask is not protecting anyone from anything and they have dug in their heels. They take their lead from the politicians in charge and the mixed messages from the experts - total lack of communication and cooperation from the top! I fear this country is about ready to fall because we've gone from the collective attitude of "we are in this together and support each other to fight the common enemy" to a state of "every man for himself" and INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS!

Sorry to add doom and gloom to your blog, Kerry. Now - get those taxes filed ASAP!

I'm with you on the masks. There are so many styles available now; would those folks be so cavalier if the surgeon operated on a loved one without proper protection? Too many Americans mistake irresponsibility for freedom. Freedom depends upon cooperation and responsibility. Selfishness is not freedom. There's my rant.

Good luck with the "freedom and responsibility" to do those taxes.

You kept putting it off cause you were busy with the housing situation. Moving is a huge deal.

We did our taxes early, right after I recovered from Covid in mid February.

I agree about being responsible. Bored beats dead. Our numbers are rising too

People can be so selfish. Just wear a mask and stop playing Russian roulette with other people’s lives.

This mask thing drives me crazy! Really you can't wear a mask to protect others! People are self centered. I try to educate. It is just like chickenpox. You are contagious before you show signs of illness. Let alone the carriers
I always procrastinate with taxes. I was ahead of the game and then Covid hit and then I went back to procrastination.
Have a great weekend. Good luck with taxes.
