Lava Lake and River walk

Monday, July 13, 2020

I enjoyed another couple of beautiful walks. I hiked the trail along lava lake in the Oregon Cascade mountains. The views were very beautiful.

Kayak on the lake, with South Sister mountain

Broken Top mountain

Wildflowers were blooming.

Purple Penstemon on the trail

Cat’s ear. The inside of the petals are furry.

Today I hiked a different section of the river trail. Some of my favorite sections of the very long river trail are too crowded and too narrow for social distancing. This section of trail is near downtown and very popular, but it is an old dirt road so it is wide enough to be socially distant when hiking.

This wild flower was in among similarly colored flowers that were flax and bachelor buttons. But I’m not familiar with this one.

There is a lot of turmoil in the world right now. Political divisions, economic turmoil, a raging pandemic, and fear. Nature reminds us of peace and tranquility, and of God’s grace. I am grateful each time I go for a beautiful walk.
