Hiked Twin Bridges

Friday, August 07, 2020

On Monday I had a minor surgical procedure to drain the Baker’s cyst behind my knee. The procedure was done under local anesthetic, and went very smoothly. However, both doctors agreed that the main problem is I need knee replacements. I want to wait and replace my knees after the pandemic is under control, but that may not be possible. Right now, I would not want to ask my sisters to travel or fly to my home, and I really need their help if I have the surgery.

Yesterday, my friend Hanne and I hiked the twin Bridges Trail. It is a very quiet trail, not crowded, and I think it is beautiful. Both Hanne and I were sore after hiking it. We remembered it as a very easy trail, but it is 4 miles which is a good distance when both of us are recovering. Hanne injured her back, and has started physical therapy and recovered much of her mobility.

Here are a few views from the hike.

We plan to hike again early next week. We selected a shorter trail.

I don’t know about you, but I have cooked at home for every meal since this pandemic began. And sometimes I get into a bit of a routine. Tonight I am trying a new recipe, so I’m very excited about dinner. It is a sheet pan supper, with roasted chicken thighs marinated in curry powder, on a bed of cauliflower, green olives, and dried apricots.

Will you do both knees at once ? Many friends have done it. No clue how long the recovery is ( one gent was over 90 ) but living in an excelkent retirement facility.

Beautiful photos! My colleague/part-timer Dr M is having hip replacement surgery at the end of September so I hope & pray for uncomplicated recovery...

And I’m starting back w/my own sore knee very slowly - walked 1.4 mi down our road w/Hubby Tuesday night. Felt alright but I gave myself last night off just in case - I’ll be doing an every-other-day routine.

You hike some gorgeous hikes! emoticon
Glad your surgery went good. You two take it easy. Be careful.
Don't rush into knee replacement too soon. Have you ever tried CBD oil for pain? It sure helps. Take 35 to 50 mg. of drops under the tongue. Within a couple days you'll feel the results. We buy some at Vitamin Shoppe. They have a special on right now buy one get one free and others buy one & the other half off. We really like Irwin Naturals and CV science plus. Helps you sleep good too.
    Have a good weekend. emoticon

Are the doctors recommending doing both knees or doing one and the other after you have healed from the first one. I ask this because my cousin had both done at once and it was really difficult. I wish you the emoticon Alison. You are wise to keep up your strength right up to the surgery. I healed so much faster by doing this.

I am also glad to hear that Hanne is able to hike with you again. What troopers you both are!!!

As for cooking............Thank Goodness Ken actually likes to cook and I fill in when he begins to lose enthusiasm.

You are amazing hun. I hope the op becomes a reality for you soon, under these difficult times it's hard to judge when to have such things done.
It seems since this pandemic hit I'm either looking for a shopping home delivery slot, buying the food, cooking it and then looking for the next slot. It seems our world is obsessed with it all. And then when it comes to meal times I'm just sick of looking at it, cooking it etc.......I just have no appetite LOL

Take care of yourself, you are my hero emoticon

I must admit that I am buying more convenience foods... frozen lasagnas, breaded fish, and am less interested in cooking the longer this goes on.

Glad the surgery went well. I hope you are able to put off the knee replacements until it's safer for your sisters to travel.
