Life Goals

Tuesday, August 18, 2020

There are many choices available to us women in this life – but when it comes to your body, there are only two:
Accept it
Or don’t.

You see, if you choose to accept your body, you will soon start to love it, admire it, look after it. These things all follow in the wake of your acceptance.

When you realize that this vessel for your soul, for your spirit, is an instrument of such high design and fine tuning that it boggles the mind to even think about, you will enter into a phase which I like to call ‘peace, at last’.

You will care nothing of spare fat, grey hairs, loose skin.
You will realize, eventually, that the body’s purpose is not to look good, to attract friends, partners, successes – that it is, in fact, your spirit which does all of those things.
If you would only allow it to shine through and work its magic.
Your body, my friends, has but one job, to see you safely through this adventure of life, to allow your spirit to reach its potential.

That is it.

If you are on the path of not accepting your body – you are in for a very long battle – against an enemy you have no power to defeat. Nature, time, biology, fate… You don’t have the weapons to fight those powers.

Wave the white flag.
Give in.
It is then that your life will truly begin.

.... Origin Unknown.
These are not my words. I found them in an email, and, even in my 50s, I sometimes still struggle with this. My hope is that my goals and my reality soon meet in the middle.

If we wave the white flag, give in and give up, we stop trying to get healthier. Why would we quit?

It high school I had the perfect body, slim in all the right places, long legs, nice shape, etc.... at the age of 19 I started putting on weight and didn't know why... I gained 120 pounds in a year while exercising and eating right... Doctors could not figure out what was going on... I became depressed... at the age of 24 they finally figured it out, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)... After meds and research on a diet, I managed to lose 65 pounds and became happy again with my body... Sometimes we don't know what is happening to our bodies and that's stresses us out even more... I was never happy with my body in high school bc i felt i was too skinny and people made fun of me calling me things like toothpick, bean pole, etc.... when i was at my biggest, people would ask me when i was due or say i must be carrying twins... having people think i was pregnant was the worst out of all of it bc I am unable to have children... at both points in my life i was miserable and depressed... at a happy in between weight, I am healthy and happy, just gotta get my blood sugar

Thank you for this reminder. At 65 years I realize there are some things about my body and my appearance I can change, if I wish, and some I cannot and must accept. What is inside - the spirit- is the most important.
