The fall challenge is starting soon, so this is a great time to assess my progress. I started back on SP a year ago with the Biggest Loser Fall Challenge, and I am so glad I did. It has been a great motivator to keep me accountable and to make some new friends. I just had another birthday last week, as well as my 6 month Medicare wellness visit, and my numbers are good. Not pre-diabetic and no meds for cholesterol or high blood pressure, which I attribute to good genes and a firm commitment to my health. When I turned 65, I really solidified that commitment. That was my mother’s age when she passed away, and she was not very healthy most of her adulthood. I am 2 years past that, and reaffirming that commitment. So I signed up for the fall challenge and I bit the bullet and scheduled my colonoscopy. I also took a brain health asessment on AARP and am going to do something each day to exercise my brain. This is really important because there is Alzheimer’s in my gene pool too.

The staying home a lot due to Covid19 has been difficult, and may be even more difficult as we head into the cold, cloudy weather the Great Lakes generally brings after summer is over. I will have to take it one day at a time. I am also going to plan some virtual vacations to places I have visited and places I would love to visit using travel and history websites and You Tube and travel books from the library. I will cook one dish from each area (not a dessert) and try to make it as festive as I can. So those are my plans to continue my journey, and I look forward to sharing it with others traveling thru life with Sparkpeople.
