OK, today is the day! I have been procrastinating for ages about the project of decluttering the basement. There is so much stuff down there now that it is now officially a hazard zone for tripping over things!
I got rid of a few things last week, but today is the day we both started working on it together. So we have committed to short sessions of about 30 minutes, which are much easier to work into our schedule. If we want to work longer we can, but 30 minutes is all we must do. We got a good start today. And we had our essential tools, which are heavy duty trash bags and a few smaller boxes to haul things out of there. We will still keep the majority of it, but a lot of things can go. We need to continually ask ourselves whether we need it, want it, why did we ever buy this, will we ever use this again, or do we need to keep this ugly painting just because Aunt Tilly painted it?

After we make some progress, I will post a progress report. It’s full steam ahead!

Here are the “before” pictures below

Good for you! Do you have Purple Heart donation pick up in your area? My daughter has used them, they come to your door to pick up useable items.
I was under such a deadline to pack and with Covid my ability to take things to donation places or the landfill was restricted. I know I need to do the same. Most of my house contents have been in boxes since June. I think I should make a list of things I definitely need! Warmer clothes and shoes other than sandals top the list!
Half finished crafts I lost interest in, books I won't read again, clothes that are too big, curtains I won't use, decorations and all those unmatched dishes, measuring cups and socks need to go. There is even a place here to donate unused craft supplies.
Bottom line maybe someone else can use them and getting rid of all that extra stuff will make our spaces lighter and brighter. We might even be able to find that thingamajig we have been looking for before going out and getting another one emoticon
    Bravo for having a plan!
