Mountain Bluebirds - 9-22-20

Susan Phillips spotted these mountain bluebirds passing through her yard:
She used a long lens to get such wonderful closeups:
And said that Mama Bluebird stayed a safe distance away keeping a watchful eye on the situation!
We seldom see the bluebirds around my place - I may need to think about adding a birdbath! DH feeds the corvids daily since the pandemic started, so I have ravens, crows and magpies that flock around the house. It's easy to see the "pecking order" in the group. Junior members of the magpie family give way to those with more status (or heft!), and they ALL give way when a crow/raven shows up! I've seen the raven actually stand in the bowl and wait for its mate to show up so it could take food back to the nest. The corvids winter through with us and actually bring us little "thank you" gifts - bottle caps, small rocks, pieces of aluminum foil. Although they aren't as pretty as the mountain bluebirds, they DO make me smile!
