Wandering Moose - 9-24-20

Thursday, September 24, 2020

Moose have been spotted at several places in our area, although I think sometimes they're a little surprised at the attention!

I think this moose spotted Jeff Welton just as he was snapping the photo! Moose have also been seen on the Hurricane Run on Mt. Werner, early in the morning:

And have also been seen up on Rabbit Ears Pass (although they are harder to spot in this photo - there are 5 around the small tree in the foreground):

We've been fortunate not to have many moose encounters in the neighborhood this year. As impressive as they are, town is not the right place for them!

Looks like I'll be doing Spellbinding stories next week - still trying to get the three 2nd grade teachers lined up with times. Since each teacher has her class currently broken into smaller "cohorts" that meet in person on different days, it means I'll have to tell twice as often in order to hit the entire class. LOTS of practice!

Lots of practice for sure... glad the moose stayed away from the towns; a lot safer that way for everyone.

Moose are a huge hazard on the roads in Newfoundland. Deer as well, but a moose will destroy your car.

Hahaha...you would not believe what my dear man and I went through one summer vacation trying to see a moose.
Suffice it to say it involved a plane, a rented car, and two ferries.
    (We went to Canada)
And, yes, we finally saw one.
My sister lived in Maine and had a traveling job and saw many every winter.

These little classes are interesting. I'm glad you will be able to do the stories still, with everything different I wasn't sure how that would work for you.

Oh, that will be lots of storytelling, for sure! They're fortunate to have you.
