Life is short and time is swift. .... Proverb
When Emma met Jack, they were like children, laughing, loving, and vowing to love one another forever. Jack brought her a single rose, gave her his heart and promised there would be no other. For Jack, Emma was as beautiful as a lovely scented rose.
Years went by and Jack and Emma grew old. She shared with a close friend Jack stopped telling her she was beautiful and could not remember when he last complimented her. She became sad and doubted the beauty she once had.
Do we mean to slight those we love and take them for granted or has life become so busy we assume they know.
Do we wait until they are gone and wish if only, we had taken those few precious moments to tell them and show them we love them. Do we listen when they speak, and whisper the words, “You are as beautiful as the day I met you.”
The cold and wintry day came when beautiful Emma lay with her dark hair, streaked with gray, laying lifeless in her bed. Jack sat at her bedside with heavy heart. He looked at her ivory skin, as if seeing for the first time, and leaned over to kiss her gently on her soft lips. Tears fell as he watched his love slip away.
"If I could have just one more day."
If your loved one is still here--why not take a moment to give them a hug, and tell them how much they mean to you---Tomorrow is promised to no one.
