Happy New Year 2021!
Monday, January 04, 2021
Today is the first Monday of the new year. It's already been an eventful year for me. Friday, on January 1st, I came down with something, cold, flu, whatever. Pretty sure I picked it up in a cab on the way to work the previous evening and I didn't thoroughly dowse my hands with antibacterial gel after realizing there was used tissue in the door handle. YUCK!!! I should have gone straight to the lady's room and scoured my hands after that ride, I don't know what I was thinking.
Friday night I definitely had a fever. That was fun. Tossed and turned all night so did not get a restful sleep. Even so, I drank lots of fluids and I think using my neti pot and gargling with salt water Thursday night may have made it harder for this bug to take hold.
By Saturday morning I felt quite tired but no more fever, no more aches, though there was a lingering headache. Sunday, still congested but headache is gone. Awesome. Then my period decided to start a few days early! Cramps! Today, I can breathe through my nostrils again. I did my neti pot again and icky yellow gunk was rinsed out from where ever that stuff hangs out up in there.
I am for sure feeling a hell of a lot better. I am grateful for the downtime I had rather than having to contend with all of this while going to work. By the time I get back to work this week, it will be like nothing happened haha

Little do they know.
We did get out of the house for a little bit this morning and I picked up my first monthly bus pass here in Hanoi finally! No more digging around for change to give to the conductor. Looking forward to joining pay day. Excited to start our fitness routine. Looking forward to joining this new gym. Looking forward to this chicken soup I'm about to ladle out of this big pot.
My warmest brightest wishes to all of you. It's been a while. Last year probably have been the worst I've ever experienced in my lifetime. My mother died and that will forever tinge every event in my life. But I hope this year, there will be many sweet things to go along with the bitter bits that are a natural part of life. For all of us.
