Day 22: Feeling Good About It

Friday, January 22, 2021

"I have learned, as a rule of thumb, never to ask whether you can do something. Say, instead, that you are doing it. Then fasten your seat belt. The most remarkable things follow." (Julia Cameron)

Hello, my lovely friends!

A beautiful and joyous day on Wednesday turned into stress on Thursday for me. Like so many, I felt good about things on Wednesday and full of hope, but that feeling for me lasted only a day. This all has to do with the funeral for my grandpa and nothing else. On Wednesday while watching all the festivities I put together the song list for the video. My grandpa was a huge fan of big bands and especially Frank Sinatra. Since I also enjoy that music it was very easy for me to pick the songs. I was really stuck on finding 15 songs, but then my mom said his birthday was the 14th and he died on the 15th and maybe we should just keep with 14. Of course, she’s right and they all fit together. Here’s the list in order…

1. What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong

2. Let Me Call You Sweetheart by Patti Page

3. Oh My Papa by Marty Robbins

4. In the Mood by Glenn Miller

5. Smile by Nat King Cole

6. We'll meet Again by Frank Sinatra

7. As Time Goes By by Louis Armstrong

8. Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall by the Ink Spots

9. Boogie Woogie by Bill Black Combo

10. Dancing Cheek to Cheek by Louis Armstrong and Elle Fitzgerald

11. Unforgettable by Nat King Cole

12. Someone to Watch Over Me by Ella Fitzgerald

13. I'll Be Seeing You by Frank Sinatra

14. My Way by Frank Sinatra

On Wednesday night I sent Cuinn the list and he already downloaded the music. Thursday morning woke up feeling positive about the world and ready to tackle my day. After doing some chores around the house it was time to start scanning the pictures to the laptop and then figuring out how to get them to Cuinn by today. This is the third time the two of us have put a video together for a funeral service. The first time was for my dad and that was quite the job. I think we had nearly 200 pictures and enough music for about 90 minutes, it was a huge job. My mom bought this huge scan/printer/copy machine thing and it has come in handy for us, but I only use it to scan photos and copy things. For some reason, the printer and the laptop didn’t want to hook up to each other through the wireless connection and I worked on things for almost thirty or forty minutes and that’s when the stress came in. I was thinking what am I going to do if I can’t get this going? But finally, a light bulb went off in my head and I knew I could just hook the cords together and PRESTO it started scanning the pictures. Although the pictures were all scanned to the laptop I still had no idea how to give it to Cuinn because there were 80 pictures and trying to email them would just be a mess.

In the afternoon we got a surprise phone call from Cuinn on his lunch break at school. He’s really enjoying being a teacher and has decided to go back to school to get a Master’s in Education and become a Science teacher for elementary school kids. Since both of us have Google accounts Cuinn put a link and folder together and I was able to transfer all the pictures over to him. I texted him to see if he got the pictures and he did. YAY! Finally, the day of stress was lifted, and once again I was feeling good about things. Cuinn will work on it this weekend and get it done by Monday. We’re hoping that he can just link it up and send it to me and to the funeral place. Fingers and toes crossed that it works out for us.

Be safe and well! Lots of hugs and love to you all!!!
