Day 23: A Little Less Festive

"Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good." (Maya Angelou)
Hello, my lovely friends!
While scanning the photos of my Grandpa for the video, across the room several snowmen were staring back at me with their little grins and eyes made out of coal. I’m surrounded by Christmas decorations that are ready to be boxed away until next Christmas. Yesterday morning while waiting for my mom to come down for breakfast, I took those snowmen down to the basement and started bringing up the empty boxes and bins. Although I love the Christmas decorations, at some point it no longer feels festive, but more like laziness and I think that’s where we’re at now. Now that the photos and music are in Cuinn’s hands we have the whole weekend to start packing Christmas away. By the way, it just looks weird with a Valentine’s Day coffee bar theme and Christmas decorations in the rest of the kitchen area.
My job is to take everything down and put it on the dining room table and my mom sits and packs it up. In 2019 we bought a huge bubble wrap roll and wrapped everything before packing it away. The two of us were talking about the funeral coming up on Thursday and my mom wanted to have a small dinner at our house with just my aunt and uncle after everything is done the following weekend, but guess what day that is? Yep, my birthday. I’m heading into the final year of my 40’s, holy cow! I truly want to make this year the year it finally clicks and I work on myself. I want fifty to be amazing and I have this whole year to do it. My mom said that maybe we should celebrate my birthday just the four of us, it might be what we all need. My wheels are turning about the menu for the dinner. I normally cook something special on my birthday and it usually involves a pasta dish of some kind. Maybe lasagna?
If the weather is warm in the morning I might go outside and pick up the rest of the lights that I have in two trees and a couple of bushes. I almost got everything down the other day, but the winds kicked in and it was cold out there. I’m not the only one who has my Christmas decorations still up outside, almost the whole block does. The other night I was taking out the trash cans for the next day and a house down the street still has its lights on. I guess the HOA is being nicer about the lights this year.
Be safe and well! Lots of hugs and loves to you all!
