Hikes, and Vaccine Envy

We had a blanket of fresh snow this morning. And a beautiful deer was out to greet me when I went to shovel the driveway.



Are you feeling vaccine envy? I admit it, I am! The CDC has recommended that the vaccine be made available to all seniors over age 65. My state is delaying that. Our governor has ordered the vaccines go to teachers before seniors; she wants the schools to reopen.Now a federal judge has ruled that prisoners must be vaccinated immediately, before teachers and before seniors. I was originally scheduled to be eligible to sign up for the vaccine on about March 1; I am certain that this legal ruling will delay the date. Very disappointing! And I am trying hard not to be jealous of people that have already gotten their vaccine, many of whom are younger than me. I know that the more people that are vaccinated, the more that this virus will die down. I am ready for life to return to normal! Like so many of us, I want to travel again; I want to hug my friends; I want to visit my family.

Yesterday, Hanne and I hiked in the Tumalo Canal historic District. It was cloudy so we did not take many photos. But I was inspired by some of the images of juniper trees growing in the middle of lava rock formations. To me, it was an image of life persisting through difficult times. Stay healthy and thrive!
