You can do it too

I say this because in May of 2016, when I was 70, Blue Cross Blue Shield became my health care provider. They had me do a self health assessment survey and my assessment gave them a lot to be concerned about. I was overweight, had high blood pressure which I reported, and other factors such as high cholesterol which I also reported also gave them concern. They recommended that I seek medical advice. When my daughter heard this she told me that I should ask my doctor's advice about taking up jogging. She lived 2.5 hours away from me in Williamsburg Va. and challenged me to work up to a point where I could joined her in running a 5K in November. I found the SPARKPEOPLE site and the team for jogging. That was the start of my remarkable progress where I can now jog a 5K in under 40 minutes and am in such excellent health, that my doctor now says that my health factors are better than his. Just saying that if I can turn my life around within 5 years at age seventy, so can you.

A spiritual note. I made a spiritual and/or charitable life to be the cornerstone of living for me and it has served me well. It is more important than simply enjoying all the progress and great benefits which the physical sciences have bestowed on mankind aimlessly. In general, mankind has a longer more comfortable life, a life freer from physical pain, and a life filled with interesting pastimes and educational experiences. However, there is no evidence that the majority of individuals are happier, that families are more united, that political bodies are wiser, or that disease and wars are less likely than when people seek out the peace that comes from within their spirit. With the onset of the corona-virus, the truth is we all need an inward sense of well-being, a purpose for living, a feeling of connection to our community and faith in our leaders.
First of all, a connection to a religious institution or charity, whether online or not, best fills that need.
Also important is to, guided by your spirit, support your favorite local leaders, to blog or otherwise communicate with and support your Officials. Make your opinion count with your voice. Your country needs at least that much from you . Bob

A political note. I voted for Trump and Republicans but my wife voted for Biden and the Democrats and she won. Our votes cancelled each other's out, but we both agree that since we each voted our State looks better because more citizens voted. I am a proud Capitalist who believes in charity but that emphasis should be on providing the conditions and means for making people self sufficient. I do support Biden's stimulus goals but in a more targeted form that benefits the economy.

For a personal goal, I want to:
Be a person who understands and forgives;
Be a person who has a nurturing heart;
Be a person who listens instead of judge's;
Be a person other people can count on, and most importantly by your example, are inspired to leave still other people better off.

I will Start...
with a vision of a community that becomes more nurturing and stable as a result of many following your example;
with a vision of communities where the opportunity for all citizens to grow and prosper is not denied by the actions or non-action of the unwise;
with a positive vision of communities that will provide an educated and confident citizenship that respects the teachings of Jesus and that has faith in the well being of of their children and grandchildren, and future generations to come.

I will act upon this vision by...
reading stories of virtuous people who you admire, including stories by Christians, and note that their strengths and values that make them admirable can be made your own;
by ignoring the worldly impression that you as an individual are powerless to effect a positive change in your community or country, and act with faith that participation in the election of politicians (Local and National) who best share your views works to the benefit of all, and with faith that your example will inspire other good citizens to do their part also.
by improving your strengths so that your efforts will bless others and so that everyone following your example can prosper.

NOTE: I develop my own view of right and wrong and now consider myself an Independent, but I know that others can disagree with my idea of what is virtuous, so do what you feel is right based on your own feelings of what is right. It is your choice, I only ask that you be willing to challenge your own opinions by giving weight to opposing view points before you make the final decision when the time is ripe. I consider views expressed on both CNN and FOX for the well being of my self education and feel this world will be a better place if others follow my example.
