Spring Cleaning Time

I will be honest - I really didn't do much deep cleaning last fall. So...especially since I just had a week where I couldn't bend my head down, it's time to start my spring cleaning. It's starting slow - I am still working on my bedroom. I think all my stuff had babies in the dark.

My Mom was in her house for 60 years before we moved her to an assisted living place. It was a three bedroom bungalow with a basement and a 1.5 car garage. At it's fullest, there were 6 of us living there. At the end, it was just Mom. All the closets had her stuff in them.

Mom first started calling me in a panic; she couldn't find her checkbook. I realized how much stuff was in the house just looking for the checkbook. One of the things I came across was mortgage payment receipts. The house had been paid off in the early '80s. Mom - you don't need to keep these. Thank goodness I started when I did. Otherwise the move would really have been overwhelming.

Remembering this, I don't want my girls to have to go through a mountain of things when something happens to me. So, I keep this in mind as I go through my stuff. Onward and upward...!
