Everyone on a weight loss / new life style journey will hit that dreaded plateau sooner or later and sometimes if you have a lot to lose many times. You can decrease calories and do more exercise or increase calories to shake things up a bit. Be sure you are as careful with portions as in the beginning. The longest plateau I had was toward the end near goal, two weeks. I started at 265 and was down to 160 with 5 to go. I finally had a drop of 2lbs then 1 a week until I reached goal. To get discouraged and give up after all the hard work would have been crazy. I kept going and if you keep going that scale will move again for you. Just enjoy each day of not feeling stuffed , bloated and depressed due to caving in to a piece of food. BELIEVE.

If Not Now, When!

I always try to think of the plateaus as my body adjusting to new patterns of eating and exercise. I realized I was probably eating too little (more like 800-900 calories a day) and gradually ramped it back to 1100-1200 (I'm 68, only 5'3") and found it was easier to sleep, easier to be more active and energetic and cheerful, easier to cope with stressors.... and lo and behold, my weight has started going back down... slowly but in the right direction. So the plateau was probably a good thing to jolt me into positive steps.

I just broke through a plateau this week -- and I want to remember this so that NEXT time I hit a plateau, I'm reminded to stick with my plan and I will move forward.

I have hit another plateau as I have returned to work and my body is not liking my eating routine there. At home I have lots of little meals during the day. There I grab a bite when we have time I make a sandwich and cut it into fourths. I can usually find time to eat one section between appointments. Also, I will grab a peppermint that we have there for the clients and I need to stop that.

My longest plateau lasted for 6 weeks. I keep kicking myself to know what I was doing wrong, but I believe I had dropped a lot of weight too fast and my body was just working on adjusting.

I am at a good weight for me. I do not want to be too skinny as I do not want to look sickly. Also, you do need a little meat on the bones in xase you get sick. I did manage to get rid of the belly and a lot of the large butt. I keep enough of that to have a shape

Kick in a weight loss with overloading on food one day. Lots of protein and your body will kick start into weight loss if you eat properly after that

Not everyone is built to be skinny like all the actress and models. Look at your family to see what is your shape. My mom had a great figure, perfect hips, breast and waist proportions, just like her mother. My sister and I took our shape after our fothers mother which is entirely a different shape. /we both have a laugh about it, mom could have given us her shape. but we both had a great life, loved by both sides of our family and so our hips are bigger, so what.

Clear thought: I don't want to gain the weight back ever, so the plateau where my body takes time to 'get used to" new weight is a FRIEND INDEED. I can live easier with that image. Thanks. emoticon
