Love it!! Years ago when I first time ever confronted my weight patterns, I joined a group that met weekly for about 8 weeks. 6 Weeks into our program our leader asked us to do something the next week: bring in a food from the provided list that equaled the weight we had lost!.... That 5lb can of shortening was a real eye opener (!) for me and my friend had a 10lb sack of flour!! Gees...!! And it was also for a Great cause: the list were needed items that supported a half way House. Over all, the 10 of us provided a fantastic holiday meal for those residents, as we also donated $5.00 each for the turkey and trimmings! patti

OH that is a super NSV!! I hadn't even thought of birdseed and ice melt as unit of measure... but I do remember a time 40+ years ago as a teen, when I could easily hoist up a 1/3 square bundle of shingles at 80 pounds a bundle AND climb up the ladder. So your achievements are awesome!! Way to go and thanks for sharing and encouraging!!

Great story. So inspirational, especially this time of year when we stuggle to keep our guard up. Thanks for the inspiration. There a so many couples who both struggle with weight, including myself and my husband.
I'm not there yet, but I'm closer than I was yersterday.
It's really a non scale victory, but it does involve weight. DW and I went shopping last week and bought a couple twenty pound bags of bird seed, the kind with handles. She thought I was whining about my back again and willingly grabbed them and put them where I told her to. When done, I went and grabbed them and put them where I really wanted them to go. She wanted to know what's up, why did I get her to do that? I said I wanted her to realize how far we've come. We've each lost over eighty pounds and that was a feel for what it would be like to gain just half of it back. Then on Sunday in our travels we picked up two forty pound bags of ice melt. Neither of us could even lift them both at the same time, let alone carry them. Four years before for her and twelve for me, we were both doing just that in the form of lard... all the time. Wow!
