Iím Karen. I went from a very active job to sitting 8 hours a day reviewing charts.
Iíve gained 40 lbs in 2 years, have lower leg swelling and my knees hurt when I go to stand up. Seen the doc recently and with everything else my blood pressure was up.

Guess what he told me? You guessed right, I need to lose weight.

Found this Team. I said to myself I could lose 25 pounds a few times and I joined.
I also noticed the team leader was inactive and requested the job.

Any ideas, tricks, motivational tools, articles, blogs, recipes, books, or just kind words of encouragement that will help us in our wellness journey please feel free to share.

I wish everyone success on their journey and I will always be cheering for you! emoticon

I'm Kathy. 62 years old, I've been overweight for quite some time now. Always conscious of it, I've been here on SP for along time, but haven't been self-motivated to do anything real, or at least lasting, about this weight. I like to eat - that's the basic truth of the matter. But I would look so much better, and feel so much better if I'd lose at least 30 pounds. I just came up with a starting strategy, nothing spectacular: Drink more water, at least 64 oz / day. Have my usual tea and toast for breakfast, lunch will either be yogurt with granola or cottage cheese and fruit. Supper will be whatever I fix for my hubby, but I will use a smaller plate, and keep those serving sizes smaller. Snacks will be apples or grapes, and maybe an occasional (3 days at first, then 2 days, then one day/week) cheat with salty or sweet snack so I don't give up on the diet like other times. And I want to get back into walking. Just plain old walking here at first, then can add more to it once I get it down. That's pretty basic, but know if I can do just these things consistently, I'll start losing.

i'm Annie. i gained about 40 pounds over the last year and i am looking to lose all of it before i turn 50 next year. some days are a struggle to keep motivated and going. for a while, i could only do walking, under doctor's orders, until i had some blood tests done. i just got the okay to do more walking and to actually do other exercise, just a few weeks ago. i know that i did not put the weight on overnight, so i know it will not come off overnight. i am also a mom and i want to have more energy, stamina, strength to keep up with my very active daughter. i had to get larger sized clothes this year, with the help of a good friend of mine. even when i was pregnant with my daughter, i was not at the weight i am now. now some of my larger sized clothes are getting big on me. so i know i am on the right path to getting to my goal weight. i will get there.

I'm Amy. I started sp a few wks ago again. I'm looking to lose 30 lbs in the end. My mini goal is 150 lb, final is 130 lb range. Feels like struggle get there. I've tried a few yrs but wasn't too constant for knowing what I eat. These past 2 yrs been harder, total sedentary life due bad fall from epilepsy so my pills actually work against be but I try, get tired a lot easier than most ppl. So this is 2nd yr not working and finally doing fine for close yr now which I can drive and moving new state in Dec so I'll be able work again so get me out of a very sedentary lifestyle and eat healthier items. At parents and they seem always eat meat, potatoes, fish type stuff, I don't care for much but some reason every time I eat that type I gain weight very easily. I'm used being big cities where there's a variety lots diff foods so I'll be happy when move to have my own food choices again. Sometimes I'll rest 1-2 days a wk and either stay same weight or gain so that's why I try exercise everyday. So sometimes if feeling kinda lazy I'll at least just do dog walk, it's something get metabolism up. A couple wks ago was at 162, trying get below that. Keep staying in 163-164 range, hard to budge. At least from not really eating much food I can say my waist goes down gradually in past few months, was around 36" waist and almost 32". Got one those muffin top belly so if i can get that reduced I'll feel really good, even though don't notice going down but must if waist smaller.

Don't stress! Are you at a plateau? What type of activity do you do? What kind of food do you eat?

Kindly give me a reply with the answers and we'll go from there. Again, don't stress!
