Dianne, I almost saved your post for tomorrow because DD1 surprised us at 10 AM and she just left. She thought DD2 was physically moving out tomorrow so wanted to see her before that happened. We will move all of her stuff but she won't move until the beginning of September. emoticon
Nellie's too young to paint anything recognizable for our guest room but she could paint emoticon a switch plate for the day care, great idea. How old is your DD1? Happy belated birthday to her and happy belated birthing day to you. emoticon Yes, I do believe the "bees" were wasps but it's just easier to call anything that buzzes a bee. emoticon Your SIL isn't alone in his stir craziness, many people feel the same way during this pandemic. Although it is not good there are still eye issues, it is good that it is down to stress related and no longer shingles, that was scary. I wish we were closer so your DH could help us with our computer emoticon issues as well but more importantly, so I could see you! emoticon Hand made flannel receiving blankets with coordinating burp cloths is a great gift without a check, you were very generous. Thank goodness for your generator and for the locations where your partial trees fell. Your township really moved quickly on tree removal! Will they come back again for those who didn't move so quickly? Do you know how high the winds were? My dad loved watermelon pickles, the rest of us definitely did not. I like sweet pickles but watermelon pickles have a very unique flavor. we certainly enjoyed the cooler weather after that horrid streak of high heat emoticon and humidity. We are enjoying the cooler evenings right now as well. Does DD2 have a favorite treat at Culvers? emoticon We like their plain vanilla with fruit pies or simply with fresh fruit. You made church emoticon calls? Was that in regard to the music director or just keeping in touch with fellow parishioners? Your description of walking around to see downed trees flashed me right back to last July after our storm. emoticon There are still trees down all over but of course they aren't blocking the roads any more. We have a pair of goldfinches here as well, it's the first year we have had them. Sadly, we thought the pesky crows were gone but they are beginning to come back. DD2 was fascinated with five that lined up on our neighbor's fence while we ate dinner last night. They were really squawking when I was playing in the sand with Nellie so something was definitely up. Often they attack the owls so I hope that wasn't it. Why would you be sore after all that storm clean up? You are an exercise Goddess in great shape, and I don't mean round! Your wheelhouse would include impromptu virtual baby shower hosting but I'm glad it didn't come to that. There are so many weddings emoticon in limbo right now, I am so glad I am not a bride, groom or parents of either at the moment. We still haven't heard what is happening with our nephew Paul's wedding now that the reception cannot be held at the EAA museum. I had to laugh emoticon at your hair being nearly long enough to stay behind your ears because if mine can't do that, I go absolutely crazy. emoticon DD1 was at her home for DS's visit and thought about coming over but decided not to since she was coming again the next day to cover for me. Also, she came over another time when he was supposed to visit and then didn't. DD2 was here but only stayed downstairs briefly as those two are not nearly as close as DD1 and DS are. You should get double credit for doing Pilates as they are incredibly difficult. emoticon That was a great idea to make a matching burp cloth for the grandmother of the baby. How have you never met so many of these relatives? Are they really far away? You did save a ton of money emoticon doing your own tree removal and got it done much more quickly. People with trees IN their houses had to wait for months for professional services around here. I am not on track to lose 5 % this time but I have lost 13 pounds since January and have been losing about 1/2 pound weekly in this challenge so I am very happy with that. Sometimes I think 5 % in 8 weeks is too fast, either way, I am just happy to be losing. emoticon Since you are close, consider me your biggest cheerleader! emoticon You can do it! I keep hand sanitizer in the car as well but I am running out of my favorite brand and can't find it anywhere. My diapering duties triple in a week so I really need to find a good one with aloe in it, any suggestions? Amen to your thoughts on teachers in the pandemic. We/they have gone from heroes to cowards in a few short months, how sad is that? New guidelines came out today that lowered the age from five to two for a required mask but at this point I am still not requiring Nellie to wear one and I don't wear one unless I go out. Congratulations on hiring a new church music emoticon director that you like, what a relief, that was a long process! Simone wears a bike emoticon helmet so hopefully, she'll convince DS to wear his as well. I don't think he has insurance and an injury of any sort scares me. He has a bit of a daredevil past but DD1 reports he's calming, I hope she's right. Five hours with DDS was amazing and I was really happy he spent all of his time here rather than running around to see his friends.
He sent photos of their new place today and it is absolutely gorgeous, I can't wait to visit them...but I will. DD2 is infamous for unclear thoughts, not conveying them well and assuming things so it was no surprise that she just figured we would help her move without asking us. emoticon She can be very sweet and has a heart of gold but it is time for her to learn a few things that she just can't learn without life experience away from us. She didn't think the basement looked so bad so she is willing to help clean it up but I will pace it so she doesn't get sick right before she starts commuting and working more hours with new students. Do you have a favorite Sherlock episode? There's really only one I don't care for very much as it is a bit scary, any idea which one?

DH will work in his classroom Monday through Thursday and plans to put in one more day at the park next Friday. emoticon I told him we could manage without that pay and he really should give himself a day off but he wants to go so that's what he'll do. He was very touched when his 18 year old work partner told him he was going to miss him so I think he wants one more day with him as well. That day will be my last day of summer schedule so if we were not in a pandemic, we would go out and celebrate but I guess we'll just have to do it at home.

Lindie, you're up tomorrow but we are moving DD2 so you may be delayed until Sunday. Time will tell. emoticon

Good evening!

Anne—I agree with you about locking my car. It isn’t locked in the garage but it is in the driveway. I had a great time with my friend today at the pool. We visited and then did some swimming. It wasn’t hot but it was nice to get all wet!

Lindie—good advice to Cathy about Zoom. I will go with a vaccine from a big drug company—I think they will be careful—they are already $$ with money. I make a pot of coffee here at home once in awhile—haven’t paid for coffee for awhile.

Betsy—Sorry DD2 didn’t make her thoughts clear. I hate having a big mess to clean up….I do hope DD2 will help you as you have requested.

Cathy—DD1 looked at meteorology—it takes lots of physics and that is why she didn’t go into it. I doubt that many of the TV meteorologists really ARE a meteorologist—they may just read what the weather service puts out. I know in the NYC area, we do have several good ones.

Terri—is it hot there? DD1 said it was 103 by her place. Your garden looks great. Glad you got some one-on-one time with Adam—I know it is wonderful to have time with just one.

I enjoyed my time visiting my friend—we swam and chatted for a long time. Supper was leftover Mexican from last night. I think Sherlock on Netflix is calling my name this evening. I may go to a Black Lives Matter (see the parable of the 99 sheep to see why I say they matter) event tomorrow—I do admit it depends on weather and I haven’t talked with DH to decide if I will go. DH is working to get church ready for in-person tomorrow. So—busy time.

Whew! I just read Betsy's catch-up post and enjoyed it so much. I knew she would do it. I don't have notes, so always forget something I was going to respond to or comment on...oh well.

My trip to the coast with Adam was a very good day. We had an hour just to ourselves on the drive over and I really enjoyed having that time. It doesn't happen often in a large family, so it's pretty sweet when you get that one-on-one time with ANY of them. I took him to pick up Sarah's car and then we parted ways for our respective errands. He had to stop at a body shop to get an estimate for a repair on it (a local service truck backed into it at the ranch and will pay for the repair) and I had my car full of recycling to drop off. (No Anne, I hadn't left it in the car from Monday but it didn't take long to reload it) After recycling, I got a burger at In & Out from their drive-thru and ate it in the parking lot before I took gd Lily a coffee from her favorite barista stand and had a quick visit with her (she was at work, but they weren't busy). She was able to catch me up on some of her family's goings on, and then I went to the blood bank to make a donation. From there, I went out to the ranch to visit my garden for the first time in 3 days. (Adam had been watering, so all I had to do was harvest)

Look at the green beans hanging down inside the bean tunnel! Rylan loves them fresh off the vine, like I do.

The black-eyed peas were loaded~

I have 14 **Shish-ito pepper plants and this is just one branch on one of them--they are very mild and yummy for grilling. I had the boys pick those to take to their house because I already have a gallon bag at home.

The small wax peppers are for pickling and roasting for salsa and this is one little branch of 6 large plants

The butter beans are making pods, but haven't filled out yet. If we like these and grow them again, I'll put them on a tunnel trellis because the vines are SO long!

The watermelons are getting there, but have a ways to go. This is one of them next to my big foot to give you perspective. There are about 8 of them this size and who knows how many smaller ones.

The boys played hide & seek after they were done picking peppers and kept me company for quite a while, until they were called for dinner and then took their box down for their mom. When I finished, I went down to the house and found that she had made me a plate and saved it for me (bless her heart) and she loved the beautiful peppers. She said she'd share them with our friends Jennifer & Brian when they had dinner together this week and would make stuffed bell peppers from the large ones I had sent down with the boys. Adam rode home with me to get his work truck, since he had driven Sarah's car home from town that day, so we got another piece of time together and I had help carrying my bounty into the house from the car. This was my "haul" minus what I'd left with Sarah:

I snapped beans, shelled and snapped black-eyed peas, and cleaned peppers yesterday--almost all day. This was my work station, which was very convenient for a nap in the middle of it all--LOL

I'm using the jars I still have here to process some of that this morning but will have to fetch some back from the storage unit at the ranch to continue. I knew it would come to this when we were moving jars out of the basement. I would've told Steve to leave a few boxes here had I known that he'd loaded them all. We are going to have to figure out where to store the new canned foods where there won't be a lot of temperature fluctuation. Such a problem to have, right?

I'm going to post this for now and go back to catching up with all of your posts that I missed yesterday, because I've been up and down from the computer all morning and the beginning of this post is now hours old.

**I had to put a hyphen in this word because Spark thinks I'm using profanity if I don't.

Good morning everyone, its almost lunch time, and I know what I will have. The nights are nice and cool for sleeping and the day is warm but not stinking hot like Cathy has ! Sorry Cathy ! Not trading ! LOL

Cathy, that's a lot of storms that passed by - we seldom get storms here so when one comes we are all watching ! What did you accomplish today ? I have a zoom account but its the free account - I don't need to have a paid one cause I am not using it everyday and I hope that teacher does not expect you to get a paid one. You may find teaching over zoom challenging, but I know you can do this, you dont' have to be a tec, just don't be afraid of computers - they are nothing but MATH !! Ask a math teacher LOL What I am typing right now is possible because of MATH ... and you can have fun with this, that will help the kids feel not so intimidated by it - but if you are prepared to go into the school - mask up please and carry hand sanitizer - you know some of your kids can't even go to the bathroom properly and clean themselves up and I am thinking at home is better for YOU so you dont' bring anything home to DH or any other loved one ... I am not familiar with chromebook - but Michael can give you some pointers - just write them down on an index card like you would a recipe - all recipes have instructions - so think of this as a recipe .. .if that helps .. I keep a password book so I just go to that when I can't rememeber the password. So what did you get into today ?

Betsy that was quite the novels you have written - sorry DD2 got into your computer time. Why did you not network with Fr C knowing how DD2 gets information mixed up ? I am not sure how much lap tops are there but here they run from 350.00 and up and sometimes you can get refurbished, but I would pass on that - Dell is not a good company to buy from, if you have an issue you send it to them to fix and then you might not get yours back but a different - I have heard horror stories from others about them . but doubt the others are any better. Just remove what you dont' need on it - I have an acer right now as I did not want an HP and I have had acer before but this new one did not last long before an issue came up. Also you can research the product before buying - so I in future will check reviews to see what others have experienced and then decide - I have been ok not to have a problem with my Apple products and I hope that continues ! I guess you don't get anymore summer break, how many children will you have ?

Anne you are right that parents will complain and I get it, but don't bring just complaints, bring suggestions and be part of the solution, not part of the bickering only ... that might be hard for some to do. I hope your work day goes well - wasn't Wednesday suppose to be your day off ? lol Did you switch it already ? lol

Terri, I hope all is well and you are miles from those fires in California - I saw the news reports but of course being directionally challenged I shall have to look at a map - at least I know how to read one LOL How is the garden coming along ?

Dianne, hope you got your exercise in ok, have you been out for your coffee ?

Gene's infusion went fine, he met people younger then him with this medical condition and he felt he was way better off then the other people - we were early to pick him up and sat in the parking lot for over an hour - I went to Subway and got him a sub and then on the way back we stopped for fish and chips and he got a sub for his work - he thinks he knows how he can do his patrols and not get tired from them. we will see tonight how it went. I only ate half the fish and chips last night I will have the rest for lunch - its cool enough in here I can have the oven on ! No fans running lately - I did try to see if I could see any of the meteor showers from the Perseid but I was too early and the pub had rowdy customers cheering on the hockey game - that was a nuisense and I hope that behaviour at that pub does not continue - the customers were outside on the makeshift balcony and noise carries at 8 pm at night - I hope it did not distrub or scare any kids who might have been in bed for the night as we do have young children in this area .... I might try to go out again tonight - but I would need a sweater ! it went down to 57F last night !

Ok time to get off here - oh Amy hope all is well !

Anne, does the person hosting have to pay for the zoom or everyone using it? I need to tell the teacher this because I am guessing we will be on too long for the free sessions. I am guessing she could get reimbursed by the school or they would pay for it. I know I am not going to pay for anything like that. You need to be there when you make J take the clothes out and I bet you will have a battle---either that or you just go ahead and do it and have the frying pan handy if he protests---LOL I think Betsy is crazy---I will never be a computer tech person----LOL Hope not too much paperwork today.
Dianne, thanks for info on zoom on the computer. One reason why I haven't done any of the master gardener meetings is because they are zoom ones and on a phone, it is a pain. At this point, if you do absentee ballot, you better deliver it in person if you want it to get there safely. How was the visit with the chiropractor and your friend? Could you take a dip in the pool? We ended up with a lot of rain here yesterday again---and they had said we probably wouldn't get much----so much for weathermen! I told Reagann she should become one as it is the one job where you can be wrong 99% of the time and still keep your job. LOL
Lindie, I do plan on plugging it in soon and figure out how to get back on it---darn thing had to have a gmail account and I think I remember what we set up but not sure. It is a Chrome Book one, I think. I figured out where to put it in the spare room so that Dh would not be a nuisance. But I would rather be at the school but understand the teacher's reasoning for her situation. How did Gene feel after this treatment? I know that sitting too long makes my legs ache more when I get up so that might be normal for him, too. He might need to do some chair exercises when he can to help with that---or get up more often and just walk around his desk area.
Betsy, why is she taking a hope chest with her when she obviously didn't need or use it before? Oh, my to more drama with her move. I hope it goes well but maybe it won't be so bad because he will be there and she won''t want him to see her in a meltdown---although it might be good if he did see that side of her. Oh, my to the mess being made more worse. Wish I was there to help you sort it out. I like doing that kind of stuff but hate doing normal housework. I took a nap as the storm was winding down---after being awake at 4 and all the alarms from about then to 8, I was tired ---and the wind was dying down and the rain wasn't so torrential.. Dh has made plans to do something about the walkway---all the rain this week has put more sand on it again---but then half of that is his fault---he only put the sand along the edges so it has made it's way right back there---duh! But we are going to extend the french drain along the walkway. We put one around the square space where the steps were already, so all we have to do is dig along the walkway---but we will have to wait until it gets cooler and dryer at the moment---LOL i am the one up and down in our house---bathroom and my hips---I definitely need shots again---but my Dh can sleep thru anything. We will just eat the squash and the cucumbers. You can chop up your green peppers and lay them out on a lined tray in the freezer---once they are frozen, put them in a freezer bag to use in recipes in the winter. I love to do that for chili. Nice that you are getting the free potatoes. I never get a lot of them because we have no place that is cool enough to keep them. I understand your DD1---no way would I want your job with the little ones and I definitely prefer the older children to deal with. We only put so many branches in our can as we need room for our weekly trash---so it really wasn't that much damage. Glad you are caught up with me!
Stayed inside yesterday with all that rain. Finished a book. Cleared my desk and paid a bill. Just a normal boring day. It's Friday ---have a good one!

Anne, I am on here to take Dianne's notes for her post tonight but wanted to pop on to say DD2 wasn't here yesterday or she would have helped in the basement. She was moving her smaller things to her new place. She has been informed that she will help me get the one room in the basement back into somewhat organized chaos over the evenings of the next week.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Betsy, I understand your frustration with the interruption and then the "change of plans" for K's move. Why did you end up having to move the stuff from around and in the hope chest. K should have done that! Glad Reid and Nellie's Dad was a bit helpful since he came early. At least Matt and Ryan could help...a bit too fast, but now it is done! I hope the 2000 percent shambles really isn't that difficult to straighten out. K must think that your driveway is safe to leave windows open and things in the car. I lock my car everywhere, even when I do not have anything in it...my luck a creep would decide they'd want my radio, which really isn't that great, lol! Funny how DD1 is content with her age bracket of kids and you are yours. Yay to making space by having the kids start taking their things! Love your confidence that Cathy will become a techno-wizard with Michael's teaching!

Lindie, I agree, the breakout rooms are really helpful and we used them during the Discovering Christ Zoom meetings. We haven't needed to use them in our "reconnecting" group, but it is nice to know they are available. We haven't had issues with being hacked and the parishes have had a lot of Zoom meetings. Certain parents will always complain or try to circumvent the school system. I would not want to be dealing with them either! How did Gene do with his second treatment?

Dianne, I misunderstood your post. I thought the new director wasn't going to have a choir. Glad DD2 didn't lose a lot from her freezer when the electricity went out on her. Does she know how long it was out? I think the mail in ballots can be "lost" or hacked just as easily as the ballots at the polls. How was your chiropractor visit? Hope you had fun with at your friend's and enjoyed her pool.

Hi everyone else...hope all went well yesterday!

Time to get moving. I have a lot of paperwork to do at the gas station. I only did what was absolutely necessary last night.

Have a good day!

Anne

Aaargh, I just sat down to write Cathy's post and in walked DD2 with all kinds of different ideas about moving, good grief! She initially told us Charlie was coming with a truck to move her bigger items and now she's saying he's only moving her mattress and frame. She ASSUMED we would move the hope chest and other large items in our Subaru, again good grief! emoticon Don't ask me what my stress level is right now. I asked our other son and his dad if they could get the hope chest up here tonight, tomorrow night or Saturday morning. While Nellie and Reid were still here, they called at 4:30 and said they could do it "right now." Of course, I accepted and was on my way downstairs to start moving things so we could get to it, when Reid woke up from his nap. I quickly got a bottle in the warmer and was headed downstairs with Nellie when their dad walked in 30 minutes early emoticon emoticon He asked what he could do and I just told him to take care of his baby while I ran downstairs and started moving paint cans, boxes and bins with Nellie. We had barely gotten started when Matt and Ryan appeared, again yikes! emoticon emoticon Matt said, " Where is it?" emoticon emoticon emoticon I showed him and we started an assembly line to move stuff away from and off of it and now my storage area is 2000 percent in shambles instead of 1000 percent! DH doesn't even want to look. I have my work cut out for me this weekend between that , prepping the day care for business again and helping DD2 move.

Cathy, our weather isn't good for walking outdoors over half the year so a treadmill is a blessing. Most places aren't serene but the place I used to go had the treadmills facing windows over natural beauty, I miss it SO much. We did have a nice time at DD1's when we delivered the bookshelf and we watched a show on her Disney Plus trial about old high school casts reuniting to perform their musicals once again. We watched one from my beloved Door County and it was awesome seeing the sights of home. Sorel is the brand of winter boot that I hope to find but I will keep an open mind as long as the boots are warm in subzero weather and keep the snow out. I would be shocked to see a pastor so casually dressed while presiding over a service. Are your hips any better? We don't have televisions in our bedrooms so I don't even think of that issue. DH is a "hotbox" so even if the air is cold, our bed is the warmest place for me. The trouble I have is he gets up so much during the night for various reasons that I don't get consistent sleep. I'm sorry you had a dream/nightmare about being stuck, perhaps it is because you feel stuck in your school situation. How did you nap through a storm, wasn't it loud? We'd want to watch/listen to it but we love storms as long as people are safe. It's handy to be on the same power grid as the hospital. Thank goodness all of those storms didn't do too much damage to your place, you sure had a string of them! Are alleys common in your area? They were where I grew up but they are very rare around here. Will you freeze your squash or share the bounty? We are getting ten pounds of potatoes tomorrow because somebody a day care family knows got a whole palette given to her and she needs to get rid of them. Somebody else gave us more green peppers than we can use so we will reciprocate with some of those and a jar of jam.
The virtual courtrooms are due to COVID or I am sure they would be in person. Fr. C had 15 character witnesses testify and his accuser had none, I think that's what contributed to no jail time. Also, if what he said happened is the case, 45 years would be far too severe a punishment.Don't get me wrong, I do believe in justice but there is more and more evidence that this girl is lying. That said, there's always doubt and this whole situation stresses me out.I will miss DD2 but at age 28, it's time for her to be independent and I'm looking forward to it. Last night she went to bed and left her car in the driveway with the window down and her wallet and keys inside! emoticon She will come home for lunches and that will be good because it will be brief. I already mentioned the hope chest she's getting and that DS got a bike but I don't think I mentioned that our other daughter, Kate, is getting a nice chair, blender, and bookshelf from us. We are slowly weeding out our house, hurray! emoticon emoticon Three weeks to take care of storm damage? You must have gotten hit worse than I thought. The important thing is you weren't hurt. Can you burn any of the debris or is it just too hot there? Seven tornadoes in one day is definitely a reflection of the year 2020 that everyone had such high hopes for and has been disappointed beyond belief. All of the first graders are getting Chromebooks this year so I imagine DH will also get one but he is not a fan. I may break down, buy a laptop for myself, and let him borrow it if needed. That will be worst case scenario because I really want to pay down our debt instead of adding to it. The kids were good for DD1 when I went to the doctor but things got a little rough when she couldn't find Cooper's blanket or Reid's pacifier. Nellie got cranky and she figured she needed food so she gave them snack instead of lunch but it all worked out. She's grateful that she doesn't have my job and I'm grateful I don't have hers! emoticon
Oh yes, she had just gotten Reid to sleep when Cooper started screaming and awakened him ...twice! It's a day in the life for me but she isn't used to it... and doesn't want to be. I will never let our TP supply dwindle again either. Our discount stores rarely have any so I have been paying the extra cash to buy it at the grocery store, almost every time I go. Isn't it odd that TP is what people thought of first as far as what they would need? Food was my first thought. Hurray to no limit on hamburger AND lower prices at Sam's! Having a walk covered with sand after a storm and needing a shovel to remove it would be a new one for us too, how strange. emoticon Salad on Sunday was your excitement due to the grape tomatoes? emoticon You really do need to visit, I could provide you with all kinds of excitement ranging from DD2's situation to having four of our five children move this month (two are "other" children ;)
to all the decluttering to simply exploring a new place. Of course, I can offer a baby to cuddle as well. emoticon Root beer floats used to be my favorite treat at A&W when I was a little girl and I still enjoy them but rarely have one. Steven and Simone didn't have any interesting news to share, it was just nice to see them. They are both rather unconventional so I don't know if they will ever marry. That saddens us but they are adults so that's the way it is.I did not work too hard cleaning for them because they got here sooner than expected and because I focused on the area where we would spend most of our time. ( Dominoes, kitchen table.) DH straightened the computer desk and that was good because DS spent over an hour trying to figure out our webcam issue. We did Google Meet and Zoom with Carolyn and that was nice because they got to see each other. You would faint if you saw the overgrowth at the house next door. Our gutter pieces are still lying in their yard but you can't see them! Hurray for surprise cucumbers to take you through summer. emoticon One of these years I want to make pickles again but who knows when that will be. I really miss having Clara around to help me with that. She also supplied me with the pickling cucumbers from her family farm. She's been an angel emoticon for nine years now and her house across the street is a rental. The boys who currently rent are UWSP students and they went home when quarantine started so the house stands empty. I wish a nice family would move in to liven up the neighborhood. That's too funny that you recognize the personality clash between Reagann and her mom because they are too alike. At least her mom is trying to discipline her so that's a plus. I am glad you got to spend the day with Reagann and had a good time. My goodness, you 've had a lot of broken toes! emoticon Aging people do need rest stops more frequently than others so I don't blame you for staying put, especially if the conditions aren't sanitary, that's crazy! You'd laugh as much as I do at my 28 year old daughter who has just started to complain about having to get up to go to the bathroom during the night if she drinks water right before bed. emoticon emoticon I cannot imagine it being too hot not to eat ice cream in a car unless there's no AC. As I've said before, you are the recipient of extreme heat emoticon and I am the recipient of extreme cold. emoticon Reagann's school plan sounds like a good one, especially since she has you to help. Last year virtual teaching was a fly by the seat of your pants deal but this year there's been time to plan so I hope it is better for you. We were not hit by any storms other than the brief high winds that DD1 drove through and we didn't sustain any damage, phew!
I'm sorry I tired you out after reading my post, that was a busy but typical type of day for me.
Why won't Michael give you his Disney Plus password? My vote for getting housework done is the ,"or not" option. emoticon emoticon emoticon We all need a emoticon emoticon or maybe even two! emoticon emoticon
When people inner tube from the county park to the city park, they typically drop a car off at the city park first so it's waiting for them when they get there. As long as Fr. C is still in the priesthood, I will call him by that title. You never know what could happen, there may be a change of heart. It would break DD2's heart but she'd learn to go on as everyone else does.
I'm still unclear on the steps he needs to take to remove himself from the job or what his commitment is to the parish he left. The church is not paying his legal fees, he is. When it's rainy emoticon or snowy emoticon , DS will use public transportation or take an Uber, just like before. Remember when his bus broke down in the extreme cold and he froze his fingers? It's going to be a rough 4-6 weeks when everyone is here full time again but we'll adjust like always. That said, my school year begins August 24 so be patient with me until at least October, emoticon emoticon please. emoticon It's hard to believe next week is my last week of summer. emoticon I'll be exhausted at the end of the day so I'll do my best to pop in but I probably won't keep up. emoticon
Have faith in yourself, Cathy, with Michael's expertise, you will be a technological wizard in no time flat!

Good morning everyone, hope you all are having a fine day of it.

Cathy, plug your lap top in now and start it up so that if there are any updates they can be done and over by the time you do need your lap top. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard with mine - so much easier then trying to use the one on the laptop - also Zoom on the lap top will allow you to see more people - yes you will need to use the camera on that as the kids need to see you - and I bet a couple of them will be thrilled to see you - There is a tutorial in Zoom you can do as well or you can google zoom for more information.

Anne, having the paid version is safer and allows you to control who comes in and who does not - its the free versions that are getting hacked. To date we have not been hacked during our meetings - we use the paid version - it is well worth it for the security - and I love the break out rooms - they are fantastic. Often after our meetings, we are put into break out rooms so we can socialize afterwards just like when we are at the hall - plus every meeting they try to match us up with different ones too ! I hope your day today is not too difficult.

Betsy, glad you had a good visit with DS and wow to the pink hair on Simone - but I would love it since pink is one of my fav colours - course once my sister told me that any adult that had a pink f---g phone needed a head doctor - she was just made cause she got the pink phone instead of a new phone to use... anyway - that is a shame about that man, maybe they do have issues and what not but glad the women were ok. It's too bad Nellie is so clingy right now and ouch to that bite - I do not envy you 3 kids all teething at the same time !! I just got my shields in yesterday - I got 4 of them so my sister will get one and I offered 2 to anyone close who wanted but no other takers - I tried it on and will have to adjust it for around the top of the ears and it has a black band that I am going to put stickers on just to have fun with it - most likely butterflies and a flower here and there ! Pink of course ! LOL

Dianne, we have a good attendance at our zoom meetings but one thing we can't do is unmute each other and sing as a congregation - the program can't handle that - so we each sing at home in our own space - we have well over 50 people at each meeting and sometimes double that - course its summer and people are on vacation or what have you - I do staycations all year round now since I do not work ! Glad dd1's toe is better and that dd2 did not loose too much food - I swear with all the crappy chemicals they are putting into our meat these days I am going to give it up be vegetarian too ! I made my own mushroom soup the other day. Interesting aboutthe vaccine, but sorry I do not trust the drug companies at all - too many times its about $$$ and not about emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon people yesterday our numbers came in at 85 testing positive - the issue with the Seniors homes still have issues here and there but for the most part no one has died for a few days so they aren't concerned as they were about the high numbers - mostly in 20-30 year olds who are doing private parties and not following the guides . Like Betsy I want a well proven vaccine - not one that was rushed ... and who says they can't falsify the testing process just to get it out ...wont' be the first time testing was falsified for something !

Terri, I would love to come and help you snap peas but you would have to show me hahahaha I am a country girl who never lived on a farm LOL I hope your day goes good and that you get all you wanted done !

Amy I hope all is well with you and yours !

School: here they have delayed the school start by 2 days. Parents are up in arms over the way they are planning on letting kids come back to the class room and are stating they need options - well they have options- BC has always had the option to do home schooling - but what they want is for their kids to pick and choose who will be in the bubble so to speak and that is not going to happen - I am so glad I do not work in that environment and have to deal with all the bickering - they should work with the Board of Health not just complain or threaten to sue - they want all kids wearing masks but its not necessary - and Dr Henry will not mandate masks in BC - she says masks will make people lazy about washing their hands and physical distancing and with the high numbers I can see that.

Gene is getting ready to go = he will take a cab - the place will reimburse him and then Alice and I will pick him up later this aft - I do hope all goes well but I would say by the way he is walking not much improvement and not much strength in the leg - he worked yesterday and said his legs hurt - he's never said that before but he's ususally driving a car and doing odd patrols .......

Morning!

Anne—while I’d love to have our choir, singing is one of the best ways to spread the virus so I won’t be going and I am one of the youngest in the choir. We may be able to do something virtually—she has ideas. DD2 has tossed some stuff but she is vegetarian so no meat in her freezer. She will likely use the veggies—they will just have texture issues but no biggie if going into soup. You want to go to the polls and I have planned to do an absentee ballot since 2017—I think the electronic voting machines can be hacked but my paper ballot, with my name on it, cannot be hacked—unless they do mess up the post office so bad. Then I’ll hand deliver it. I am sorry you aren’t happy with the choices—I think you need to look at it as transportation—which one gets you closer to where you want to be.
Terri—I hope the fires aren’t too bad. Garden giving you enough to can yet?

Lindie—how is Gene doing? We always continue to worry about our kids!

Cathy—I hope you can go into school since that is your preference. I also hope the teachers that do not want to can have their preference. There is still a strong push for in person here but it will go virtual within a couple of weeks, I am sure. DD1’s toe is doing better—she is keeping it taped and won’t go see a doctor now as it is improving. Zoom on the computer works the same way—put in the code for your meeting and away you go. That is the only way I have done it.

Betsy—I share your worry about the vaccine. I will get it but not in the first month. A friend whose hubby works for a big drug company says as long as it is by one of the big ones, it will be okay. They will not release it until proven—at least as far as they can. Does the web cam work now? Glad you got at least some visit with DS. Maybe he will use the helmet in Madison—I know people did when I was in school.

Amy—I saw photos of the corn fields. I hope the farmers in Iowa get some harvest. Those photos were devastating.

I did my exercise, now off to the chiropractor and then I will get together with my friend. If we can’t swim, we’ll sit on the porch and talk!

Betsy, thanks for the heads up about Zoom vs Google Meet. I will have to pay $14.99/mo for Zoom or $10/mo for Google Meet. The free ones do not allow for the amount of time our group meets. I do need to check to see if there are breakout rooms in Google Meet...I'm getting mixed information when I Google for that information (too short a time right now to go onto the Google Meet information pages and try to find it.

Cathy, I send out a Zoom invite and people on computers just have to click the link to get to the meeting. I have never done a call in to Zoom. It is going to be a difficult year for the students. The ones who will get ahead will have parents who work hard at home schooling, even if the kids have virtual school.

My oversized load of laundry is all washed, dried, folded and put away...well almost put away...there's a pile for J. His drawers are too stuffed so I don't want to deal with them. I think I should pull his clothes out of his drawers and let him put it all back...sorting out things he no longer wears because 1.) they don't fit or 2.) they are worn out.

Off to work at the rectory. Have a good day!

Anne

Betsy, what a creep! Can't see that marriage lasting too long. How scary for the woman and her friend. How do they get back from the city park when they do that? Hope it is not too awkward with Father C. Should you be calling him Father if he is leaving the priesthood? It sounds like he is not suited for that afterall and only staying because they are providing legal services. Nice that you had 5 hours with your son and that your Dh was glad to give him his bike to use to get to work and back----but what about when it is rainy or snowy? Yikes to 3 children teething at the same time. That does not sound like fun and neither does Nellie's behavior ---going to be rough when all kids come back. I think it is time for your DH to buy himself a new laptop, esp. if they go virtual back to school. More on that stuff later on as I talked to my teacher yesterday.
Lindie, so glad I don't live in the city and have to worry about all the stuff you do. I prefer our local farmer's markets for fresh fruit except for grapes. Did your package come? Hope Gene's treatment goes as well this time. Glad work is trying to find the right situation for him. Did you see the meteors? We have been too overcast here. Lots of storms and rain yesterday afternoon into the evening.
Terri, did you get the recycling stuff dropped off? Hope the heat did not zap you again and that you got lots of stuff and can start canning----although with the heat, not sure you want to start that either.
Dianne, glad you got to hear the new music director play and sing. I would have been singing along, too. Glad DD1 can walk on it now. Did she tape it to the toes next to it? That really does help and that is what a doctor would do anyhow---unless she did it like my first one---but after he set it, all he did was tape it to the others, too. I think virtual will be a disaster and all these kids are going to be a year behind at least before we are done.
Anne, sorry you are having our hot and humid weather. Although our temps will be lower for a bit due to the cloud cover and all the rain---but still humid. Why is he saving those programs? They would just be garbage in the future and doubt he looks thru them again. For some reason on the "smart" TV in the living room, it wants you to put in the password for Disney and it seems to be once a month lately. We don't know his password or how to do it so Michael has to come do it. I agree with your---I don't trust our voting by mail one bit---and agree that there is no one to vote for again this election. I know too much about Biden's underhanded stuff from when he was in Delaware politics---and of course, the news it not putting that out because they are out to get Trump. Actually, I think Biden as president is more scary than Trump---but not by a whole lot---LOL---but I will vote and in person if I can. Sorry about the problem with your meeting. That is what worries me about virtual anything!
So, i have read what the superintendant has said ---Dom will only have 80 minutes of education for 4 days a week---hmmmm, how can you teach a 3rd grader for only that long but also, how do you keep his attention for that long a stretch of time? Reagann will have longer but only 4 subjects, and only half a day pretty much. High schoolers will have the choice of 5 subjects but can take only 4 if they choose---not sure how the middle and high schoolers will jump from one teacher to another. Again, only 4 days---Wednesday will be make up day or relearn day from what I read. But really so teachers can prepare for the next 2 days or grade ---but what they will be grading I have no idea. It just sounds like a whole lot of education being lost by all the students.
I talked to my teacher yesterday---if we have to go back to the classroom, I don't see how she can do it----her kids--5 of them in school---will be going to school 2 days a week and then rest of week at home for virtual learning---and since the boys are in middle school, they are not going to school on the same days as the girls. Plus she has a one year old who picks up everything at daycare---so what happens if he is sick as that means she has to stay home with the new directives for teachers. It's not like she can stay away from her children. She has made plans to do virtual with our kids and hopes the principal will approve it. It does make sense but I will have to be online with her for the online teaching. That scares me as I really am not good at online crap. I do have a laptop that I haven't used much---Matthew gave it to me last Christmas---so guess I need to charge it up and get Michael to download Zoom on that if I have to be at home and help her. I have Zoom on my phone but don't want to spend 4 hours on my phone and it is not that big anyhow for these old eyes. I guess I will need to set something up in the spare room so I can be in there and not interrupted by Dh moving around behind me when online or his TV being heard. Plus in there I think I can set it up so that the laptop is plugged in the whole time so it has enough power each day. But I dont know how zoom works on computers---on phones I know you call in and put in your code for your meeting but how do you do that on the computer. The teacher said she prefers zoom because she can link things on her computer to show on Zoom for the kids to see. But again, not sure if the principal will approve her plan---it did make sense to me so we will see what happens.
WE might have another rainy day here. It is definitely overcast. Have a decent Thursday!

Anne, I do my best...when I can get to the computer! I just popped on to say our children all speak much more highly of Zoom than GoogleMeeet and wonder why DH's school uses the latter. sorry your meeting was booted, apparently, it isn't a good summer for boots! emoticon

Cathy, your "novel" will appear tonight, provided I can stay awake.

Have a great day, everyone! This team is the emoticon

Betsy, all I can say is "Wow!" I think you covered it all! No, I didn't go to Dairy Queen. I remembered that I had to open up the Zoom meeting at 6:50 and didn't want to be late. I should have gone to DQ, though...our meeting got bumped due to a Finance Council meeting. Glad Fr. C's Dad is doing fine. Yes, stress does give us heart attack-like symptoms! I am sure it will be a bit awkward, but at the same time, it will be good to get that awkwardness done and over with. Ouch to the bite! Glad his parents were not stressed over it. Hope today is better!

I was not a happy camper that we got booted. I do not know how Fr. J didn't see our meeting. I sent out an email to the group at the time we were meeting...now I need to make sure I get everyone's phone numbers, just in case. The Finance Council usually doesn't meet on a Wednesday night; it probably had to do with the Blackbaud breach that hit the Archdiocese of Boston's donor database. I'll find out in a little while, lol! I am going to see how much it costs for a open time limit Zoom and compare it to GoogleMeet. I think I will open my own account if I am going to continue running the tech for these meetings. I DO NOT want this type of interruption again!

Time to flip the laundry and head to the gas station.

Happy Thursday!

Anne

Anne, here comes ten days worth of catching up, hope you're ready. My wasp infested boots were old so the loss isn't terrible. DD2 gave me a gift card ( Christmas 2019) to a place where I can buy new ones this fall. Did you ever catch the groundhog/gopher in your yard? We have been seeing a doe and her fawn leave the yard next door about three mornings a week. The lady across the street says they wait until our sprinklers are finished before they head back to the local park. I worry about the COVID vaccine being put into use before it has been tested and worry about the long range. Will they discover something horrible that could be worse than the disease itself? I think we need one but I don't want them to rush through for that reason.Fr. B's plants look great! That's cool that you can remember them as little six inch babies! Our computer was built for us last summer so it's older than Reid ( 5 1/2 mos ) and younger than cooper ( 15 mos.) We had never used a webcam before so agreed not to have one built in, what a mistake that was! On 8/4 you mentioned your tummy wasn't happy and I can relate because mine's been unhappy since 8/7. It's improving but I still have a ways to go. Hurry for your friend's chair enabling your chat outside sans masks. Thanks for the prayers fro Fr.C's sis-in-law and his dad. I haven't heard how Maria is doing but Fr.c's dad is fine. Apparently it was a false alarm. The poor man has been under a lot of stress and his own father had a heart attack the week before so Fr. C thinks he overreacted. The computer tech didn't give us a new computer, just a new webcam. I realized that was unclear after I posted but my phone wouldn't let me edit. You mentioned lunching and observing planes with a relaxed Fr. B and that's great. For the record, I don't care for lobster rolls either...or anything lobster for that matter. The mention of planes reminded me that I heard the loudest sonic boom I have ever heard yesterday. We were outside but my neighbor said her whole house shook and I could hear people a block away commenting on what they were doing and how they reacted. Nellie was terrified and shaking for quite some time, poor thing! I read later that many veterans went into duck and cover mode or were instantly flashed back to their wartime, how sad. The police and the military operations base posted that there was a convention for about two weeks and things like this should be expected but it would have been nice to know that BEFORE the first day. One of the things they are researching is sonic travel and of course, they are staying prepared in the event of a war. Not knowing that, I really wondered if somebody was shooting a gun next door.
DH's school allowed him to check out a Chromebook last year but that was problematic as well. DD2's laptop was the best solution for him but she is moving soon so that won't be an option. Actually, Fr. C has a truck and is moving her bigger stuff with us on Saturday. It will be the first time we have been face to face with him outside of a church with him in his role as a priest, it's going to be awkward but we'll manage. Wait a minute! Your state allows service station people to pump gas too? I miss that so much! We borrowed a Camry briefly when we were suddenly without a car, 13 days before our wedding, and we loved it, I hope you love yours too. Yes, I had a great time with DD1 on Saturday and Monday. We played games, took long walks, went to the farmers market, watched DVR'd shows we like and enjoyed a dinner from Chili's curbside to Go. She wound up driving in a severe storm but she drove out of it so was only bothered for about five minutes on her way home. All I know about Fr. C other than no jail time is that the virtual court appearances aren't finished yet. I LOVE your idea about the ultimatum for Julian's facial hair in regards to yours! It's YOUR hair and you should have it the way YOU want it! I used to be able to go to sleep right after eating but I can no longer do that, I need a few hours or the food just doesn't digest. You said you were on autopilot so forgot to go somewhere, I do that all the time, sometimes I head back, more often than not, I don't.
Simone dropped Steven here and went to her mother's for a few hours before returning. She has hot pink hair now so it's startling at first but it looks good on her so I adjusted quickly. they are moving to their new place this Friday and that takes Steven farther away from his workplace so he asked for DH's bicycle and we happily gave it to him WITH a helmet ( which he won't wear.) DH was so excited to show DS his old room and DS's comment was, " Did it used to be white?" emoticon Both of them loved the bathroom and she thought it looked very French. He was here for a total of five hours.
What kind of dog is Odin? i agree that the F-bomb is overused and it is unnecessary. Hurray for good finds via your local library! You are not alone, everyone grabs the wrong things when they are busy and hungry. The 5 % challenges help with things like that if you are ever interested. Dianne and I can fill you in on at least three of the teams. I've been on one that's very laid back and one that is very driven so there really is something for everyone. Hurray for all the work you and Fr. B are accomplishing at his new place! I think you should treat yourself with a mini Blizzard from DQ.
The kiddos are doing well but all three of them are teething so it's been rough at times. Also, Nellie, 2.10, has gotten accustomed to having me to herself this summer so she hasn't been real fond of the days Cooper has been here lately. I have had to work VERY hard to help her get used to the idea that our day care is for all of us and it's ok if he looks at her or stand s next to her, etc They were just starting to get along nicely and two minutes before Cooper was to leave ( at noon,) he decided Nellie's arm was suitable for teething. emoticon He didn't break the skin but she will bruise because there were still deep red marks when she left at 5:30 PM. Cooper's parents were mortified but Nellie's parents took it in stride.
Yes, we went to the polls to vote, I wore my mask, DH carried his, sigh. You're right, the husband of the woman who was tubing was definitely "off."
It is nearing 11:30 PM and that's the end of my notes for you, I hope that you were able to go to DQ! emoticon emoticon

Amy, emoticon Thanks for checking in, we love to hear from you whenever you are able to post. A church is a great way to make new friends and learn things about your area. Leaving a church you are involved in would be super hard, like leaving an extended family. Technology makes it so easy to stay in touch these days that you will still be able to visit your old church family while creating your new one. Will your daughter move to that area as well?

Dianne, we are getting the heat. Hot and humid! I hope your DD1 doesn't wreck her baby toe by doing the rest of her virtual marathon. Sounds like your church hired the music director you had hoped they would, but I am confused if she isn't going to have a choir why is she in a music director role? How much food did DD2 lose from her freezer or did it stay frozen and the electricity came back in time before it was ruined? The wedding programs are the brochures that couples give to the people who attend the wedding. It includes the couple's name, as well as all the attendants names, the presider's name, the readings, the songs, musicians and sometimes other information about their wedding ceremony in the church.

Terri, glad you have a trip that will help both you and Sarah/Adam! Hope you had left the recycling in your vehicle! Nice that you had a longer than intended, enjoyable visit with Jenny. Hope you get a lot accomplished on that knitted dress! Prayers for the fire fighters well-being and that they can get the fire(s) under control and out soon!

Lindie, I try not to touch much fruit, but if I pick up one that I think is good and discover the other side that was not exposed to my vision isn't all that I hoped it would be I will put it back. I wash all the fruit, even the fruit that we peel...just in case! I also use a lot of sanitizer on my hands these days, so hopefully that helps! I do not buy already bagged fruit since often times only 1/2 or 2/3 are decent. Glad you were able to use the plums! Any idea what kind of relief or results are expected from the transfusions Gene is getting? So glad he had no reaction from the previous one...may he have the same with tomorrow's! Glad his work is trying to find a good fit for him. Is he okay with trying the different aspects of security? Hope your UPS delivery comes early and you don't have to wait around for it!

Betsy, I sure hope you can slow down soon! Seems like your life is a rat race these days! Are the kiddies doing well? What a jerk your DH was dealing with! Glad the women were okay. Funny about the other camper saying the guy was a weirdo. He mustn't really like his wife much since he wasn't concerned about her safety! Did you go to the polls to vote or do mail in?

Cathy, have you heard whether you return to the classroom or do virtual? I know you mentioned that specials need to attend, but can't remember what that would entail or if you were still waiting for information on it. If you are home, will you help Reagann and Dom? We don't have an Arby's nearby and your comment about DQ in the car made me laugh, but I am thinking a trip to DQ sounds good right after I finish on Spark, lol! What was wrong with your Disney. Glad Michael and gang came to fix it and visit!

We will go to the polls. We refuse to do mail in...don't trust it! I can not wait for the elections to be done. I pray that whoever gets elected the Congress and the media don't continue to be harassing! I am so unhappy with the choices! There isn't a person running for office that I feel comfortable with or trust.

I did go to the gas station this morning, then picked up Rich and went to breakfast. Dropped Rich back off at the rectory and came home. I proofed an article Fr. B wrote and sent it back to him. I hope he likes the changes I made. It was an introduction of himself to his new parishioners. He had a lot of sentences starting with "I" so I restructured some. Now I need to take care of some paperwork that I brought home from the gas station. After I get that done, I may make a trip to DQ for a soft serve, lol!

Have a great Wednesday afternoon!

Anne

Morning! I have been to the chiropractor--I was really stiff today. I have a Sunday School meeting--need to decide how we are going to offer something for the kids. Thoughts are welcome!

Betsy--I am glad your DH decided to alert the sheriff. That would have been a tragedy. Hope you are doing okay with the kiddos.

Terri--always something going on. Glad you rested--I have an active day of rest on tomorrow's calendar so will take it easier. I know I have been pushing a bit too hard. But I am seeing some results so don't want to stop!

Lindie--I hope this next infusion goes well and Gene's work finds the right place for him. I know he wants/needs to work so I am glad they are also trying to make it right. I thought about going out to watch for meteors but we were already in bed. We saw the shower in Nov of 2000 and they were awe inspiring so I am fine if I don't see any again.

I didn't see about Amy so glad she has power back. I know Iowa was hit hard.

Anne--are you also getting this heat?

Cathy--I have hand sanitizer in the car and use that until I can get to soap/water. I forgot my mask yesterday but hubby did have an extra--had to tie knots in the elastic since it was way too big for me.

We did hire a music director. I knew we would be going with her--she has the skills and the background in our denomination. Not sure if we will try something with choir but we'll see. I like her and just felt so good being in the sanctuary with the organ playing a prelude. She sang a hymn alone and I was very quietly singing with her cause I couldn't stand it otherwise. Also visited with another friend--a teacher who is very upset at the "let's look at the big picture" when school starts in less than 4 weeks and there is NO guidance yet about HOW to do virtual AND in-person at the same time. They will all end up virtual within a month anyway but the teachers will be put at risk and then vilified because they won't be trained in how to do virtual teaching--that is what districts should have been investigating all summer.

So I have a meeting today and will pick up my garden produce. DD2 does have power and is spending today in the office to care for the critters and use the AC. DD1 is walking on her broken toe and likely walked 3 miles yesterday for her streak and virtual 500 mile run. I did a kickboxing and strength workout and was dripping this AM. So--all is well!

Oh Betsy--thank God J followed his gut and called the police! That could have been a real tragedy if they'd been caught in the storm! What a horrible husband that poor woman has! Mine would've been frantic and searching the riverbanks himself--and so would yours IF he let you go down the river on your own in the first place.

I have to make this quick because Adam is on his way to my house. Sarah's car has been in the shop and is ready to be picked up, so he's going to leave his work truck here and I'll drive him to town to pick it up for her. This will give me a chance to drop off the recycling that I wasn't able to do on Monday because of my lengthy visit with Jenny.

Cathy, I was a complete sloth yesterday and didn't accomplish much at all. I did get a nap and got my laundry all done and put away, but that's about it. I didn't even knit on the baby dress because I was too tired to concentrate on that lace pattern. I'm feeling a lot more energetic so far today, but it isn't hot yet. That makes a huge difference for me. The coast will be cool, but it will be hot by the time I get back home. I need to get back out to the garden and harvest again because I haven't been there since Sunday and I know I have things ready to pick.

On Monday, I bought some onion starts and some lettuce and pak choy to plant for the fall garden, so will be looking for a place to put some of those things this week. The onions will winter over and be ready next spring and I think I'll try to hold off on planting them in the ground until after I pull up the first corn. It should be ready to harvest in another week or two. The greens can go alongside the pole beans, as they will be pulled out by the time the greens are any size--I hope.

Time to dash so I can be ready when Adam arrives~ emoticon

Good morning friends, glad to see everyone is ok from all the crazy storms out there - and I hope you all continue to be safe !

Betsy, life can be crazy for sure - I understand that the coconut oil will be the stabalizer for the essential oil - it is always recommended to use an oil like coconut oil with those to avoid irritation and for ease of application. It will be interesting to see how many applications you had to do and how often to remove the skin tag - I have a few and one I almost ripped off but put a bandade on it as I had no time to fuss with it and now its almost glued back on lol - wish we could do that with moles too ... I hope you have a good day today and the kiddies are all in a calm mood for you - catch up when you can, no rush, I so enjoy your novel posts emoticon

Cathy, I only buy bags of fruit and do not touch them until paid for - also we have signs that tell us only to "handle" what we are going to buy - I can tell you stories of what other customers do "handling" things but I won't - needless to say I seldom buy things that are not bagged. even then I am leary - the plubs worked out ok cause I found a sorbet recipe I can do later so I took them, put them in the bullet and pured them and will add other frozen fruit in the future for a fruit sorbe! You must still have lots of heat so I am not going to tell you about how hot we are not here - let's just say last night was sweater night .... tonight is the showing in the night skys of the metor showers so I will be out to watch, no pics, course less light polution would help but that will have to wait .... what did you get into today ?

Dianne, you dont' sound too happy about DH going to the church for the funeral - I know your concerned about the virus and that is well founded as there is so much they do not know - but I am sure if DH uses a mask - and sanitizer he will be fine. How is DD1 handling the broken toe? I have never broken anything and do NOT want to - I see the trouble people have with broken ankles - no not going there ! What are you doing today ?

Anne, glad you had a nice visit with Fr B and that you both got things accomplished, I am sure he appreciates all your help and I know you enjoyed helping will you work your wednesday or take it off or change that day from time to time?

Terri, glad you were able to get to town to get some chores done - sometimes we go off schedule and do things at the drop of a hat but I hope you got a lot done, and got home safely.

Gene is gone to work today - he will be sitting all day, not at the other site they were training him for, I think they are trying to find a good fit for him because they always ask him how he felt. Tomorrow is the next infusion and he will take a cab there - will get reimbursed for that and then Alice and I will pick him up at 3 .... he suffered no known side effects from the previous infusion.

Still waiting for a delivery and results of my blood work - but for now I better go get dressed so I can run down and get my parcel - course its UPS so I don't expect a good delivery !

Amy hope all is well with you and yours and your plans are coming together !

Cathy, we had some severe thunderstorms but thankfully, the really bad storms went below us.
Quick story on that before kiddos arrive... As you know DS works in a county park. A popular thing to do is to go inner tubing from his park to a city park and two female campers left to do that( normally takes 3-4 hours) at 1 PM on Saturday. At 9 PM they hadn't returned so DH asked the husband of one of the women if he would like the sheriff's department contacted. The husband said no, can you believe it? Time passed and the husband was asked three more times and he still responded negatively. After we were put under a severe thunderstorm warning, DH went ahead and called the sheriff anyway and it's a good thing he did. The women had overshot the city park and were clinging to the bank of the river along a highway. All are safe and well and it only took minutes for the women to be found after the call was made. It should not surprise you that a camper called DH over to his site on Monday and said, "That guy was really weird." I asked if he was on drugs and DH said you could tell he had been drinking but even so, that's just nuts not to care if your wife and her friend are missing and have possibly drowned.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Dianne, you must have needed the rest. Glad DD2 got home safely----did she have power when she got back? Your church should think of a barrier--think Sam's Club, Michael's, and Stables have them so it could be removed later on. The rest stop I worry about is the one in Maryland before I cross over into PA and catch the turnpike.. I heard they put porta pottys up and no water for washing your hands---talk about not a clean place to go if they continued that.
Terri, you do sound tired. Hope you took an easy day yesterday and feel ready to hit the ground running today. Yes, the heat is probably playing a part in this. I was in and out in it on Monday with Reagann and was really dragging yesterday myself.
Betsy, I am now tired again after reading your post---LOL Did you get any of those bad storms up your way? I know Amy lost power and cell phone and TV service but had gotten her power back later on.
We went to Walmart yesterday and that was about it for me---just no energy once we got everything in and put away. My knees just did not like me at all yesterday. Michael, Ashlie, and Dom came be in the afternoon to fix our Disney again so that was a nice visit.
Hope to just stay in today and get s bit of housework done---or not---LOL
Have a good Wednesday.

My life is still at high speed but I have been thinking about all of you. We finished supper at 8 PM due to my PT appointment, voting, grilling and a Wal Mart run for the items my doctor wanted me to start using. One was coconut oil mixed with TeaTree oil to eliminate a skin tag. I am trying it now, it is supposed to just fall off but I don't know how many applications it takes. I am committed to exercising so I had to get out for my walk so the moral of the story is there aren't enough hours in the day! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had a nice day in town yesterday, but didn't get much done from my list. I made it to the dentist on time, which is always a good thing. We never know how many delays there will be with road construction and repair, but there was only one place where they were working and it didn't require a stop.

I filled a small cooler with veggies and took a basket and some produce bags from my stash so the ladies at the dental office could have something to put their veggies in. The were thrilled and excited to see the different things I brought and divided up the basketful between themselves. I took the rest to Jenny's house and she was just as happy. I had a nice visit there, but forgot to watch the clock and ended up missing the recycling center and had to bring all my junk home! What a disappointment that was! Oh well...it will be here next time I go to town, I suppose.

There's a new In & Out Burger in town and I thought about treating myself to a burger but was craving Chinese food. Unfortunately, I chose a Chinese place that has opened a drive-thru window and the food was terrible. Another disappointment and some expensive dog food, because I gave it to Rosie when I got home. If I was going to have a cheat day, I should've gone with something I was sure of. Oh well...I didn't need the calories anyway.

The fires that are burning on the nearby Reservation are making the air thick with smoke. That, in addition to the heat wave is making me so lethargic today that I decided not to go out to the garden. Instead, I'm going to work on knitting a baby dress and will likely take a nap.

I slept in WAY late today--I guess I really needed the sleep! So done with exercise (only did 20 minutes of Pilates--they are HARD) and shower.

DD2 arrived home safely. DD3 didn't have to work while she had company--DD2 was driving Fri and Mon and only visited Sat and Sun. They had a good time and DD2 was glad for AC and hot showers and a working fridge. She had to jump through some hoops with HR but MI wasn't on the "bad" list so not a problem.

The virtual baby shower was fun--most everyone was family so I got faces to put with the names that I have heard for a long time. The gifts being opened was the main thing and that was fine, too. I had a small package for my friend--her very own burp cloth to match the set I made for the daughter.

Betsy and Amy--you guys okay after the Midwest storms? I hope so. We worked fast to have our trees dealt with already--lots of others are still just lying in back yards. I am getting a little too old to keep doing this--the work took longer than it used to. BUT we saved a BIG pile of $$ so that was worth it.

Cathy--we found that the rest areas in PA were open and they were really cleaning them. They also had all the high windows open so the air was pretty fresh. Not everyone wore their mask but....too many people just won't. I avoid those people like they have the plague! I hope to get up to see DD2 again soon--or maybe she will come down here. Not sure but....I hope so.

Anne--your day sounds nice. That is lots of progress. Are the wedding programs counseling programs or bulletins from weddings he has presided at? Wasn't sure. Spending time helping a friend is a nice way to spend the day.

Lindie--sounds like you had a good time as well. Everyone is eating well! LOL I am REALLY watching it and actually may hit my 5% this challenge! That would be a miracle!

Terri, Betsy and Amy--I expect you are all busy with gardens/kids/running. I have to talk to DD1 and see how her toe is doing. She was so bummed.

Going to the sanctuary today to hear the potential music director play. Haven't been in the church for awhile again. There is a funeral on Monday--a 50-ish man died in his sleep last week. DH will have to help--they are livestreaming the funeral so only family will attend. Not thrilled that he is doing it but I do understand. They do not have any barriers like the stores and likely won't do that--but he should be 6 foot away so....

Hugs to all!

Dianne, that was a short trip but thinking DD2 needed a break from her place and a change in scenery so any trip was worth it. If I knew for sure that the one rest stop was open, I would head up to Joy's for a few days but the older I get and the worse my knees and hips are, a short trip is just not worth it. I know how painful a little toe can be---I have broke each of mine 3x. The first being the worst as it was at a 90 degree angle to my foot and had to be set---and I don't think he got it right as that toe is turned and that makes it hard for me to cut my toenail. I am sure your DH can avoid most of the people at the funeral if he is behind the sound booth. Maybe they should set up a barrier for that like at the registers.
Anne, wow, you didn't really have any relaxation on your day off. Will you have off Wednesday? Glad you got to enjoy lunch by the water again. You sure got a lot accomplished. How much more is there to do? What happened to the vow of poverty? LOL
Lindie, glad she could take you for the blood work and that you got some fresh produce while out. Didn't you check out those plums before you bought them?
Had a nice day with Reagann. Mom took away all electronics because of her attitude---but the child gets it from her mom---they clash because they are so much alike. But of course Shari won't admit that she is! We went to Big Lots first---didn't get much but that was okay. We came back home then because it was too early for lunch and she got to play on my tablet---she misses her switch more than the phone---LOL Then we went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch. We had to come back home as a storm was coming up---my windshield wipers are not working---and we had to bring Dh home---he didn't want to go to Michael's craft store anyhow. We played a round of Skip-bo then. After the storm passed, we headed out again and she got a few craft things at Michael's. We came back home and she got out my BB8 robot from Disney trip and chased Jade around with it---poor Jade---but she still hangs around no matter what you do to her so she is not so smart a cat. We took her home shortly after 5. We sat at the kitchen table talking about what they were going to do with Reagann for the school year. They are going to try the school online but also do a bit of homeschooling program, too. We came home and stopped at Arby's for an orange cream shake and Dh got a sandwich with his. I didn't want anything else because of lunch. I did think about stopping at Dairy Queen on the way home but it was just too hot to sit out in the car to eat my blizzard so we need to wait until it is cooler for me to get that. I was tired by the time we got home.
I think we are heading to Walmart today for bread and milk---otherwise no plans. Have a good Tuesday.

Lindie, glad your sister had time with her son and then you both had time together on Sunday. Sorry those plums were too soft. I am finding fruit is either hard as a baseball or soft as marshmallows. If you get them hard, they mush up rather quickly! Hope your bloodwork has good results. Nice of you to pay for breakfast to show your appreciation of getting your sister up early.

Numbers are going up. It doesn't surprise me due to the lack of people wearing masks. I can not get over how many people come into the gas station and don't wear one. Of course it doesn't help that no one who works there wears one. Though my boss, when she comes in will grab one or wear one in. She generally doesn't stay long unless she covers my shift.

I had another enjoyable day with Fr. B. We got a lot done. He has a lot of those "shelf" baskets. They had been full of things, now they are empty. He also had a number of boxes/bins on his 2 walk-in closet floors. Those have been either emptied or refilled with out of season clothes and replaced in the closet out of the walking area. We also went through the clothes bins and hope chest to pull items out that are going to be donated...they are in a box in my car. I also have a blanket for Rich...it is a very plush velour one that is similar to the one Fr. B gave me (thanks to his sister). I think Rich will be happy about that! We had lunch at the same place. Their lobster rolls are huge, but do have a hefty price tag. I am not a fan, but Fr. B is, so he enjoys them. I had their twin hot dog plate. Got my hot dog fix taken care of, lol! It was windy yesterday by the water, but we were prepared for it...no money flew away! Despite the plane noise, I do find it rather peaceful there and I told Fr. B. He agreed. When we got back to his rectory, I proof-read an article for him and then headed to the gas station. We actually made a plan for me to come next Monday. I think I will take that night off so that I won't feel bad if I am running late. It is nice to see so much progress getting made by him during the week and when I come to help.

I was quite late getting to work. Fortunately the gas pumper had no issues. I only did the absolutely necessary part of work, so I have to get moving!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone, its good to read the posts from over the weekend. I did not go to my sister's on Saturday - she was busy with her son and I suggested she spend the time with him and that we would do something the next day. Actually I am happy to just go for coffee and dinner and watch some tv but she has this need to go here and there and every where ... just gets in her car and drive and I am not into that ... anyway we did have a good time last night - she made salib. steak from a recipe, made too much, the gravey too thin -actually she just needed to let it thicken and then sent some of it home with me, I will tweek it for dinner - and I suggested to her the burger part was too dense and maybe next time flatten them more or make smaller portions - she was offended at first but then later realised it was a real heavy on the stomach meal and will do smaller burgers next time. Otherwise the meal was great ! She took me for my appointment this morning for blood work - the doctor sent the order in on line and I am happy for that - once that was done we went to A&W for breakfast and I paid for her's to compensate her for getting up early and driving me where I needed to go. We stopped at Kin's market and got some fruit but the black plums we got were way too soft, she didn't like them so is bring me them back and I will make either a sauce for topping ice cream or smothees either way I will use them I am not waisting them. We also got some cherries and some pears - I paid and gave her half of things - just a thank you for driving me here and there today.

Anne, I hope today is not as busy for you as it was the last work day ! OH MY - I hope that 35.00 got straightened out - might it have been a mistake from a new employee ? Have a nice time with Fr B and if you have lunch or have time for lunch have a nice lunch too !

Cathy, are you surprised that Reaghan's phone was taken away, or are you more concerned about why the phone was taken away or just annoyed that you could not call her on her phone ? What ever the case I hope you have a nice time with Reaghann and find fun things to do - it can be a surprise for both of you ! The DQ near where I used to live has opened and I loved their onion rings but not worth driving back to there to get an order, maybe one day but not today.

Dianne, OUCH to the broken toe - that can be so painful - I hope DD1 is managing ok and DD2 has a safe journey home and glad she enjoyed her weekend with her sister - glad you enjoyed the virtual baby shower. I know Cathy says she is tired of this virtual crap, but I honestly am so thankful for this way of seeing people - I know our meetings will continue for at least another year online - basically those numbers keep crawling up and here it's getting out of hand - every day a new exposure - mostly restaurants and night clubs or home made Rave events - glad I dont' do any of the last 2 ! I also enjoy meeting my friends at the park cause we can social distance and can have a good discussion and enjoy each other's company, course when fall hits they expect the out break to be worse -as it usually is with viruses ... What did you get done today ?

Terri, do drink your water, but dont' leave bottled water in the trunk of your car in the sun, that is not good - so I hope you have shade and an actual cooler or access to water - I boil all my water cause the city water tasts yuk - but I bet your stream water tastes great, do you have to test it from time to time for e-coli or anything like that ? When I was growing up we had well water and it tasted so good ! I think your garden is fabulous and I have been showing those interested in seeing your garden the pictures and they are happy to see someone with a decent garden, its hard to garden in the city even in my building there are NO balconies to do a balcony garden !

Betsy, I agree with Cathy, the kids came to see you not your house - do you think they would care if something was mis placed, messy or actually lived in ? I remember an episode in Everybody Loves Raymond where the wife was trying to clean for a dinner party and wanted the husband to help and he refused and complained to him mom that she always does the fake house for guests ... well... I thought that was a valid point - I dont' do the fake house but then again its just me and Gene and no visitors - I hope you had a good visit, and its' too bad S could not get the computer to work right - what will you do ? Actually when my sister said the plums were too ripe - and they are - I thought of you and your jam making and how some you salvage for ice cream topping and I think I am going to do the same with these plums, I think it would make a nice topping !

WELL I have been on here to long now and I need to get up off my butt ....

Cathy, bet there was a little green monster in you when you saw Joy's root beer float, lol! I have been seeing the Blizzard commercials and have been craving one. The one near us only has drive up service and then I have to take a right out of their parking lot...so I end up going in the wrong direction. I refuse to turn around in people's driveways, so I have to go a bit of a distance to go around a neighborhood that get me back to the correct side of the road. So I will be waiting for my Blizzard until I am heading away from home, lol! I wonder what Reagann did that made Sherri take the phone? Hope you have a good time with Reagann. At least while with you she may be distracted that she doesn't have her phone.

Dianne, so sorry about your DD1's broken toe. I hope it heals well and fast! Prayers for safe travels for your DD2's traveling. Sorry the wedding festivities are being postponed til next year, but personally I think that is a very good call by the couple getting married. Who knows what September will be like since we are having up-ticks in the virus numbers.

Fr. B reached out to me, so I am going to go over today instead of Wednesday. I went through the boxes. 1 was full of wedding programs, so that was a keeper. The other 3 boxes fit into one box and the rest is being trashed. I also remembered to fix the St. Patrick statue's crozier this morning, so that will go back. He is going to be surprised because I made some Snickerdoodle cookies and am bringing him 8 of them. I would have brought a couple more, but the container won't hold them. So what did I do...I ate 2, lol! There are 6 left from the batch. Guess I will have to eat them...unless J does for me. I do doubt that though...he generally doesn't eat many cookies.

Off and running! Have a good rest of your day!

Anne

Dianne, glad the power came on for your friends and they were able to have the virtual baby shower there and not at your house. What was it like? Honestly, I am over this virtual crap! That is how we are meeting for Master Gardener's and I have not even bothered to join in. I did put zoom on my phone so maybe that is why---it might be better on the bigger screen, but I doubt it. I want in person again! Glad DD2 and 3 are enjoying each other's company. Is DD3 still working while she is there? If so, what will DD2 do during that time? I keep seeing an ad for Dairy Queen and I am so craving a Blizzard so I am jealous of their visit to Culver. Last week one day was National Root Beer Float day and I texted Joy---so she went to our favorite place to visit---The White Turkey---which has amazing root beer floats and sent me a picture of hers. It did look good.
Amy, at least your Dh is familiar with that area. Finding a church will help with the move once you do it---but sometimes that takes a while to find the right fit. Been seeing your posts of your mileage----good for you!
Betsy, your DS was not coming to inspect the house. Hope you did not tire yourself out cleaning so that you could not enjoy the time with them. Glad they came to visit. Did they bring you any interesting news?
Terri, that is a whole lot of watermelons--good thing you have all those grands! No more putting off the water! maybe keep a couple of bottles of water in a cooler in your car just in case from now on. Nice of you to share with the dentist's staff. I am sure they will appreciate it. I agree that a weedy garden doesn't look appealing to anyone. My cucamelons are going everywhere---even crossed over the gap to connect with the tomatoes on one side. Lots of little blossoms but not many little melons forming yet. I thought our cucumbers were about done but more blooms have formed so I know we will have more cucumbers thru the end of August. Glad you had another viewing. The right buyer will come along eventually and hope it is one where you don't have to hold part of the mortgage.
Anne, glad you got some time by the lake---sounds like a nice place to sit and relax. Sorry about the paperwork---what a mess! And then J with his comments about your hair---I like your plan about commenting about his beard and mustache! LOL Hope you don't find any more Father B stuff..
I was glad our regular pastor was back. I called my sister out in Oregon. We talked for over an hour. Luckily she was not anywhere near where all the mess happened in Portland. We are trying to call each other once a month. Sometimes she calls me on her lunch break as she gets bored as she has an hour break. She did say they bought window ac units for their bedrooms as by early evening they get too warm but it cools down nicely by early morning but it was just too hot to sleep otherwise.
I couldn't get Reagann on her phone---it was just like I thought--her mom has taken it away for something---so I texted Shari to see if we could have her today and we will pick her up about 10 today. No idea what she will want to do since we couldn't communicate.
Looking forward to my Monday ---have a good one!

Morning! DD2 left DD3's this AM. Prayers for a safe drive! She'll be on the road till 6 PM EDT. They seemed to have fun--we got together to play a mystery game last night--DD1 joined in as well. She broke her toe Saturday night--was goofing a bit and hit the door jamb with her pinky toe and she is really in pain AND mad at herself. Poor baby--she NEEDS to run (her words) and can't even walk right now. And DD3 was disappointed--two friends will still get married in Sept but will postpone the party till next year--she had just decided that she WAS going to go to the festivities.

DH was at the church ALL afternoon yesterday--mounting a TV needed for the live stream and then last night he was building a shelf for the camera. I didn't see him except meals....I did have the virtual baby shower and it was fun to "meet" family members that I have heard talked about for years but had no idea what they looked like. I also saw the son who has had COVID since March. He is going better but will have another "bloodletting" since his blood actually gets too thick and puts him at risk for stroke. My baby blankets/burp cloths were a hit--only 2 other handmade items. I had also washed them in fragrance-free detergent and put a note to that effect with them in the box--she was very thankful!

Anne--I hope your boss finds the receipt for the $35! Glad you had some beach time and hope the boxes could all be trashed. I need to look at the library for some more audio books. I can listen and sew or even clean! I still haven't been to the salon--hubby has mentioned color but I don't want to be there that long. They were closed 3 days last week so I expect it is really crowded this week. ALMOST have enough hair to put it behind my ears and have it STAY!

Terri--sorry you got so "dry"--that can happen far too easily. I do hope the garden doesn't all hit at once but no matter what planning you do, it likely will. I know it worked that way when I was growing up. My brother's SO is doing lots of canning--different salsas, refrigerator pickles and who knows what else. Someone will come along to buy the house--only need one person.

Betsy--glad they drove up to visit! I expect DD1 was gone home and didn't get to see them. Was DD2 around?

Cathy--are you getting the hot and humid again? We still need more rain.

Amy--glad you are looking ahead. We still don't know where we want to go.

Well--time to get my exercise done. Chiropractor this week as well. And a gentleman at church died unexpectedly in his sleep on Wed--that funeral will be next week--livestreamed because of limited numbers allowed. DH will have to go help with that. Not thrilled but....

Hope everyone had a good Sunday!

Terri, good idea to share your crop with those you consider friends and it sounds like your dentist and team are in that category. Sorry you overlooked your need for water to the point of headache. Some might think how did you do that, but I totally get how you can do that! Glad all the water afterwards helped the headache dissipate. Glad you could take time to listen to your friend. Hope you hear from one of the parties about purchasing the house. Do you and Steve still have a lot to finish in order to complete the to do list? Good luck at the dentist today!

Betsy, how long did you DS and Simonne stay?

I am going to ignore J's negative hair comments, though I think there won't be too many until next time I need a hair cut (probably a month). Then I will use the when you shave then I will color, lol!

We did go to my sister's yesterday. It was much later than originally intended, so J never got the other errand done that was down in that direction. We picked up pizza along the way, so dinner was covered. I had forgotten how beautiful my sister's dog, Odin, is! After we ate the pizza, my sister and I sat closer to the lake and Odin was very happy to have us sitting with him. He still has too much energy for me, though. Sitting near the lake was so lovely. I didn't want to go home...J said it was time to go about an hour earlier than sunset. However, it was nice to get home before it was dark.

I saw a book, I think on GoodReads, that peaked my interest, Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks. I went to my Kindle shop and decided I didn't want to pay $9.99 for it. Not sure how the thought of checking my local library popped into my head, but it did. Well I am glad I did because I can now borrow 5 books via Hoopla. It's probably been there for ages, but I usually went to the library when I wanted a book. I am not sure if they are open, so that's why I went online. I think I'm about half-way through. It is an audiobook, which is not my favorite thing, but I think because it is a "domestic drama/suspense" rather than a spiritual book I'm content having it read to me. I do wish the f-bomb wasn't used. I'm not a prude and have been known to drop an f-bomb, but I find it very annoying when they drop them left and right in movies and books.

My scale went up this morning. I did expect it, but was hoping it wouldn't. I have not been good about what I've been eating lately. I need to pre-plan better. If I am too hungry I tend to grab the wrong things.

Going to go through the last few small boxes to see if they need to be brought over to Fr. B. I am hoping that most of it can be trashed. It was stuff that I had intended to do a long time ago, but never did because it was on the 3rd floor at the rectory. The boxes are in my car, so I need to get dressed and get started. I am hoping that I do not find other things in the rectory that belong to him! I would love to not have to bring anything over with me when I go visit!

Have a good Monday!

Anne

I'm back and have the house to myself again, except for the two dogs.

We didn't stay as long at the ranch as I usually do, and I could've stayed longer since I had my own car; however, the heat really zapped me on Saturday and I wasn't up for a long day today. I let myself get dehydrated on Saturday and got a headache that took a couple of hours and 3 quarts of water to cure. I am usually very conscientious about drinking water while I'm working, but was rushed to finish my tasks and then get back to town to pick Steve up at the shop at 5:00, so I didn't take the time to fill my water bottle at the house before I left the ranch. I won't do that again. My mouth was like dust and I didn't even had any gum to chew or fruit to assuage my thirst. Lesson learned!

Steve mowed the grass/weeds between the rows that would allow for it and I picked peppers, beans, black-eyed peas, squash, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. I need to snap & can beans and make some pickles pretty soon, but not tonight! He hadn't seen the garden in a while and was pretty impressed. I sent him back to work with plums and cherry tomatoes for his lunches and he took some squash for SIL to grill. I picked about a dozen bell peppers yesterday, too. I hope he remembered to take some of those! I am going to take a basket with me to my dentist appointment tomorrow, with some plastic bags for the ladies to share. We've been with this dentist since 1996 and know all the assistants and hygienists, and I know they will appreciate it.

Enjoy your visit with the kids while you can, Betsy. We'll be here to hear all about it when you can get back. You are so good about catching up.

Anne, I can't believe how opinionated J is about YOUR hair! I agree that you should offer your input about his facial hair since he's so free with his. That's too funny. On the other hand, maybe he sees you as his "arm candy" and wants to keep you "polished up"

Okay, I cracked myself up emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have never started coloring my hair and never will. My blonde is fading to ash a little more every day and I am going to let it. I do need a trim, but will probably have one of the grand girls do it for me because I hate salons and paying for something I can do myself.

***
Back after taking a phone call from a friend. She's having some issues and needed someone to bounce things off of. Now my eyelids are heavy, so I'll just go to bed.

I'm behind on reading all your posts but will try to catch up today when Steve drives me out to the ranch to get my car. I've been using his truck for a couple of weeks because he was transporting equipment back to the shop on weekends and didn't need it. We left my car out there since I didn't need it and Steve could ride with SIL. This week, SIL has an appointment on Friday, so will be leaving to come home on Thursday night and that would leave Steve without a vehicle...so now we're all back to using our own rigs.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, so will see if I can meet up with some family while I'm in town. Will also pick up a few things at the store. I'm starting to get enough cucumbers to make pickles, so will need to buy more vinegar for that.

Cathy, I'm not concerned about what other people think about my cardboard weed mats. I mainly want them to do the job for me; however, I do love a beautiful garden and like to keep it as nice as possible. I would rather look at the cardboard than at lots of overgrown weeds that I can't keep up with, but with the vines covering everything, I don't have to. We are still mowing between the rows where we can.

I must have 50 watermelons on the vines and about 6 that will ripen close to the same time. I'm not worried about too many because I know there will be a line of boys waiting and a couple of them could handle a whole melon on their own.

Betsy, I haven't caught up with your computer saga, but hope you're able to get things resolved soon. I hate tech problems!

We had another party look at the house yesterday but I haven't heard any feedback yet. So far, it's been "love the house, but it's not what we're looking for" or "I will buy it if I can find the money..."

Steve's ready to take off, so I have to run.

Betsy, no stacks of Bibles needed! So glad DS & Simone are visiting. I know how tough it is to not see the kids for so long! It's been since Christmas time for us, too! I'm sure they won't see the "needed help" when they come by! Enjoy your visit!

I swear upon a stack of Bibles that this is true, I was just about to start catching up when the phone pinged and it was DS. He and Simone are on their way up for a visit! emoticon I don't know how long they can stay but it won't be overnight. That puts a wrench into my plans but I don't care! We haven't seen them since December 25 so this is a great surprise. The house needs a little ( or a lot ) of help before they arrive so I better get moving.

Hi all!
Amy, so glad you are still working on your dream. Sounds like you have a good plan and a way to get connected with others when your dream becomes a reality!

Dianne, glad you didn't have to hurry to de-clutter an area for the baby shower. I'm sure the grandmother and daughter were glad to have their power and internet return! Glad your girls are having some fun together. I wouldn't mind one of those "blizzard-like" yummies! Nice of you to be part of the staying connected team. From what I understand we also have a team involved in that ministry.

Cathy, glad Howard was able to clean up the sand. Did the patio or walkway get ruined with all the rain and erosion? Yay to fresh tomatoes! Yesterday we had a salad with store bought ones and the skins on them were too tough for my appreciating the inside flavor. I will not take any of them in my salad today. Glad the ground beef prices were lower at Sam's Club and you could buy more than one package if you wanted. Boo to one package of toilet paper stipulation! I am thinking about buying more each time I shop so that I won't be in a panic should there be none available...like so many other things that aren't available much.

Lindie, I am not a big fan of some of the toilet paper out there. I find if it is very "cushy for the tushy" it falls apart once wet. I don't want that!!! At least Gene is using the piece of equipment and didn't spend $200 and put it in a drawer or closet. Yay to having dinner with your sister. Glad your convention videos and instruction went well. Do you review your notes often?

Betsy, hope you had a good time with DD1. Any more word on Fr. C? How is his Dad?

Terri, hope your weekend is going well. Any new babies yet...the expectant Moms are due soon, aren't they?

Work was a major PIA yesterday. Again, numbers didn't jive! I am really getting sick of this! I need a vacation and soon! When I went in the mechanic who does the stickers said..."Good luck with this!" He did 11 inspection stickers but had payments for 12. He doesn't handle the payment aspect. I told him it probably belongs to the repair drawer and the boss put the money in the wrong drawer. Nope...repair drawer didn't need when I did a quick check of it. So I had to wait until the actual changeover to begin my paperwork. The gas drawer didn't need it either. All I can think is that someone paid for a sticker that they got earlier in the week, but didn't pick their car up until yesterday, paid cash for it, and then took their copy of the bill as well as our copy of the bill. I finally did up all the paperwork with out $35 (the cost of 1 sticker) being included in any of the drawers. Then I called my boss and told her that I had an extra $35 and maybe she can figure out why. It is so annoying, especially on a Saturday! I can be out on a Saturday in about an hour if the all the paperwork is done properly! Afterwards I went to have my hair cut. J was complaining about my hair color. I had about an inch cut off and that made the numerous colors seem to blend better. It actually looked like I had highlighted my hair. When I got home J actually thought I had my hair colored, lol! I told him the stylist recommended waiting until the next hair cut or perhaps the following so that she would be working with "virgin" hair. I did kind of stretch the truth. The stylist didn't recommend it as much as agreed with my thought process. I do not wish to color my hair and am hoping that as it grows out it will look fine and if he gives me grief I will tell him I will color it when he gets rid of his beard and mustache, lol! When I was done at the salon, I intended to go to Kohls to drop off Fr. B's Amazon return, but the auto-pilot took me home, lol! J joined me in making the drop off, stopping at the supermarket gas station so I could get $.90 off/gallon, Home Depot for a couple of plants, and Ocean State Job Lot (like Big Lots) for coffee. By the time we got home it was almost 6:00. We cooked corn and pork chops on the grill and had salad and watermelon with it. By the time we ate and cleaned up it was almost 8:00! Off to bed we went, lol!

Today I have been to online Mass that Fr. B presided at, listened to 3 other sermons (did the fast forward thing) and listened to what the Three Days of Darkness that Padre Pio talked about. Now we need to get moving along...J hopes to meet up with my BIL to give him some documents regarding the site he is working on. My BIL works for the owner of the land. Of course, he hasn't talked with BIL yet...so who knows if that is going to happen. If it doesn't I don't know what we will do...maybe I can get him to get a fire going and start burning some of the old wood we have. Oh yeah, and get the gopher trap set up...fingers crossed that we catch the gopher and not some of the other critters that travel the yard, lol!

Have a good rest of your Sunday!

Anne

Hello! Just checking in to say hello! I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday! Still looking for jobs/housing in Colorado. Keepin' the dream alive haha
For those who asked, hubby used to live in the Springs when he was in the army. But no, we don't have family there, or even know anyone. Kind of exciting!
I think if we move there, we can join a church and then it wouldn't take long for us to know people. Leaving our church here will be super hard though. I just need to make a huge change. I don't like ruts and don't want to be stuck in one.

Morning! Yes, Cathy--Culver's is a soft serve custard place--started in WI and we have been to the original. DD 2 had oreo and cookie dough in a "concrete"--like a blizzard from Dairy Queen. They have separately told me that they are having fun! I know DD2 is appreciating hot showers and AC. DD3 doesn't run her AC very much so she is being generous as she was when we were there.

Lindie--sounds like you were having a good weekend. We are still in need of rain--weather said we are still 9 inches short, even with all the rain that North Jersey got. I am NOT sore--I am surprised! I was a little stiff on Friday after doing all that work on Thursday but no residual stiffness or pain! Guess I am getting into better shape! (Hubby does say "round is a shape" but....not what I am after!)

We ran the baby shower gift down to the grandma yesterday--almost ended up hosting the shower cause grandma had no power and daughter had no internet but both have come back. I would have been FRANTIC dealing with the clutter! LOL That is at 2 today. Should be interesting.

Enjoy your services--I will be alone again today but DD2 will watch from MI and my folks will be on in WI.

Dianne, isn't Culver's like a soft ice cream place? HOpe they enjoyed that visit and got something scrumptious. I saw 3 cardinals darting around my veggie plants the other day---definitely one female and I think 2 males---maybe her offspring. I knew she was a cardinal by her being with the males since she only has a bit of red on her. It is a shame when big oaks fall but hope someone gets some good firewood out of them or some lumber. If they fell near Steve, I am sure they would use their sawmill to make good lumber out of them---LOL
Lindie, nice of your sister to fix dinner for you. Thanks for adding to my shares--LOL
Dh puttered around outside yesterday and got all the sand off the sidewalk. I was right that we needed the shovel for part of it. I did go out and picked some more grape tomatoes and one of the bigger ones. I had a nice salad for lunch with some of the tomatoes added in. That's about all the excitement I had yesterday.
Glad it is Sunday---looking forward to church. Have a good day!

Hello friends, dropping in before I head over to my sister's she is making dinner - yesterday she brought church's chicken for dinner ! Was nice and saved some for lunch today. No rain today, sun is back and it is warming up again. Had rain all last night but honestly we need about a week of rain !

Dianne, glad the two girls are together and having a good time - now that you are no longer self quarenteening, what do you have planned to do, are you back to walks for your coffee ? Are you sore from working the tree branches cleaning ?

Anne, wow you had a busy busy day - hope you found something fun to do to relax after that !

Cathy, I only buy toilet paper when we are on our last package, I like one kind, Gene likes another - his kind is too ... dusty - too much paper dust comes out of it - speaking of Gene, last night we went ot Walmart and between the two of us we fed your shares by 300.00 LOL I bought books to take notes at some meetings and watching the convention videos - today was saturday afternoon's program - very enjoyable - the bible drama this year is Nehemia and building the walls of Jerusalem and what they endured back then. Gene bought a muscle stimmulator thingy from "dr ho" - I was not impressed with him spending 200 on that but it was his choice and he is using it and he says it is helping with his leg muscles so he is happy on that score !

Betsy sorry your computer continues to be a dud - good of you to offer your computer, but do remind DH that it is your computer and at times you need it too - it makes sense to let dh use it when you are working but when it's evening and you have things to do, he shoudl relent and let you have the computer - I am sure you will both find a schedule that meets what needs to be done at least till your other computer is fixed. I prefer lap tops they come fully loaded but can still have issues, my camera and speakers on this one work fine - the wifi does not ... anyway I look forward to your next post when you can post.

Terri, I hope your having a good weekend with family and garden and such! Is Steve home ?

Amy hope all is well !

Time to go - post again later !

Morning! DD2 arrived safely at DD3's last night. Betsy--Culver's was first on the list of "do things" because DD2 hasn't had one for at least 3 years and maybe longer! They will go at least once more.

Yesterday was okay--didn't work too hard at anything but did get a good long walk. Made my church calls--we are in contact with all members that way--about 20 of us are calling. I dread it until I am doing it and then it is okay. Made my calls while out walking. Sure are a lot of places with big trees down--one section of road was closed--looks like 2 giant oaks fell--one hangs over the neighbor's pool. What a mess and so many lovely trees are gone.

Betsy--I do hope the repair place gets you a NEW one! And yes, your DH should not be using your computer for teaching. Hope all goes better!

Cathy--we had some rain but not too bad. Raining this AM and hubby was planning a run. They are saying we are "saturated" but not in our county--no standing water yet. Still lots of generators in the background.

Anne--I do hope you find something fun to do. We have to run my baby shower gift to the hostess today. It is a virtual baby shower and I do want the gift there--I made 2 receiving blankets and coordinating burp cloths.

Lindie--enjoy your watermelon. DH got ours into the fridge so we'll have some tonight. Our quarantine is done so we can be a bit more "out and about".

Amy and Terri--hope things are going well for you.

I did yoga yesterday so need to really do something more today. I did have a pair of Eastern goldfinches and cardinals in the yard! So pretty to watch! The finches were eating the seeds from the black eyed Susans.

Betsy, doesn't the school provide him with his own laptop? If not they should with this online teaching. All our teachers now have a laptop as they use it in the classroom to teach with---no more overhead projectors or even the camera projectior with all the smart technology out there the laptop is a necessity. Sorry your Dh has that awful shift this weekend. Hope the campers behave. Nice that DD1 can come watch the kids while you go to your doctor appointment.
Dianne,,wow, you did a lot of hard work that day with the limb clean up---saw your workout minutes when I posted mine for yesterday. Hope DD2 has safe travels and enjoys her time with her sister.
Lindie, the temps haven't been as high with is nice but the air is very close---the humidity makes it feel worse--but not as bad as when the temps are higher. I often sit with something over my feet and knees and have just given up on wearing shorts except occasionally.
Anne, that was a busy day! Hope you do find something fun to do today and that your shift at the station goes swiftly today.
We did go to Sam's Club yesterday---hamburger prices have dropped there and no sigh saying only one package. But still that sign back at the toilet paper---LOL---I will never let our toilet paper get low again after this! Storms were predicted but didn't occur until midnight. Mst have been torrential as my back sidewalk is covered with sand on a good portion of it. Might have to get Dh to remove some with a shovel before I try sweeping the rest off. Never seen it like that before. He will have to check for more branches down, too. Maybe a bit more rain today but doesn't look likely as the day goes on.
Have a nice Saturday!

Hi all! Happy Saturday!

Betsy, I am sorry your webcam replacement isn't working either. Hope someone can figure it out for you. Does the school provide teachers with equipment? Maybe DH can borrow something for the time being.

Lindie, yay to finding watermelon...enjoy it! Glad your doctor is checking your blood before prescribing meds. So often they just put a person on a diuretic to reduce swelling and then check other things later. Hope that all you need is a diuretic and that your body can handle it! Good to just listen to Gene and then make the suggestion you did about acknowledging the coworker but follow the practitioner. How long before the coworker retires?

Dianne, you and your dh did a lot of work, so you were justifiably tired yesterday morning! Did your energy pick up during the day? I bet you are right about the money saved by doing it yourselves! Hope the town picks up the debris soon!

Cathy, glad you didn't have more debris from the storms that had gone through on Thursday. Did you get more storms yesterday? Is the rain cooling the temps for you or is it just bringing more humidity, which can make it still seem hot when the temperature is not that high?

Terri, you and your family sure are busy with all the gardening and animal caring and sending to the butcher. Does the butcher cut the meat into area chunks or break it down more like the grocery stores have? Did you get your packages out? When is Steve getting a break from work so that he can be home for a bit?

Amy, I saw the lovely sunrise you posted. Early morning runs can provide a lot of glory along with the exercising!

I didn't realize that I never posted yesterday. I did come on and read posts, but guess I thought I would get to it "later" and never did. It was a long day which had some curve balls attached. I was planning to go to the grocery store for the rectory and never made it, but did pick up some sanitizing supplies with Rich from the local vendor that we use for toilet paper and paper towels. When I got to the gas station I couldn't believe the amount of parts invoices that I had to file. I had a lot of customers that I had to take care of too...the most I have had to handle in a long time. The phone kept ringing, too! Sometimes the gas pumpers handle the customers at the desk, but they were busy with gas sales at the pumps. There were 2 on last night because we had a newbie in training. J met me at the gas station so that we could leave the Camry for an oil change, then we picked up Chinese food for dinner. We didn't get home til almost 8:00. Yes, it was a long, long day!

No plans for the weekend yet, except picking up those few things for the rectory this morning and work at the gas station right after. Hope something fun comes along!

Have a great Saturday!

Anne

Afternoon everyone, I found my emoticon and now I can enjoy when it is warmer again, today is very cool and I am loving it - i had my dr's appointment and before he prescribes anything he is having blood work done to ensure no other issues and the kidneys can handle the meds - I am glad he is smart enough to do this. The appointment was over the phone and the lab requests have been sent directly to the lab, I just have to show up after a 10 hour fast s0 I said I would do that Monday morning and try to be there first thing in the morning. The swelling is not so bad today but still very noticable ...

Dianne, wow you got all that work done, make sure you put that time in spark somehow and get that credit for that. Sorry your daughter is without power - we have lines above, not in the ground - not sure how I feel about that - the phone lines are under ground ... cable too ...

Cathy hope you had a nice day and that the storms actually cool you off but not too much - I can just see you on the couch with a blankie if its too cool - lol

Terri, it's your garden and you are being environmentally friendly with it, don't worry about what other people think - they are not putting in the work that you are ! Hope you got a good haul today too !

Betsy, this lap top is not even a year old and the wifi connector went - I just hard wired it and called it a day, its the last one - I do not want any more computers especially since I still have smart devices that do the same thing. I hope that sometime this weekend you have time to relax and enjoy the roses - or lavender or hummingbirds or something peaceful !

Anne how did your day go today ?

Amy hope all is well !

Morning! It is raining here--like Cathy said, we need it to make up for the last couple of months.

Anne—we lost big parts of trees with the storm. One fell in the street and the township cleaned that up but we had to do the rest. Figure our day of hard labor was worth at least $1500. DD2 still has no power but she left this AM to go see her sister in Michigan—took lots of fridge stuff with her. Our development has our power lines underground but most of NJ does not.

Lindie—glad Gene is learning to tune out poor advice from co-workers.

Terri—my mom always made watermelon rind pickles—lots of green food dye, too. I loved those and I am not a fan of sweet pickles. Glad you had more cardboard to use.

Cathy—people could hear our generator—just like all the others! The street behind us still doesn’t have power. The township is doing a “special” pick-up cause they know so many people lost trees/branches and they WILL put it out so they’d better pick it up!

Betsy—while I’m not glad your computer was defective, I am glad to know it wasn’t “operator error”! My folks have commented on the cooler but nice weather—hope you have enjoyed it!

I was so tired last night! I just sat and watched some TV. Today is also going to be a quiet one! Time now to get my exercise done!!

DH works 4- midnight today and tomorrow so I will have time to at least take notes, if not post. Yes, I am very happy that today is Friday, I am ready for a break. My GYN physical is Monday and DD1 is coming in to stay with the kiddos as DD2 has to work. The weekend arriving brings us closer to seeing DD1 again. emoticon I am glad the east coast team members made it through the storm.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Dianne, glad the power is back on in your community. Wonder if people wondered why you had lights and they didn't at night. Hope your dd2 gets power back on before she leaves---unfortunately, I think the freezer stuff will be a total loss by now. Glad your township picks up the branches if you put it out by the curb. Sounds like there is quite a bit down in your area. We haven't left our house since it happened but the news has been showing the damage around the area---we had a total of 7 tornadoes touch down---5 fairly close and the other 2 up around Dover. Someone posted on Facebook saying this is on par for what 2020 has brought to us here---before this a tornado was a very rare thing and then we had that many in one day. I had to agree---adding insult to injury kind of thing.
Anne, glad you didn't lose power. I don't think the power companies were expecting this kind of damage---either that or they can't be prepared because of the restrictions of Covid.
Lindie, glad you could just listen to Gene---he does have to deal with it himself---the other guy doesn't understand Gene's disease so of course he was an idiot. Glad you got some rain for the grass and hope it cools it down up there.
Terri, hope you got the package off. I don't know why you worry about what others would say about your garden---I think they would just drop their mouth open from the very size of it and not have anything bad to say---LOL I know when someone grows watermelon around here for the market, they lay down the black landscape fabric between rows, so you are just using something biodegradable for the same reason. I don't like sweet pickles either---I have had them growing up and know I didn't really care for them.
Howard's sister's birthday gathering is not this weekend but next weekend. We are still planning on going.
WE had several storms yesterday---some of the rain came down quite heavily at times. Dh did got out after one to see if any more branches came down but there was none that he saw. We are definitely making up for the lack of rain in June and July. I did get some housework done since it was cooler in the kitchen. And I have cooked dinner the last couple of nights so that has been a nice change.
It's Friday---sure Betsy is glad about that. More storms on the agenda today here. Have a good one!

The pigs have gone to the butcher and are now in the freezer, Lindie. There are chickens who can eat the rinds, but most will likely go into the worm bin. Your advice to Gene was good. When considering unsolicited advice, my motto is "Take the meat and spit out the bones". Meaning--think about it and apply what you feel is good advice and then just discard the rest.

Cathy, I've never made or eaten pickled watermelon rinds. I think I looked up a recipe once and saw that it was a sweet pickle and none of my crowd likes them sweet. I'd be willing to give them a try, though. I made sweet baby gherkins last year and they're kind of...meh...and I like the store-bought kind. I think I taste too much clove in mine.

I need to run down to the post office and mail a package to be sure it gets out in today's mail, so can't stay and chat more. Then I'm off to the garden again. I mowed about half the small orchard yesterday before I ran out of gas in the mower, but it got the grass down where the watermelons are spreading onto the grass so then I was able to lay out more cardboard for the vines to crawl on. With all the rattlesnakes we've had this year, I want to keep the grass short and can't do it if my watermelons are there. It's working well and doesn't look trashy because the vines are covering the cardboard.

Good morning Friends, its a rainy day here so far this morning - love the rain now hope it helps the brown grass and cool it down. I just booked my online appt with the dr to see about my swelling ankles - the left foot is more swollen then the right - but no discoloration. Gene is home today - yesterday seems to be more trying for him as he "had to talk about it" so I listened as best I could and tried not to tell him what to do as he may have just needed a sounding board. Today he is off - his leg gave out on him at work and the person training him was not very ... helpful and started telling him what to do in his personal life - I just told Gene to acknowledge what the guy said and continue doing what your medical practitioners tell you. The guy is retiring and has his "set way" of doing security - told Gene to be patient and make it his own when the guy retires.

Dianne, glad you did not have a lot of damage and yes you will get a good work out clearing those branches and what not. We are not prepared if the power goes out but we are on an emrgency gride kinda thing so our power seldome goes out. Only that one power outtage we have had in 4 years of living here.

Anne glad you had a good day yesterday and was able to help out Fr B - yup laffed at you both being too short - me too !! I would need a good high step ladder lol

Cathy take your time cleaning up or getting DH cleaning up - will give him something to do - when do you go to your SIL for her birthday ?

Betsy sorry to hear your computer is still not fixed, I hope it was not because you were muted and did not know that ... in Zoom you do have an option to type messages - Your DD2 is just going to have to realise that this virus is not going anyway any time soon and has to learn to live with it as we all do - wash hands and social distance is the only preventative right now - the mask does not protect the wearer - it protects those around the wearer and should only be worn when you can not social distance such as grocery stores - or other kinds of line ups - boy I can tell you the school system here in Canada is under attack by parents and teachers not wanting to do what the government has set out as standards - one is going so far as to filing a class action law suit against the Provincial Government because they want to decide who will be in their son's "bubble" and that the number is too high - so glad I do not have to deal with these things, but I was thinking of all my friends here who work in the school system itself ... I dont' know how law suites go down there so I can't comment on Charlie ... I was not a witness to anything anyway ... hope it all works out for the best.

Terri, I want watermellon too, some how your picture made me think that I had bought a small one but can't find one in the fridge, maybe I forgot to put it on the thingy at the grocery store but no water mellon here. I read once that the more scared the mellon is on the outside, the better inside. Not sure - can you feed the rinds to the pigs ? Are there pigs still or have they gone to market ?

Amy hope all is well in your neck of the woods...

Time for me to get off here, talk with you all later ...

Hi all!
Dianne, glad you have your power back. Hope DD2's power returns soon. Good luck getting those trees taken care of. Are you trimming them or did I miss that they fell/broke?

Cathy, yay to having your yard picked up. Hope you get some rain, but nothing torrential! When is Howard's sister's birthday and are you still going?

Things are cleaning up well around here...at least it seemed that way as I drove home from Boston. Last night I got a report from National Grid (our electricity provider) that about 2/3's of the people who lost electricity have it back and that they will be working diligently to restore the rest as quickly as possible. Since I haven't lost electricity due to Isaias, I can't complain. It would be nice if the wires were underground. I'm going to have to ask J if the sites he is developing are putting them underground. It would be nice not having the wires hanging and the poles leaning, lol!

Time to get back to work.

Have a good Thursday!

Anne

Morning! Our power is back but many are still out. Our entire town lost power. If the lines all went underground, we'd have minimal outages but the cost for doing that is very high. Trees came down and, while they trimmed lots, that cannot be controlled by the power company. DD2 still has no power. She has moved stuff from the fridge to the cooler and is just leaving the freezer alone. She has lots of ice in there so hopefully it will hold well enough.

Anne--sounds like a nice day! Glad you got to visit!

Betsy--your DD2 will need to decide safe or conservative! Lots more people in WI are going to test positive. You do have your hands full. I am guessing the computer may be a "lemon" and replaced?

Lindie--I do hope Gene is eating during his shift. Glad he likes the 12 hour shifts--I would not.

Cathy--we have till 8/17 to get all the branches out for pick up. WE are heading out now to work on the 4 in the back yard.

Terri--I would love the winter squash. Zucchini are okay but I LOVE acorn squash and lots of the little "new" varieties as well. Glad you got a lot planted.

Amy--Hi! DD1 did 10 miles on her birthday and 14 the day before. I know she'll hit 35 this week.

Out to the trees! Supposed to get rain--we'll see!

Anne, sounds like you had a nice visit and got some things done for Father B. Glad he likes the other priest he is working with. LOL to the fact that both of you were too short to do the top shelf. Glad Father B has also been doing a lot of his own unpacking---afterall, he needs to put things where he wants them. How many rooms are just his? Did you know that Big lots has Broyhill furniture now? You might check out their recliners and watch for a sale there.
Betsy, I don't get these virtual court rooms---what happened to being able to face your accuser? I don't like this trend at all. Glad he won't have jail time but did he have to admit to something to get that? DD3 needs to face that if she goes out she has to face the risk of running into someone who tests positive. Plus with her own dad working with the public and not wanting to wear a mask, there is a big risk there, too. Good luck dealing with her. So much stress on you having to calm her down.
Terri, glad you shared with Sarah---afterall, there is only you at home with Steve working so much. Of course the kids are getting antsy for the good stuff---LOL Do you ever do anything with the rinds? Those are some big squash. Will they store well in those new containers you got for the winter?
Dianne, glad the city picked up the branches you had already taken to the curb. Hope DD2 gets power back soon but it didn't sound good on the news this morning about the power outages. I think they are right in saying the power companies did not prepare well for this storm. I definitely have seen better preparation around here when they talk about other storms. But wonder if the virus has something to do with this.
Lindie, glad Gene seems to enjoy being back to work. Hope he does eat on his break--for a 12 hour shift he will need some fuel---and hope he takes a snack for his breaks too. I am supposed to get a break as well as lunch but rarely can fit it in. Just bought stuff we needed at Walmart and a gift card for Howard's sister's birthday.
Chance of storms here today---already had some rumbling and it is turning dark outside. Dh cut up a lot of the bigger stuff yesterday and put what he could in our trash container. He said it might take 3 weeks to get it all taken care of but at least it is in a pile out of site.
Have a good Thursday.

Hi all!
Betsy, sorry your computer is taking so long. Why is the guy willing to give you another computer without cost? That is nice, though! Glad no jail time for Fr. C. Prayers that the rest will be dropped! Prayers for his Dad and his SIL.

Lindie, glad you got some exercise time in and the sandals didn't bother you with the walking. Hope Gene doesn't overdo it and does eat! He sounds much happier now that he is working full shifts.

Terri, awesome plants! J would be soooo jealous! His tiny garden isn't doing well...he just hasn't had the time with it that he usually does with his gardens. He comes home at 6:30-7:00 and is too tired to go out to it. When will Steve be home again?

Dianne, hope you and DD2 got your electricity back. Glad you didn't get damage to your property. Did they take the branches that you collected? We could have used more rain, too, but not the torrential type that we actually got for a very short time yesterday.

Cathy, glad you didn't get hit with any of those tornadoes and that you didn't have any property damage. What did you buy at Sam's or Walmart?

My tummy did feel better yesterday about noon-time. I did end up going over to Fr. B's with the aforementioned items and didn't have to hurry back because my boss took the shift for me. He was pleased with his plants and glad I rescued his folding chair (in a sack) that he can leave in his car in case he has a need for a chair while out and about. We emptied 2 of the 3 shelves of a hallway closet so he now has storage space for things like his luggage and some additional pillows. We couldn't reach the top shelf...we are both too short, lol! His rooms are getting more and more organized. I am quite impressed with all he is actually doing during the week. When we finished getting things settled back in their place (had to move some things around in order to do some of the work) we went to lunch at our regular place. We ate outside. It was absolutely lovely...the temps were a bit warm, but the ocean breeze took care of that. We saw some really big planes landing and taking off. It was kind of different today, though. We talked a lot about non-church things. He seemed much more content and relaxed. The priest (pastor) he is working with is outgoing and seems easy going. I think J just got home...think I heard the car door. Back tomorrow!
