drinking more water
having a plan before the day starts
time alone
plenty of sleep
A good walk outside in the sunshine

What does work for me is a clean diet most days. That means lean meat cooked without fat. It is eating mostly fresh veggies and fruit and making sure that I have them several times during the day.

What does work for me is keeping the problem foods out of my house most of the time. That means that when I make something fun, I send it home with my guests. I will have had a serving or two and will be content. Eating leftovers isn't working for me.

What works for me is drinking my water when I walk through the kitchen or by bringing my bottle to work and keeping it at my hand when I can.

What works for me is planning and packing my lunch and snacks for work. I make sure that I have good choices and food that I enjoy so I have a variety of different choices. Pomegranates are my favorite this week.

What works for me is going to bed on time and getting enough rest. Being tired does not help me stay on track.

That's what works for me.

The thing I'm working on now is being more aware of my body signals and eating when I'm hungry instead of prescribed times.

I had imagined this thread being different than it is. However, thanks to those who have shared.

I know that making lots of carbs when I am hungry does not work for me. But, I don't have to banish everything from my house.

I know that just eating something because I won't be able to later is a load of hoey that I need to avoid. I really need to work on being sensible and including prayer in the equation.

What doesn't work for me is a restricted diet or lifestyle. I live in a world with people who like to eat pizza, cake, ice cream, fruits, veggies, and even drink water. I also live in a world where people sometimes don't get to the gym and don't always get their exercise in.

Reality is that in a perfect world I would eat 100% the right foods and would work out regularly. I work long days and have children and grandchildren and like to go to a restaurant once in a while. I even like chocolate.

My current plan is to eat as healthy as I can but not obsess about food. I will eat the less healthy choices when I want but not every day.

What doesn't work for me?
When people try to shame me into doing something, I just shut down.

I do not like the way Chef Ramsey yells at his young apprentinces.
I do not like the way the Jillian yells at those trying to lose weight on the Biggest Loser.

If someone tried to "help" me like that it would cause me to shut down.
