He has a nice meat grinder. Our family likes to hunt so we like to process our own venison. He is always finding good deals on meat and like to make sausage and whatever else he can. The best tasting spice what he gets from the local grocery store butcher. Allot of those store bought spices have MSGs in them. We avoid that, but not as diligently as we should. Even with all the fat he saves from pork chops, it's still very lean. Now, why did he learn to make cookies? I guess that's a whole new subject... Thanks for your ideas on the recipe calculator!

When I put a recipe in, I also save it in my cookbook/recipe book. I put in recipes that I use quite often so when I do my nutrition tracker, I can use it easily and I have the recipes readily available. I also use it to share with my children.

It has taken a lot of work but I have learned to like some foods with less rich ingredients. Now I find that I don't really enjoy the higher fat foods as much as I thought I did.

It may be hard but start by adding more veggies to your meals. You can still enjoy your favorite foods, but you may find that you don't eat as much of it and you are eating healthier.

My hubby does make sausage and it's very lean! He likes to get the spices from the grocery store meat department. He gets pork on sale and cuts the fat off, and saves it. Then he will grind up a roast and add the fat. and it's still tons leaner than anything you can buy. I would use some whole wheat in it instead of white flour. Other than that I probably wouldn't change much......... Sounds really yummy!

i don't give easily hahahah. sauceage is high in fat even turkey which does not taste good at all somewhere i just thought of it I saw where you could make your own sauceage if you made it yourself and it could be a whole lot less fat. with spices and all of that.. that could be interesting then spicing it up.. i have to try and remember where i saw that. anyway maybe in church don't remember anyway i will try and think about ways to make it healthier. i read somewhere you can buy whole wheat corn meal..that would help sub the eyes with egg whites milk powdered. cheese low fat , then it is halopino peppers and cheese maybe put in fat free cottage cheese and cut the cheese down by 2/3 .

So have you given up on your corn bread? Or do you just use portion control? Have you entered it in the recipes?

I tried to put my bread recipe on here, but I couldn't find it again. It's been a long time. I'm not much for doing recipes, because Hubby does most of the cooking. But I still make the bread.
