I don't know that I have ever been to Las Vegas. I was born in Reno. But, I have not spent much time there either.

The missionaries here are not always careful about the 1 1/2 hour rule. Especially on holidays when it is hard to find people willing to talk to you. They kind of invited themselves to Thanksgiving that year. I have boys around missionary age and have for a while so they enjoy being in my home.

Right now we have sisters so we have not had that connection. Last time I forgot and could not have them over for dinner the way that I wanted. So we gave them food.

Anyway enjoy the temple. It will be awesome for you.

Las Vegas is south and west of Utah and Arizona. There is a road that goes from Las Vegas to towns in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is between Utah and this road.

My brother and nieces live in Las Vegas. My mother and stepfather. used to clean the carpets in the church houses there. It was right before all the missionaries got cellphones, so they came to the church often to meet and make calls. She got to know a lot of them. It is a great place to serve. Lots of members to offer support and lots of investigators. People go there to change their lives and improve their lives. It makes sense that they would find the Gospel.

I think all the temples, even the old ones are handicapped accessible. Some are more obvious than others, but they all have elevators and access.

Enjoy your dedication and I look forward to hearing about your experiences. It is such a wonderful opportunity.

Teaching one to knit, that must have been fun for the both of you....

These fellas really stick pretty close to the 1 1/2 hour rule....Not much time to do much other than eat and a little discussion......

Wish I could find the other part to my knitting machine and I could be doing a lot of knitting right now. They (whoever "they" may be.....) are predicting a lot of snow this winter.....

sorry my dyslexia got the better of me. California is west of Nevada. Arizona and Utah are East.

Christmas with the missionaries would be fun. We have had them over for Thanksgiving before. I taught one to knit on Thanksgiving.

There has been a temple in Cardston for many many years (decades?). It has recently been renovated and sis says they have lots of stairs, but after renovation she thinks there is an elevator there now too. It is a sizable temple but it is over 7 hours away. They built the one here in Edmonton in the 90's I think. She said there is no elevator but it is pretty much all on one level.....

Nephew is in Las Vegas. The mission was described a long and skinny like a piece of bacon... lol His first assignment was across a river and just south-east of Nevada, can't remember the name of the state. But he spent quite a few months in the city of Las Vegas and is currently just south of the city but I don't remember the name of the area.
He was able to skype home on Christmas and Mother's day. He has always been mature but he lookd even more grown up the last time I saw him.

I would think all would have elevator access. I was in the Reno temple and my aunt is in a wheel chair she managed. It is a small one. It was fun. I forgot where did your nephew go?

Forgot to mention that the Edmonton temple is a "mini" temple - at least that is what my sister called it..... and has very few stairs. From what we heard, the Calgary one has lots of stairs but they do have an elevator. They had arranged for a wheelchair for me for the open house (that we never got to) .....

Actually, there is a temple right here in Edmonton but I was not living here when it was built so have never been in it yet.....
My sister said she has an extra white hanky that I can use. I saw a really nice one a couple of weeks ago in the email from Generations Book store that has an embroidery of a temple (I think it is the salt lake one) It is on the south side of the city and way too far for me to get to by bus, but I will definately have to get one for myself when I get a chance. In the meantime, she has me covered....

The dedicatory sessions are being broadcast via satalite to Stake Centres around the area, so I will be going to my Sister's on Saturday night so we can try to get to the 10 a.m. broadcast up at her Stake Centre on Sunday morning

I am hoping I can go through the the temple for the first time eiither late November or early December. My nephew is due home from his mission on Nov 21 and I am hoping to go after he gets home.....

I'm so happy for you. Temple dedications are special experiences. You will surely enjoy it. Remember to take your white handkerchief so you can participate. My children have theirs form the temple dedication they attended.

I'm looking forward to hearing of your experience when you get to attend a session. Sometimes you can see a few things if you ask. I know when I was a new bride, one of the matrons took me on a tour of one of the temples we attended.

I moved away from the area before the Vancouver (Langley) BC temple was complete so did not get to that open house and dedication. I have heard that it is simply beautiful.....

Fast forward several years and the Calgary, Alberta temple is now ready. From late September to October 20th, there was open house.

We had appointments for the 20th, but there was some bad weather and we live over 3 hours away, so my sister refused to be on the highway...... (boo hoo)

The dedication is this coming Sunday and I have a temp recommend and a "ticket" so I get to go..... YAY!

I am currently taking the temple prep class.
