Talk with your RS president. Some wards I have been in people bring in their extra seeds to share or maybe ask a trusted friend. We live in a ward with farmers. people often share the extras.

I agree about looking forward to summer. We have a very large garden every year and I really enjoyed all the fresh produce from last year - I planted six different types of lettuce as well as cucumbers, tomatoes, squashes, corn, fresh herbs and much more. We have the garden all prepped and ready to go, but I'm not certain we can afford to even buy the seeds or plants this year - after all that we already invested in compost and manure.

It is simpler meals for me. The more elaborate, the more I tend to eat too much. I try to have some vegetarian days each week as I feel better when I eat less meat and heavy foods.

I do best when I don't have much in the way of snacks at home either, although I've found that a small bag (the lunchbox size) of chips is a great thing to have around. I will buy it and save it for a day when I really want to eat chips. Having the one serving portion makes it nice for me as I don't have a whole big bag to devour and I would do that. Having the one portion actually goes a long way as I have given myself permission to eat it but then will be free to choose the time. The chips will sit in the cupboard for weeks until I find a day when I can enjoy them. I don't feel deprived as I have the choice before me but have chosen not to indulge.

Can't say the same thing for chocolate, though.

I'm looking forward to the produce of summer and will probably join a co-op and get something every week for my enjoyment. Bountiful Baskets offers some nice choices as does a local organic farmer. I then get produce each week that I just have to pick up and enjoy. I've not done this before but it would be a nice way to help me get the things I'd enjoy.

Looking forward to hearing more ideas.

They are not going well at all, and it is due to imbalance in my life. DH lost his job last year and still only has minimal income from a newspaper route. We have a large family, and it requires me working overtime to just maintain with living as much as possible off of our food storage. Finally about 6 weeks ago we had to start accepting small food orders from the church - not exactly the most healthy, but I just couldn't do it anymore. We barely make ends meet and that requires me working 50 hours per week - trouble is, I live in Southern Utah and work in Las Vegas. Therefore, I am gone 4 days per week away from my husband and children (we still have 6 at home). Because I work graveyards, my sleep cycle is very messed up right now because there are days when I am up for greater than 24 hours with no rest or sometimes only 2 to 3 hours. I was marching a lot great through last summer with a loss of 75 pounds over the last couple of years, but that all come to a halt. I have not lost weight since having to return to work full time last year. I still try, and at least I have not gained anything back - but "me" time (i.e., exercise, etc.,) is pretty much non existent.

Lisa, how are your goals coming this year? Maybe your small and simple thing is something different from mine.

I notice that I tend to snack leading up to dinner - mindless eating. Then I feel full, but still eat dinner. When I am away from home for work, I don't have access to the snack stuff and I just eat regularly. I do not keep unhealthy things here though. I have an occasional treat I keep for the kids if I am not home to make something (since I work in another state), but it is something I would not eat, so it is not a temptation 99% of the time - unless I am just really craving anything sugary.

I have been spinning my wheels this year. Trying to figure out how to make things happen but just not quite making them happen. So I decided to try scaling back to something smaller.

My little goal right now is to eat 3 meals a day, at the table. I tend to snack on unhealthy things and the think that I have eaten too many calories to eat a full meal. So I am going back to the eating of a meal at mealtimes.

What is your "little thing"?
