Donna: Yes, it really is daunting to think this is going to persist for months. And it makes me MAD that there are those who don't take the necessary precautions, putting themselves and everyone else @ risk. MEANWHILE, there are those literally putting their lives on the line to take care of those ill w/the virus. Literally dying doing so. **SIGH**

I am sure that hurts terribly Barb. Letís hope she is ok. She is young so most likely she will be ok.

I agree I donít think we are being told everything. Every time I hear the news now they are talking longer and longer this will go on. How can we do this for months....

Donna: Here in Milwaukee area, they are preparing to make a convention ctr. a temporary hospital. **SIGH** I do not think we are being told all, but I think the way they're building temporary hospitals (and morgues) speaks volumes. **SIGH** Just have to be safe!!!

Clara has a friend (in another state) who is a nurse -- she is hospitalized w/covid-19. I knew her and her parents as they lived 3 doors down from our home in IL, so it smarts a lot. Praying for Chaley.

Chsr I am horrified your Mom is allowing anyone in her home right now. No one should be in personal contact right now except those that live together. I sincerely hope you put a stop to it other than the fact she is a thief. Unbelievable. Add the pastor asking for money to the list too!

Barb playing Monopoly sounds like a good way to pass the time. I think the on,y game we have now is Scrabble other than cards. That might be an idea....

They are turning our convention Center into a hospital. Itís hard to believe this is all happening. It sounds like the powers that be are expecting something much worse to be coming along.
All we can do is stay apart and be safe.

Friday: Well, glad itís Friday. Just continuing on the decluttering. And DH and I have played a few games of Monopoly. Kind of fun!

Didnít hear from Clara yesterday, but I know sheís off today. So hoping to talk to her.

Getting an early morning in w/Miss Lilly. Nobody out, so itís good.

HUGS, stay well, stay safe and have a wonderful Friday!

Donna: No kidding! I had banana curls as a kid. May revert back by the time this is over!

Char: WHAT?????? In the midst of this the preacher asked about her donation!!!! Lord.

Oh my gosh. Your Mom clearly is not doing good thinking. BUT you knew that already. **SIGH*

Have to agree . . . . it is going to be a long while before things reach anything resembling normal. And itís not going to be the normal that was before the virus. **SIGH**

Talked w/DD briefly this morning. Sheís doing all right. She got a text from a nurse friend of hers in MI, though. Hospitalized w/the virus. **SIGH** I am praying for her. She is from the neighborhood we lived in growing up in IL Knew her from the time she was a baby. **SIGH** Just totally sad. I hadnít know she took a nursing job in MI.

Ihave heard about round #2 in the Fal, too. HOPEFULLY that doesnít come to pass, but if it does, we have to be a LOT more prepared.

Gripes my soul to know that this was know about back in December and the $$$$ that was fnding a study on the virus was pulled. Seriously.

Keep up the routine. It helps.

Good morning!

Made the trip to my motherís yesterday.i started Sunday asking her to think about anything she needed or wanted so I could get it when I went to the store Wed. I asked her every single day. Every single day she needed or wanted nothing. So the first thing when I get there - she needs to get a few things. Lord have mercy. I took a few things for her with me. As well as soup for lunch and enough for her for several more meals.

First I got her second new phone activated and got her desk top up and going again. I have to straighten her electronics out every single time I go. Then we went to trash dump, to the bank, by the church because the preacher had called her about her offering - are you kidding me. Then to the store to get the few things she finally thought of she wanted.
When I left my motherís house a so a neighbor in the yard. I pulled Dover and talked to her a few minutes only to find out that her daughter is helping my mother clean. MOTHER WHAT ARE YOU THINKING. This girl has been in and out of jail on drugs for ever. She has moved back in with her mother, and brought her own and grandchildren with her. Her son has been in and out of jail also. So when I get home I asked my mother what she is doing letting her c,ean, she will take whatever she sees. I have, I watch her. Yeah right. My mother knows their history and has told everybody they arenít worth killing. Whatever. I guess it was good they knew I had been there and I made a point of saying I would be around more and WOULD be handling more for my mother.

The news gets grimmer here. They are preparing ahead. The hospital systems are beginning to turn the university dorms into hospital rooms. And they are setting up mobile morgues. Not what you want to see. Saying they just want to be prepared for what is coming.

I was exhausted when I got home. Took too long of a nap. Will not. E going anywhere except maybe one trip to the post office and to the trash dump till Wed when I do another grocery run.

I had to laugh at the mention of hair. Yes, we will all be wearing new styles by time this is over. I can deal with it, my daughter not so much. Her hair goes wild at a certain length and it doesnít take long to get to that point.

I just pray none of us get this virus. I do believe it will be a long while before things settle down. Then they say we will get a second round of it in the fall. Nothing we can do but hope it slows down soon.

Barb, still saying a prayer for Clara, I feel so bad for her. And of course for John to find some kind of employment.

Donna, it is frustrating not to be able to get out freely. One of the needlework teacher in UK says they are limited to one walk a day.

Today more of the same. Cleaning, organizing, stitching, reading and a nap.

Hugs and love to yal!

Donna: That virus could have come on board when they were docked to restock supplies. Someone can be a carrier and not have symptoms, and the virus can live on plastic and boxes (not sure of how long, though, but being advised to ditch the packaging.) All it takes is one. **SIGH**

Right, donít think theyíre expecting to be there till 04 April. They ses not even sure if theyíd be allowed to dock for awhile. What a mess.

What??????? Really, til July. I am not going to be shocked thru May, but July . . . I sure hope not. But . . . if people donít start heeding the stay @ home, itís going to continue spreading.

OMG! I cannot even fathom what my hair is going to look like by then. **SIGH** Thatís the stuff of nightmares.

Stay safe, stay well!

Barb I am in contact with her too. The strange thing is no one has been allowed on their ship for weeks other than the delivery of food. Some people got off before this all happened. It makes you wonder doesnít it?
Kaliswalker wasnít expecting to be in Ft. Lauderdale until Saturday so I donít think they are there yet.

I just heard on the breaking news from our Prime Minister this morning that the isolation could go on until July! Oh my......that is pretty unnerving to think about but I can believe it is true.
My discussion with the doctor yesterday pointed in that direction.

On a lighter note can you imagine what our hair is going to look like by the time we get an appointment for a haircut again. I am getting close to needing one now.

Jim and I were talking this morning that we need to take the car out for a run. It has been sitting for way too long and I certainly donít want to have problems there.

Thursday: Clara got a good rest, so feeling much better. PHEW.

I am hopeful that our virus seems to be flattening out in the spread. WE shall see. Praying so.

Hope you have a good Thursday.

Happy Friday EVE.

Char: Just read KALISWALKER's blog -- she's on board one of the ships that was told yesterday has cases of Covid now. Fortunately they will be allowed to dock in Ft. Lauderdale. UGH. I fear for her But right now, she's ok.

Another sparker is on another ship that is going to be docking in Ft. Lauderdale. So far no covid. OMG, what a worry.

Donna: Hope you're doing all right.

HUGS, ladies, stay safe, stay well.

A friend of mine is 9n one of those ships. They are now two weeks longer on their ship than planned. It is terrible but they are fine. It was just yesterday they were told they had to stay in their room. She updates us every day.

It sounds like things are going well for you Char. Lucky you to have Melissa help with the cooking. I need a break right now but I canít complain as I have no other outlets for my time

You are a good daughter going to see your Mom. Hopefully she is not having any other company.

Hi ladies.

Barb, glad Clara was able to get in a day of rest. I am sure much needed. I canít imagine what my mental status would be to be locked in on a job like that! Prayers for her.

Donna, yes we will all have clean homes when this is all over.

Yesterday our weather was back down with highs in the mid 50ís. Melissa made a big pot of vegetable soup. It stretches a long way. I did more placement of furniture and sorting through things. Made good progress.

This morning I was at the grocery store at 7:00 for senior shopping. Was able to get everything on my list. There was more meat just no chicken but I still have plenty. Also, no TP, but have plenty of that. Just trying to replace any we have used so we donít deplete our supply. That is one thing I DONT want to run out of! Came home and then took Dakoda to the vet. The vet agreed what I am seeing is the normal aging process but nothing urgent. Will just keep a close eye on her. She will let me know when it is time. I suspect by the first of the year or shortly there after.

Got home from that and then had a in,one video conference with my financial advisors. Everything is good! Whew. They really advised me well and I am so grateful and blessed.

Then it was time to stitch a bit and a short nap.

The news does not get any better. Now 66 in my area with the virus . It goes up about 10 a day and that is only the known cases. Also now 2 deaths in the area. I was very fortunate to get my hands in a box of gloves and 3 N 95 mask. The only place I will need those is the grocery store. All stores are now closed under mandatory orders other than essential businesses. My trips out are to the grocery store, trash dump, and PO.

I am going back to my motherís tomorrow to take a few more things. I think she needs the company more than anything. I will take her some of the soup Melissa made.

I guess you have heard about the two cruise ships off the coast of Florida and Florida is not letting them come in. Can you being stuck in those conditions! What a nightmare.

Just take care of yourselves mentally and physically the best you can! Hugs

I am glad to have the taxes off my Ďworry plateí.

Glad you had you visit w/the Dr. Yes, things are going to be slow and backed up once they start up and running again.

OHhhh, thatís what I love about crock pot meals .. . . you have enough to freeze some for several meals. HUGE help.

Hope you get your walk in. Yes, fresh air and sun (when it decides to doe out!) is so healing.

Hi and I have to do our taxes too but we have to the end of April.
Barb I am happy to hear Clara is feeling better. I am sure Mom and Dad are relieved too.

Today I had my online appointment with the doc. It went well but I now need to go for xrays before my next appointment. He is not anticipating this would even begin before summer. I have to agree with him.

I have made a spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight and it is now simmering away in the crockpot. I like to make enough so I can freeze enough for several meals.

I need to go for my walk soon. It is a little cooler today but the fresh air is still importsnt.
stay safe!!!!

Wednesday: Clara called yesterday evening, and she rested all day. Sheís feeling much better. Thank goodness. Still tired, but not like she was.

Got our taxes done yesterday Ė done remotely. Weíd sent all the required information to our CPA and yesterday went over it all via phone. Worked well. Thank goodness.

Rainy, drizzly day yesterday. Hope to see some sun!

Have a wonderful Wednesday. Stay safe, stay well.

Donna: Sounds like you did well.

Yes, the isolation is going to go on longer, so may as well make use of the time!

Late check in as it was a busy day. I cleaned my China cabinet and washed all the dishes. I put them I. The dishwasher so that helped but it took a good part of the day. I made a loaf of whole, wheat bread and it turned out pretty good. It helps not having to go to the store. Tomorrow I will clean the bottom of the cabinet. Thst is going to be a little harder job as I really have a hard time kneeling.
Also have an online appointment with the orthopedic surgeon so will see how that goes.

It was a lovely day so I did manage my walk too. It feels so good to get outside.

Barb that is a good job to get done too. That will be on my lost one of these days soon.

I think we are going to be isolated for awhile so letís get all our spring cleaning done!

Monday: Rainy, thunderstormy yesterday. UGH. But hoping today is a little more settled.

That was short lived. Clara has been having dizzy spells. Told her she needs to NOT work 16 hr shifts Ė 8 Ė maybe 10 max and REST. To me, it sounds like sheís dehydrated. She has her water bottle there. Told her to keep it with her. So frustrated, cannot bring her anything. Just makes me upset. I understand, but it still makes me upset.

Got everything wiped down. The new ritual!

HUGS and stay well, stay safe.

Char: Yes, saw that the stay @ home is now thru 30 April.

Yes, Clara is in desperate need of rest/sleep. HOPE she can do that today.

John and Ry are feeling good now. Karleigh still sick, but much better. So hopefully John can pound the pavement and find something temporary.

Donna: Yes, it is fortunate to have a job right now. Good luck to your Son and DIL.

Sorry to hear all those will who attended the early ST. Patrickís Day party. **SIGH**

Definitely March is not soon to be forgotten. EVER!

Morning ladies, well we are heading into the last days of March and it definitely will never be forgotten. As I sit here and think about my week ahead there are so many hours to fill. I am trying not to sit too much and I think I am keeping relatively busy but I know I am sitting much more than usual and it is showing on the scale. I will have to think about how I can change this.
I did get in a nice long walk yesterday but it will not happen today unless the forecast improves.
I called one of my friends yesterday and found out she has the virus and is recovering at home. She got it when her complex got together for an early St Patrickís day get together. There are now 8 people from that group with the virus.
She also told me another friend of ours has been very sick with this too but not from the same source.

We talked to our kids in Winnipeg yesterday and they are doing fine. Our son who works for the post office is still working half days and his wife is working from home. They are very grateful to have their job. They are the fortunate ones.

Good morning -a new week with no idea what this week will bring????

The virus is not slowing down here. The stay home mandates were initially set to end the middle of April are now extended to the end of April.

Did some sorting through stuff yesterday, and do the end of the month/first of the month finances. The. A whole lot of stitching. Last night our friend Austin did a FB gospel music show that was wonderful. So many of the entertainers are doing this. Not like a live concert but still fun and distracting from the virus.

Today And tomorrow more of the same and I am not complaining. Wednesday will be my day out? First to the early morning senior grocery shopping, then to the vet. My financial advisors planned to come last Wednesday for yearly review but cancelled for several reasons, they are suppose to come Wed essay afternoon but I doubt that happens. I am thinking we could go over things on the phone. We shall see.

Hope Clara did get a reprieve yesterday. I think that WOUKD be hard when you are confined inside the facility. I canít even imagine. I do hope they plan to compensate well for this. Any chance of a John finding anything temporarily? I know that here Home Depot, Loweís, and some grocery stores are hiring temporary help.

Donna, glad you are able to get out for some walks. How is Jim dealing with all this?

Have the best day and week you can. It is going to be a while before things settle down.

Donna: Ry is not a happy camper having to be indoors. They DO take him outside the bldg.. for fresh air EARLY in the morning . . . nobody else out. But otherwise, he has his school work, they play board games, watch movies, read and of course, he has his kitties . . . Mittens, Biscuit and Simba.

Yes, I am glad that Clara gets a rest day today! She needed it!

No, sadly, this is not going to be over quickly (unlike what Ďsome leadershipí seem to think). But glad the curve is flattening.

Barb, glad to hear a John and family are feeling better. Unfortunately doesnít get him back to work. Nope I would not want to be on a clean up crew or any kind of crew at the hospital.

I feel so bad for the. Any that have lost jk s. There is just no time line in this virus. Too many businesses will not. E able to recover after this.

I guess we all know what we have planned for the week ahead! I DO HAVE TO TAKE Dakoda to the vet for her yearly check up Wed. They are asking for everyone to call the office when they arriv. They will call when they are ready. Also asking on,y one go in the office with the pet. Sounds right to me.

Hugs ladies.

Complete isolation is the only thing that will stop this virus. Itís amazing how people still donít get this.
Char you made the right decision not to go this morning. Enjoy your movies and stitching.

Barb, I would not want to be anywhere in New York right now. The numbers are staggering. I too am grateful where I am. We have had almost 900 cases in our province but it looks likes the ďcurve is flatteningĒ. This is not a time to think we are safe yet.
I am glad to hear John and family are feeling better. How is Rylund handling the isolation?
Poor Clara working those long hours. Good thing she is getting a rest today.

Last night our Happy Hour was fun. I think all four couples were happy to see someone else. We chatted for about an hour and had a few chuckles.

It is lovely here today so I will go for a walk shortly. I need the exercise and the fresh air.

Little jobs are getting done and I still have lots more I could tackle. This is not going to be over anytime soon.

Take good care ladies....

Char: I think you made the right choice. It is just not worth the risk.

Grateful to be well, too. That's a huge blessing.

Clara is exhausted fro 16 hr. shifts, but is resting today. Thank goodness.

John and family are finally feeling better. They all had colds.

My cousin in KC, MO lost his job on Friday. Was going to consider working on a construction clean-up job @ a local hospital. Ummmmm . . . just about the LAST place I would voluntarily go. He sort of felt that way, too, but asked my opinion, so I told him. NOT something I'd do.

His son lives in NY. He and his wife had a 2 week old baby. They live right across the street from a hospital where they're setting up triage tents. OMG. He still has a job -- he's a civil engineer. But being in NY would NOT be where I'd want to be. Believe he's outside of the Bronx. **SIGH**

So, just counting my blessings to be where I am.

HUGS ladies. Be safe, be well.

Today another 85 deg day. Normal is around 65. We will be there tomorrow.

Watched the parking lot church service live. Not sure about the safety of it when the cases increasing daily. Cars park closer than 6 feet. So chose to keep myself at home and watch.

Going to watch a couple of movies this afternoon and stitch if I donít fall asleep Didnít sleep much last night, just couldnít get comfortable.

I am grateful to be well, at peace, concerned but not panicked or worried.

Take care of yourselves and your families.

Have to agree . . . . no boredome yet here, either. Busy.

Barb, rough for John to be laid off and sick! Poor guy. I am sure he will be wanting the soup soon. But also I bet he is not wanting to expose you to anything. Wish I could send you some of our sunshine and warmer weather.

Donna, FB Happy Hour sounds interesting. Let us know how it turns out. Yes, staying busy. I will say I have not a one moment of being bored. I turn the music up, or read, or stitch after doing all the cleaning and straightening up I can stand. Chocolate cake sounds yummy. I am sure Jim will appreciate and enjoy it

I have purposely not watched any news today but I will watch the 11:00 news.

Donna: LOVE the idea os FaceTime Happy Hour! That's awesome.

Yes, it is really hard dealing w/the deaths that Clara has had to deal with (This is #2 -- neither due to the virus). Just glad that she is talking about it. That's important for her to process it.

Well, here's to a quiet evening.

Laddies I think we are in this for the long haul and living like this for many weeks to come. It is getting old really quickly. To stave off boredom I have arranged a FaceTime happy hour with three of our friends for later today. We can catch up and at least have a few chuckles.

We are doing fine . I have some chicken stock bubbling away and made Jim a chocolate cake. Yes I know he is not suppose to have it. I donít think I have made one for a few years so I think it should make him happy.
Just doing general housework and trying to keep moving. Not easy in a condo.

Itís raining so no walks today.

Barb I am glad all your kids are fine. We donít like to see them not feeling well and I am sure they will enjoy the soup once John gives the word. I feel bad for Clara as I know it would be hard to lose a patient. Thank goodness it is not the virus.

Char it sounds like you are keeping busy. We all need to do that.

Saturday: Well, John and his family have been ill, but he says, not theyíre feeling much better. He says they have enough food and medicine, STAY AWAY. Have chicken soup on reserve, but will wait to drop it off until he determines they need it. The Mom part of me wants to drop stuff off, but he is at a point w/being laid off that he has to be in charge of SOMETHING, so Iíll be guided by him.

Clara is doing all right. Another resident did pass, but it was due to a # of health issues, not corona. She was in her id-90ís. **SIGH** I just feel so badly for her. It is really difficult to lose a patient. Iím glad, though, that sheís talking to me about it.

Otherwise, decluttering my office. Not too bad. Just have to go thru some papers and shred.

Rainy, ugly day, so just as well to stay inside!

Blessings on your Saturday, stay well, stay safe.

Char: Wow! 86! I think weíre about 42. Gray, rainy. UCK!

I just read that China now has closed theaters due to a potential 2nd wave of the virus?? OMG. Just read that in one site though, so will investigate further.

Meantime, we need to keep our guard up and HOPE that the leaders act responsibly.

Yup, sure do miss the Saturday breakfasts. *SIGH* I just hope they re-open.

HUGS

Happy Saturday.

A beautiful day, 86 degrees. Everything is starting to boom. Just about 3 weeks early too.

I got a good nights sleep last night. This morning did the general straightening up, sweeping. Got everything in the right closets. Put up curtain rods in spare bedroom - curtains should be here the middle of the week. Had to do some rescheduling with classes that have been canceled for this year. Finally got someone in the phone to try to activate my motherís new phone. She has it so messed up they are going to send her another one - I told her not to even open the box. To call me and I will go down and get it going for her.

Think I will watch a movie and stitch or take a nap - whichever comes first. The go at it again.

The news of the virus doesnít get any better. There is a website where you can look up cases by zip code. 3 in mine as of yesterday.

Barb, I know you miss your Saturday morning breakfast!

Donna, hope you are holding up ok.
Hugs and love

Donna; Donít feel bad for saying that. I AM ANGRY at how slow the response has been. And then Ė with New York City being the epicenter Ė the leadership deems that it is not necessary for them to have more respirators. Are you kidding me! So now, itís going to mean Drs. are going to have to Ďtriageí who gets a respirator Ė or not. OMG. Thatís horrible beyond words. NO excuse for that.

And 2 state leaders Ė in essence Ė said Sr. citizens are expendible. Are you kidding me again! I am glad I donít live in their states.

One can only hope (and itís an evil thought, I dare say, unfortunately) that karma bites them in the butt.

Barb I hate to say this but our government was so much more proactive when they saw this coming. We have basically been closed for about three weeks now and each day more restrictions are put in place. It is now against the law to sell much needed products at exorbitant prices.
I heard on the news yesterday about the sharing of respirators in New York. I canít even imagine the stress the medical profession is under there.

We always have disposable gloves in the house but there is none to be had anywhere.

So glad Clara is safe where she is. I am sure her bank job will be there when this is over. Life has to go on....

Friday: Well, itís Friday. Just staying home and staying safe. PLENTY to do here at home. Got the kitchen well cleaned. Now moving on.

Clara is doing all right. Her day job is @ a local bank. That branch has now closed. Definitely not good (she hasnít been there, obviously, since the lock down in the nursing home on the 21st.) So, remains to be seen what is going to happen. I am sure once this passes, it will re-open. Just a matter of time. 2 more cases in our county, so up to 22.

Hope itís a peaceful Friday for everyone.

Hugs and blessings. Stay safe, stay well.

Char: Nowhere near the predicted 40-something temps today here, either. Gray and overcast, but gratefully, no rain.

Yes, our cases in WI grew from 585 to 707 today. 2 more cases in our county for a total of 22.

Clara seems to be doing all right, despite all this going on.

YES, people definitely need to chill a little. YES itís a crisis situation, but panicking isnít going to change that. Guess sparking has taught us some valuable lessons about controlling ourselves, because situations canít be changed.

Stay safe, stay well.

Donna: Glad that you got to the store early. I know some people donít like it, but if you need something, definitely worthwhile taking advantage of the Sr. hours.

I have to go thru drive through to p/u some rxís today. I am glad to do that, so I know I wonít run out.

Really! Limiting to only 2 canned goods. We donít have that. Bread, paper products, cleaning products and now pain relievers limited to 2 maximum per person. **SIGH**

I donít understand liquor stores being considered as necessary businesses to stay open, but . . . who am I to say. I guess home-schooling parents would agree itís a necessity!

Our #ís have surpassed Spain and Italy. SHAME!!!!! Our leadership needs to step up to the plate and do better than that. Makes me angry. 2 governors (one in TX and the other in PA) have basically said, in essence, Sr citizens are expendible. WTH! I am glad I donít live in either state. Thatís reprehensible.

With New York being the epicenter of activity, an overwhelmed health system and lack of needed respirators. The Gov. of NY asked for more help (specifically respirators). The Ďleadershipí indicated that Ďthatís not needed for NY. I just . . . have . . . no . . . words . . . for . . . that . . . stupidity. I have heard stories of sharing ventilators between 2 patients Ė OMG! . . . that is a total recipe for disaster. And Drs. are being forced to decide who will have a ventilator . . . or not. That . . . is . . . reprehensible!

Ok, Iíd better get off my soapbox before my head explodes!

HUGS, stay safe, stay well.

Morning ladies, I just got back from the grocery store. I was there for 7 when it opened. I also got hubbyís prescriptions yesterday. I was at Costco just before 5 and the lineup was not too bad. So now hopefully I will not have to go into a store for awhile. They were limiting can goods to only two per person. Has to be tough for big families. Also, couldnít find any disposable gloves but I did manage to get more hand soap. Crazy....

Char there is nothing open here except grocery stores and pharmacies along with liquor stores so people donít have much choice about going anywhere. There are no restaurants open except take out and drive through.

The numbers are going up so quickly in the States. It is quite frightening for sure.

It is a rainy day so I donít think I will be walking today.

Stay safe my friends.....

Another day.

We didnít get above mid 50ís yesterday and suppose to be mid 80ís today. Crazy how we are having wide weather swings every few days.

Today working out of the room that is warehousing everything till it is sorted out. Overwhelming!

I know the number of cases continues to increase in my county and surrounding, have not heard numbers today.

I just pray that through this people will learn to slow down and smell the roses, enjoy time with family instead of always being on the go.

Hope your day is peaceful.

Barb, prayers for Clara and John!

I tried the senior time at Costco today and the lineup was unbelievable. There were lots in line who were not seniors. We took a drive out of town to a Costco about 20 miles away. We arrived around noon but the line up was just too long also. I am going to try later in the day and see how that works out.
I have to take Jim to the retina specialist tomorrow and I was concerned about being in their office as it is always so busy with too many people. I called this morning and they are only seeing people who are getting injections and have requested that only the patients come into the office.
They will have the required spaced seating so I know he will be fine.
I have an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon on April 1st and was informed by email today that it will be a virtual visit. That is fine with me as I really donít want to be in a busy medical office.
Well ladies this is sure different time for us isnít it? We have all been through many crazy times but nothing like this.

Barb, glad to hear that Clara is feeling better. I know that is a relief for you. The resident that passed away was not from the virus was it? I certainly hope they are paying her a higher rate or with a nice bonus. I would hate to be locked in at the facility.

Donna, hope you re doin ok being somewhat quaranteened. How is Jim handling this?

I have been doing things in the house today. Nice to have time to do it without interruptions and having to go out. I donít plan to leave again till Wed. I will go out for the early morning senior grocery shopping then take Dakoda to the vet for her yearly check up.

Hugs and lkve

Thursday: And the beat goes on. Clara told us last night a resident passed away. Oh other info, though. She hadnít taken care of that patient, so thatís good. Sheís feeling better. Even better news.

She called again this morning and sheís doing well, but really tired. Working 12-14 hr. shifts. But sheís able to rest. Feels much better. Wanted to take her some soup, but not allowed to even leave it outside the entrance for her to pick up. I tried. **SIGH** But she assures me sheís all right.

HUGS and blessings.

Stores are not mandated closed at this time. Malls are closed voluntarily. Stores like Home Depot, Loweís, Ace Hardware are open. Ollieís is a discount store. I would not have gone had they been busy. No more than 5 were in the store. Traffic is very light. Also, I felt the risk there were minimal and Melissa lives to look around in there. She needed a pick me up. Restaurants are take out only with curb service. My needlework shop is open limited hours. I do not need to go there.

Melissa knows these outings will be coming to an end. I was really worried about her the last couple days as she was nothing like herself.

Char I am very surprised about the stores that are open in your area. Nothing is open here except grocery stores and essential services. There is no shopping at all. I wouldnít even think you could shop online like Amazon. I wonder?

I am trying to keep busy but it is hard. Today I am doing laundry and maybe a little baking. I am thinking some bread....

My day started early. I was at Publix at 7 for senior shopping. I told the manager I was very disappointed as I was sure he would card me to see if I was OLD ENOUGH! I was able to get everything in my list which was not much, they had very little meat. I bought a small turkey breast.

After that I picked up Melissa to take her to buy a new lawnmower. Decided to go by Harris Teeter and so glad I did as they had MEAT! Got a pack of pork chops and some ground beef. Then took Melissa to Ollieís, she loves to look around in there. No one was in there which was good. Found her some nice towels for her bathroom. She has not been acting herself and I felt she needed to get out just a little.

I wonít be surprised if we are in mandated stay at home by the first of the week. The cases are rapidly increasing. Charlotte will be on mandatory stay at home as of tomorrow through 4/16.

Barb, I am glad they are being so careful with testing with Clara. Yes she needs to be recognized in a big way for her sacrifice. It will be a great learning experience for her. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing. How is John dealing with his lay-off. So hard for everyone.

Donna, I rarely have my days planned. I just do what I feel up to. It does not bother me at all to be home.

Hugs and love! Stay well!

Morning ladies,
Barb we had our cases start in care homes so maybe they are being proactive. I think we all agree that more testing needs to be done. How is Clara handling the isolation. It is one thing to work in a care facility and another not to be allowed to leave especially for a young person. She is one of our front line workers. We are very proud of these people.

Itís hard to start the day and not know what we are going to do. I will go for my walk for sure but that does not fill in a whole day. Just trying to stay positive.......this too shall end.....

Wednesday: Well, fortunately Clara just has a cold, but now as of last night, they are testing everyone for Corona. She says there are no cases, so a little confused about why theyíre doing that, but weíll find out.

Just puttering around here today.

Hugs and have a wonderful Wednesday and be well.

Stay well, one and all.

Chsr that is the news I watch too except not the late one. I am in bed by then. For me, this is still too much.
I just got back from a walk and it was good to get fresh air. It was raining a bit but that is ok. I needed to get out. There is sure not a lot of people moving about which is the way it is suppose to be. Letís hope this runs its course very quickly.

Char: Thatís one thing they canít do Ė laundry. Canít bring in new or send out dirty. They have washers/dryers, so thatíll have to do. **SIGH**

I can drop off food. Clara will ask for what she needs and weíll try to get it.

Yup . . .. all in the same boat for sure. I know the world will be a different place once this crisis is over. HOPEFULLY for the better.

Barb, I am so happy to here Clara has a cold and not a virus. I understand why the facilities would lock in employees but oh I canít imagine that. Is anyone allowed to take clean clothes etc to leave at the facility?

Donna, I watch the morning news, noon and 6:00 and 11. That is more than enough. Hearing it all day would be too much. i know, starting tomorrow, Mecklenburg county which is Charlotte is on mandated stay at home. They had over 100 new cases since yesterday. They have not released the new numbers for SC that I have heard. It will be on the 6:00 news. I feel we will soon be on lockdown. I love being home but it is different when it is chosen and mandated. But not much open therefore nowhere to go anyway.

I have gotten a lot done in the house today. About ready to call it quits till morning. I will be up early and hitting the grocery store tomorrow.

We are all in the same boat. Have to believe all will settle down and we will be fine. I am truly hoping this will bring about some positive changes in our world.

Hugs and live.

Donna: Well, the facility that Clara works at are trying to limit exposure by keeping staff stable. I think itís a good strategy, though taxing on those sheltered in. But provisions are being made for them to be able to rest.

All the changes and the news are indeed overwhelming. FOR SURE! The economy is definitely hurting. BUT I think itíll come back. Itís going to take a while and for sure, weíre no where near ready for that yet.

I am limiting myself to once/day. It really has decreased the stress.

There are so many ways to keep in touch with others. NOT like face-to-face, but just important for right now to know theyíre all right.

Stay safe, stay well, stay put!

Barb, thank goodness Clara is ok. It probably ly is a good idea that she has to stay where she is. These kind of facilities are very much at risk. We had a situation here where someone working in one care home to the virus to another. They are now not allowing these care givers to work at more than one facility

Char, I am so happy your Mom was appreciative of what you did for her. It sounds like things are going well at your house. I am glad you are pleased with the results. It might not be surprising that your furniture could be delayed. I am sure it is not a big concern for you.

8 have to admit I am a little overwhelmed with all the news and changes right now. It frightens me what will happen to our economy when all this is over. I have to step back today and not watch so much news. I know it is important but I think watching it once a day will be enough.
We are keeping in touch with friends and family and everyone is fine. So much to be thankful for.
Stay safe ladies....

Tuesday: Clara called yesterday afternoon. Sheís sick. She was examined and she ended up having a cold, so thatís a huge relief.

The WI governor issued a Ďsafer @ homeí order (same as shelter in place that other states are invoking). That really wonít change what Jas and I have been doing. But I imagine there are plenty who are going to be out there panic shopping.

So thatís yesterday. Heaven knows what today holds!

Stay well, stay safe. Hugs and blessings. Prayers

Char: Yes, it was an anxious day yesterday waiting for Clara to call. She finally did call back and told us it was a cold. Sheís locked in the facility anyhow. Sheíll have 2 days off and then work her hours. NO covid there, but theyíre keeping the staff thatís already there in lockdown to try to prevent any chance of covid entering. There havenít been visitors allowed in about 2 weeks now.

Only essential businesses are open. We have all we need, so no real need to go out.

You have really made progress in the projects! Good luck to you.

Glad you were able to get most things for your Mom. Thatís nice to hear that she was appreciative and you had a pretty good visit.

We are doing well here, and hope you are, too.

Donna: Hope all is well.

HUGS ladies. Stay safe, stay well, stay put!

Good morning but Barb, certainly a disturbing morning for you. Prayers that Claraís test comes back negative and for John. Here places like Walmart, Amazon, Loweís are hiring temp help.

Barb, you are just basically self quarantined Other than a walk. What you need to do to protect Jim and yourself. I am pretty much self quarantined other than grocery store, plan on going in the morning During senior hours, to replace a little of the surplus. Melissa will stay home. She will then see what I get vs what isnít on the shelves. I just do not want to deplete the surplus.

Friday and Sat was just here watching the painting etc go on. Ahhhhhh

Saturday morning I went to stores and was able to get most of what my mother wanted/needed plus some. Sunday I took it all to her. Melissa stayed home but made a meatloaf for me take. We had that for lunch and I was able to make two fulll plates of leftovers for the fridge and then froze enough for about 6 more meals. Took her frozen meatballs, fish fillets, hoppin John, dried beans, eggs, yogurt, 6 lean Cuisines, ham for sandwiches, bread, a pizza, frozen vegetables, plenty of toilet paper, and I am not sure what else. But things that would provide a lot of meals. She was happy and was genuinely appreciative which isnít often with her. A pretty good visit overall.

Yesterday was completing the house. Painting front bath, wall mounting tv, Hanging last 2 doors etc. Then they go through and touchup paint anywhere needed. I am sooooo happy how everything has turned out. Today I will sweep/mop really good where furniture goes, move it back and then mop rest of den. Then will slowly put other things in place throughout the house. The spare den looks like a warehouse. It will take a while but not going anywhere so I have time. The furniture is scheduled to arrive the first week of May. Hopefully everything will be in place and just have to get the old out and the new in.

Today I am just enjoying being home without the commotion. Going to straighten out kitchen cabinets and see what I have and get it organized. Melissa just puts stuff anywhere and everywhere. Bless her heart. Then sweep and mop bedrooms and on to the den.

Hugs and prayers that we all stay safe and well and that we stay concerned without too much h stress or depression. We just have to believe everything will be ok when this all calms down.

Donna: Yes, it is a financial blot, wo say the least.

Yes, things change hour to hour, day to day. That said, things are relatively stable in my county, but the virus continues to spread on in the state.

Yes, for sure, the #ís in California and NY are unfathomable. Sad, truly sad.

Stay safe, stay well.

Char: Hope that youíre doing all right amidst this chaos.

HUGS, ladies.

Barb, I am so sorry to hear John has been laid off. The service industry has been hit really hard.

Things are changing here daily and there will probably be new measures enforced. There is talk that we might not be able to move from one province to the other. The numbers out of California and New York are staggering.

Letís hope this is over quickly.....

Today has been a strictly at home day with no walk for me. I am resting my knee. We will see what happens tomorrow and see if we get the rain predicted.
I did some cleaning that doesnít get done very often. Under the sinks in the bathroom and kitchen then organized and cleaned up my spices. It was time for both.

Also had a nice chat with my sisters on Skype. My sister just got back from Myrtle Beach. She said they had no idea the virus was this bad until they got nearer to home. I feel much better that they are back in Canada. Things just get too complicated if you were to get sick now and be away from home.

Barb thank goodness Clara has the protection she needs. What a relief for Mom and Dad.
Nice to have your usual breakfast at home minus the friends I am sure you are missing. I told Jim this morning it is a good thing we like each other as we will be spending lots of time together in the next while.
My sisters and I joked today that there will be lots of ďquarateenĒĒ babies in 2021!

It is GOOD to get outdoors a little for sunshine and fresh air. I did this morning.

Take good care.

How did I not connect with you yesterday. I donít think I got your posts. Sometimes this happens. I am here now and feeling about the same as both of you. Loved the Dixie story. We need to have some humour in our lives

So sorry about Melissa being worried. Of course she would be. If we are honest we are too but we are trying our best to be sensible. .

We have had 424 cases and 10 deaths to date.

Barb, I think it is unbelievable that Clara has no protection while doing her job. I can imagine how concerned you are for her.

People are hoarding here now too but I think you are right Char and it will change this week. I sure hope so.

We are just hanging in there and staying close to home. I do go for walks but I am by myself and stay clear of people. I sure hope they donít take that away from us like they have done in some places.
