I'm not counting anything right now, just trying to live a busy non-sitting life. The numbers get me down, more than they motivate me right now. Maybe some visible accomplishments in my home and life will bring me more fulfillment. Still choose this team - and goal - as my first team to give bonus points to Just a mental game there, but I'm all about mental games!!

today, I chopped ice on our walksways and steps, wipd down a wall, and used my carpet cleaner (heavy machine!), as well as bunches of trips from the downstairs to upstairs, eptied ashes, fed the outside animals. Hs to "count" for something!!

emoticon Hopefully with the break in the humidity I will be enjoying the great outdoors again. I stopped walking completely at lunchtime because of the heat.

I was just reading (I wear a fitbit) that it's the active minutes that really count and not the step count. It's recommended to get 30 active min in daily. I will try to work up to that but I am not an active person. I hope with some pounds lost comes more motivation.

Have a great September!

Goodness! There is some psychological spiral that happens within me everytime I make this strong re-commitment: This has happened to me so many times, but every time I "get serious", I will instantly gain weight. Like, I weighed in this morning at 2 pounds over yesterday's weight!!!! grrrrr....!!!! (I do know it's summertime and between the sweat, and the salt, and the amts of water I drink - or don't drink, a lot of this is fluid variation, but still....!!!)

Love my new scale, and had an annual physical yesterday, and know that it matches up with their scale. // But also as a result of that physical, and their Summary page they sent home with me, my weight had only decreased by half a pound since last year, and according to my BMI I am "overweight" (actually some older charts would say "obese"). Of course I was already fully aware of all that, but I just HATED seeing that in writing by my doctor. That along with some GERD issues that have worsened here lately, has encouraged me to re-work some weight loss goals for myself. They are reasonable, but will still take work and commitment (stick-to-itiveness) on my part.

Current weight (as recorded on dr. scales): 194.5
Goal weight by August 31, 2019: 190
Goal weight by Dec 31, 2019: 185
Goal weight by April 25, 2020 (birthday): 175
Goal weight by Dec. 31, 2020: 160

For love of self, and good health, I am making myself accountable to you on this team to do this!! emoticon but would truly appreciate some encouragement from my Team Members here!! emoticon in advance!!

Can't say the pounds are just dropping away, but I'm feeling so much better than I have in months. Sleeping better, getting more accomplished, better spirits, clothes fitting well (would love for them to be getting baggy, maybe someday!) I'm cutting out eating anything after supper, and trying to have the evening meal earlier, eating less at meals, lots of fruit and veggies thanks to the summer seasonal foods! - and am getting a lot more physical outside work done as the energy increases. The spiral is spinning in the right direction right now!

Feeling thankful, and having some real hope for lasting changes!!

People like Bob are motivating and encouraging by their example!! (and vulnerability in being honest.) I would love to see a picture Bob, I love having a face to put with my SP friendships!

emoticon Weekend Wrap Up

Well, I'm still here. Trying to move forward. No pounds or inches lost this week. Seen a great quote " What you eat in private you wear in public." My downfall is my appetite. This week it was big fresh cinnamon raisin bagels toasted with melted butter with my coffee in the morning and salty chips at night.

I posted a selfie yesterday on a private group on FB. Took a lot of courage but I wanted to establish some before and after pics. Definitely stepped outside my comfort zone on that one! When I start seeing a difference I'm planning to post them here as well.

This week I plan on controlling my sugar and carb intake. Hoping that little craving devil stays off my shoulder.

Have a great week! emoticon

Mid week motivation.
Not making my numbers move this week. Need to start behaving. Really makes a difference when you don't go outside and enjoy the sunshine.

emoticon Sunday - May 12th - Mother's Day

Spent a few hours outside yesterday. The veggie garden is all set up. Lawn mowed, outside chairs, fire pit and birdbath all ready to be enjoyed!

Today it's cold and raining. I'm all weighed and measured and ready for the new week. Not too motivated when it's yuck outside. I'll try and pull a Leslie walk at home video out today.

Good luck this week and stay motivated!!! emoticon

Sooo, weight up a little today vs Tuesday. Not freaking out too much. It did not get packed on over night and the journey will not be linear. The bowling ball I carry in my middle has grown and grown on an ongoing basis, down a little, up more, down a little up, up, up some more...a vicious cycle always ending up more than where I began. Time to break that cycle for good. I often get discouraged and give up. Having PCOS is certainly a contributory factor in this endeavor, but I will overcome.

Well I am back with SP again. More weight to lose this time. While my long term goal seem unattainable, I am setting small goals along the way. I started and stuck to my eating plan only to see shoot up, probably due to fluid fluctuations. Now down to 154.2 and wondering whether this represents a small, but real beginning to my journey. My first goal is to get under 150 by 6/5. I am looking to all of you to keep me motivated and accountable.

My Sunday weight and measurements are charted and I'm ready to begin week 1.

@KMF2019 - Hi and thanks for the welcome! I noticed the team wasn't too active. I'm here for the same reason, accountability. I'm giving up sugar and flour in my diet, trying to drink water and need to get outside and start walking. Just need will power to get it done. Hope you have success this week with your goals!

Hi Bob, Welcome to the Team! I'm not sure how active this team is overall, but I use it for my own accountability. I'm at the age where those pounds are sticking to me like they are glued there, but hoping for some results too this summer, my most active season!! We can gladly cheer each other on!!! emoticon emoticon

Hello!
New to this team. Recent trip to the doctor's office has me looking for motivation. Blood pressure is up because of all the weight I've been packing on,

Just joined the morbidly obese stats, meaning that I need to lose 100 lbs. My next appointment with the good doctor is in 3 months so I am breaking down my goal to losing my first 25 lbs in that time.

Wishing all a great success with your goals, emoticon

Still sitting in my rut, feeling disgusted at myself for not making the changes I KNOW I need to... I did buy a walking stick that I came across the other day, I am looking at it as my accountability / motivational tool to get up and moving!!

And spring is giving hints that it is soon to be here. That will help. But I've got to get over this "hang up " that I have with winter, cold temps, mud and do the right thing irregardless.

And about that temptation - I lost the battle today. Went to a baby shower and the food was scrumptious. It was healthy enough, but just so much of it - and I had some of EVERYTHING!!
At least the weather has taken a change for the better, so I should be much more active next week, which will help me get back to where I was and even better!!

One of my biggest challenges is simply to "resist temptation" - true for eating the wrong foods (that taste sooo good!), emoticon emoticon emoticon and also the temptation to sit at a computer, or sit in a chair reading or lounging on a sofa to watch a movie emoticon emoticon . All I need to do more is to Get up and Move emoticon emoticon emoticon and make some healthy food choices!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Time for me to stop making excuses for myself and to realize that the changes have to start within me before anything will happen outwardly!

Is anybody else identifying with my frustration with myself and my yielding to my temptations??

Just re-read my past two posts below... and realize nothing has changed. I just to the temptation of eating way too much and "pleasing to my tastebuds, but not so nice to the waistline" meals over the weekend. Two graduation parties this weekend, once coming up next weekend, then two weddings in August, then two family reunions. Summers are tough!!! And having a husband who is retired and home much more is making this all extremely difficult. emoticon

May I mention that I hate weighing in on Mondays? Why is it that it is so easy to get off-track over the weekends, and lose some of the ground that was gained during the week? And why is it that we older ladies have the struggle with slowed metabolisms to deal with? This getting old is more challenging than I ever dreamed it would be - I never imagined in my younger years that weight would ever be a problem in my life. And now at 62, it definitely is a major concern in my life!!

Hello team! I hope you have a Sparking weekend! Spread your Spark every chance you get in whatever way you can! Be contagious!

I had planned on having a yard sale today...However, it is raining. I have cookbooks, workout videos, diet books, workout clothes, etc. to sell. Hey, I am attempting to spread my spark, OK? I have no clue why God is crying... LOL

I am thawing out some kielbasa so I may make candied kielbasa in the crockpot. It is absolutely delicious. Just cut the kielbasa in coin-size pieces, place in crockpot with horseradish, ketchup and brown sugar, stir, cook on HIGH for 1 hour then LOW 1/2 hour and voila! Serve! I love to make sandwiches with it. Oh, a little white bread is not going to hurt...

I am now an editor-in-chief. My higher-up is simply testing out my new website to make sure everything will run smoothly. I am excited as it is not as boring as I thought it would be. I guess I like helping people.

I made up 7 gift baskets late last night for today's alleged yard sale...All of that hard work... uuugh...They are so cute...

Well, I will close for now and will pray that the rain stops...

Hello team! How are you? I hope well!
Well, I hope some of this summer weather is melting away a few pounds for you.
My summer is doing just the opposite... You know how study after study shows that drinking green tea or black tea reduces the stomach/waistline? Mine is doing just the opposite!
Two weeks ago (now mind you, my stomach is big enough as it is due to overproduction of cortisol) I started drinking Lipton diet green tea citrus. Talk about big. My stomach is beyond huge and my capri barely button. So, who did they base these studies on?
I guess I have to resort to drinking bottled water again with flavored water enhancer. It is just so boring.
Then, I am looking for a new job. My computer is my set of wheels so it has to be a work-at-home/telecommuter position. Wish me luck!
On top of these issues, I miss fellowship with you. Stop by the team sometime. We can inspire each other!
Spark on!

Hello team! How are you? I hope well! Sorry I have not been on in such a lengthy
while. I have been sucking it up doing some side hustles...to be honest, I feel like a laboratory rat. Why do I feel like such?

I am an editor for a website. The website is based out of a foreign country. I specifically stated I wanted to be paid in US currency. Well, I got paid the other day, in foreign currency! So, I had to have it converted. After conversion, I took over a $20.00 loss then had to pay a fee for the conversion.

I am always searching on ratracebellion.com, theworkathomewoman.com and theworkathomewife.com for the latest on jobs. You get the same answer... Until you find the right good-paying job, do some side hustles. So, that is what I have done. I am now doing two survey companies. So annoying though... I answer the same questions over and over. Sometimes they run out of surveys. Sometimes you are asked preliminary questions only to be told you are not eligible for the survey. I feel like I am being shown a treat then having the treat taken away from me!

I am going to use my fitness pedal exerciser for 30 minutes every day/night. It is so cute!

Dinner will be crockpot potato soup this evening. I use hash browns, Velveeta, chicken bouillon cubes and water in it. Leave it on for 4 hours on HIGH and voila!

Well, this has been the latest about me, myself and I. I hope your weekend is full of fitness, healthy food and fellowship!

Hey team! How have you been? I hope well!

What do you like and dislike about this team? Is there any way you think I may improve it?

Do you sometimes go over the forums but not post?????

Have you been on a new diet or lifestyle? If so, would you share? Maybe you can inspire!

Have you been weighing yourself? Are you staying hydrated? Have you been getting in atleast 10 minutes of activity? (I do...but am guilty of not always logging in the activity... LOL) Have you been getting in some "me" time?

I ask you all of these questions as you are so quiet. Sure, there are a few faithful members, but do you know how many inactive members there are? Many. When I started out with the team, I saw potential. I will give it a while, because I do not like to give up. I am doing my best.

Be good and have a wonderful weekend!

I am on a blessed vacation with family! My mother and I love to
find frugal stuff AND get in our walking. She knows my self-esteem
was kind-of low as I have had no "new" clothes, always wearing
clothes with stains, bleach spots, etc.

So, yesterday we went to a going out-of-business sale where I
was able to find 5 pairs of leggings that were 50% off $9.99!
I could not believe it!

Then, today, we went to GoodWill where purple tags were 50% off and
yellow tags were $1.50. Well, I needed summer shirts badly. Almost
every single shirt I got had a yellow tag! The icing on the cake?
Two Joyce Meyer books for a $1.00 each!

I do not mean to sound like I am bragging. I only get things when
it's frugal. The exercise is not too shabby either. So, to you my
Sparkfriends, have a good fitness and frugal weekend! Spark on!

I have a method that makes me lose the pounds.
I cannot prove it to you as I often don't
log in my weight. However, trust me, I do
have a method...peanut butter and jam on bread,
english muffin or tortilla wrap, sometimes with a
salad. I don't feel hungry, my blood sugar stays
really good and I really like it!

ENTER housemate.

My housemate relies on my cooking of her meals.
The first thing in the morning, she asks, "What
are we having for dinner?" Well, I made her
Cincinnati chili and beef with vegetable stew over the
weekend and guess who gained ALL that weight again?
Exact.

So, I am "just saying no" to the housemate's
food peer pressure! She should be supporting
my efforts to lose weight!

When I stare at a pound of fat, I know I have a
major job ahead of me. I get mega-motivated!
I have a picture on my Sparkpage that I will share
with you to also remind you of what it looks like...
all "1" measly pound of it. I have 45 pounds of
this stuff to lug around! How about you?

What upsets me, is that I always I feel like I
have to "work" for survival all day instead of
"work-out" all day for survival. It's not like
I make millions or anything. I think about this often.

To be specific, I make pennies per article for a couple
of websites. I just feel like saying to heck with such
slavery and work-out all day without a care, like a
millionaire's wife who doesn't have anything to worry about.
Am I making sense?

I shop on clearance, buy at yard sales, shop at
Salvation Army, shop at Dollar Tree, etc. My housemates and I share rent,
most groceries, etc. It isn't like I'm not "frugal"! LOL

God does give us a gift and expects us to use that gift.
Mine would be volunteering as contributing editor of
a religious newspaper.

Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we
only have one! I think about all those pounds of fat
my body is lugging around... So, I have Sparkpeople
and exercise to do.

Thank you. I now know what to do.

I am so excited that I found a frugal fitness item at a
yard sale this week...a fitness pedal exerciser...never used! If you
are not familiar, you can use it as a bicycle from wherever you are
sitting.

I will be doing my exercise mostly at night now. I find it to
be the best for my schedule.
I went through magazine after magazine today for reviews work,
but all of them so far have been duds...I could have spent
all those hours on my Sparkteams!
Thanks for being you and for not giving up on the team!
We can do it! Spark on!

When I work-out, I look at myself in the mirror and focus on what part of my body I want changed. Now, I can look at myself and not get disgusted. This is good.

I KNOW WATER IS GOOD, but the water retention is getting on my nerves!
Then, my thirst is never quenched. I have every water enhancer
imaginable! So, then I drink plain for a while and still
thirsty for more. I like iced coffee but cannot afford to drink
specialty coffee all day long...(as I like flavored coffee).
Iced tea is good, but the very minute I make it, my housemate
runs a dashing sprint to it and drinks the whole thing, leaving the
pitcher empty.

Any tips?

I used to drink tons of Kroger-brand sparkling seltzer water...I hated the taste of bottled water,
faucet water, you name it. But I literally got sick of the sparkling seltzer water. So, I kept my stash of it
then bought bottled water and flavored water enhancer. NOW, I am SICK of bottled water! Well, I whipped
out my stash and am back with the sparkling seltzer water and it tastes sooooo good. Quenches my thirst like you
wouldn't believe. It is energizing where bottled water makes me so tired. Well, just had to tell you my
story of the day! "Water" you doing? LOL

I have still not clipped the coupons as my housemate seems to have forgotten that she said she would clip with me. I wonder how she'd feel if I would FORGET TO FEED HER? Exactly.

I want to weigh myself but the scale is like a little demon. It seems like if I watch calories, I gain. If I don't, I lose. Then, last week, I drank diet soda instead of bottled water and gained 11 POUNDS!!!!! To top things off, I thought the diet soda was a treat for doing so well. Wrong.

I know the right things to do, I just get a little stubborn sometimes. I KNOW better in other words.

I am in the middle of a book called I Can Make You Thin by Paul McKenna. It is easy to grasp and makes total sense. The book comes with an hypnosis CD. I will use the CD once finished with the book.

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. It is freezing here!

I am clipping coupons tonight. I hope there are some good ones for ingredients for my crockpot. Something good and healthy.

Lately, the clearance produce is gone before I even get there or I would be eating some good garden salads.

I just CANNOT figure out how I have gained the 11 pounds.

Have a good evening. emoticon

Boy am I glad I found this team... Although I watch calories, get in the most activity I possibly can... I have gained 11 pounds...

I have ordered exercise music from the library and the Sparkpeople books too. If I like, I will buy from Amazon.

I am simply devastated. I am a team leader of upteen teams and have gained 11 pounds? uuugh

I am making simple spaghetti w/ meat sauce for dinner. My housemate wants dinner late. So, I need a snack. If I have a snack, lord knows how many more pounds I will gain! emoticon

Oh well, I will get back on that wagon and figure out what I have done wrong. I know I am not alone. I will Spark on!

I'm adding this to "obstacles" to weight loss: a husband being home all day!! Nice having him home, but doesn't do a thing for weight loss!! ( I need "sighing" emoticon...)

I did not lose an ounce over the weekend, I'm realizing weekends are much harder with many more temptations. Because of that, I will really have to work doubly hard this week - which makes me tired just thinking about it, but I am determined to make this happen, and know that I can't allow myself to have weeks where nothing changes or I will get discouraged. I am NOT going to get discouraged and quit this time. I know there will be setbacks, but I will still find something positive to commend myself on! I know that maintaining my motivation is a big, big part of the journey.

Nice to see the numbers on the scale decreasing a little! My jumpstart was my long walks while camping last week, and then yard and garden work this week. I can feel the muscles strengthening, the cravings decreasing, and the desire to keep on growing. It feels downright good!!! emoticon

Good for you i can relate. I love my wine! But it puts me over in carbs and cal. So you made a milestone today! Celebrate with sitting on a chair then stand then sit 10 times! You can do it! Celebrate! Reward yourself with an extra glass of water. Celebrate the healthy! emoticon

Building my bucket list and enjoying the ones I've accomplished!!!
I quit smoking and have visited 34 out of 50 states, went to Disneyland in 2014 for the first time, had African lobster in 2014, and went to second hand stores in Laguna Beach Cal.
Enjoyed a Thanksgiving Dinner in 80 degree weather in Cal. For the first time.

Six weeks during March and April of 2015, I completed four times a week with a trainer. Wow! at the age of 63!

I know many of you are past this point, but maybe you can remember when it was a challenge for you as well, and will celebrate with me: I made it through the afternoon, with NO JUNK FOOD!! I know that's a no-brainer, but so hard for me to do. But I did it today, and I'm patting myself on the back! emoticon

When I first found sparks, I knew it was a blessing. But I backslid terribly and paid for it in pounds. Refocused again in July. Am down @20, but still a long way to go. Need to stay motivated, so i'm trying to get more involved wit other members. Still consider this site a blessing. Its amazing how focused it keeps me!

My youngest daughter wanted to lose weight before she had another baby but after losing about 10lbs she got pregnant. Her doctor just told her to eat healthy, be active and she won't gain as much as her last pregnancy. She has about 4 months to go.
You will find support on this site. So many helpful people here.

I have been busy getting my daughter ready to graduate and in the coming months I will be moving my son up North for his new job/apprentice schooling. Teaching Zumba and my full time job make it challenging to keep up with the team. I could use some help with team leadership. If you are interested, please send me a note so I can add you as a team leader.

I hate seeing the team suffer because my schedule has been so busy.
