Yes! I was definitely afraid that I would somehow not be able to lose the weight... or stretch my pouch... or a dozen other concerns. I think it's fairly common to worry about it after trying so many things that just haven't worked out for us. The truth of the matter is, follow the rules and it works! emoticon You're already succeeding and should be SO proud of yourself! emoticon emoticon

Stick to your program and the weight will come off. I am way below what I set for my goal weight. I love my new body and the way I feel. I shop till I drop. I have gone from a tight 28W to a 6/8P. People that I haven't seen for awhile do not recognize me, I love it.

Keep up the good work, I still have not gotten used to the comments of how small I am, but know I am now in a 16-14 down from a 28/30. I absolutely love the thrift stores! I am able to shop everyday and spend less than four or five dollars. emoticon

Read ... Read ... Read ... all the wonderful spark pages at your disposal here. Many of us who are post-op have documented our journeys. We had the same fears as you ... everything has failed us in the past.

But, heed the warnings that have been passed. Learn new habits, put all those things you have read about into play early on in your recovery to make them habits. Find healthy alternatives that are tastier than their bad counterparts.

Most of all ... believe in yourself! 6 months down the road, you will not recognize yourself ... a year down the road ... some people will not recognize the fact that you were ever heavy ... 18 months down the road you will begin to realize that you can do this ... and because you have made all those healthy changes habit ... well, suffice it to say, shopping can become a new addiction! :-)

I agree that is what happened to me as well. Just follow the rules that you were given and you can be successful.

Best of luck to all!

emoticon and congrats on the weight loss. I am four months postop and have hit a plateau. I've been at the same weight about 3 weeks and it is very frustrating. My sister, who had her surgery in April, said the same thing happened to her. Just hang in there and know that the procedure will work if you follow the rules!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

Most of the weight will come off. Just don't keep bad eating habits or the weight will come back on. That's what happened to me. Once I started eating healthy and exercising, the weight came off. But I did learn my lesson!

The surgery does not fail, we do by not sticking to the rules of good health.

Best to you.

Welcome to the team. I am about 5 weeks post-op (I had surgery on 9-30) and just went through my first plateau. I had lost 37 pounds, then gained 1 1/2 pounds and then sat there for 2 weeks. I just broke through that plateau and have dropped 4 pounds since Friday for a total of 41. It was very frustrating but I just hung in there. Don't let the plateaus get you down; they are going to happen.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far; you're doing great!

Colleen
