Howdy howdy howdy, hoopin friends! I'm back, at least for a moment, lol. :)

Good for you, Tori, hope the new rebounder is great! I've got one that's eons old, fits nicely under the pool table. Once in a great while I pull it out and bounce, but I get bored kinda quickly with it, although it's probably better on my joints than some things. :)

I've been so busy with some home remodeling projects and a few crappy health issues (bad back, AGAIN, ugh, but finally getting better!) that I just left SP for a while, but hope to be a bit more active now. I hooped yesterday for the first time in I don't know how long!

Here's to good days ahead for all of us! Hugs and God's blessings to all! :)

Thanks DJ. I DO have a rebounder as well and I got for that reason of fun and all the many health benefits. Now I need to use again. The bungee rebounder I have was pronating my ankles so I am still thinking about buying a new one. Sometimes too cheap on myself. ;(

It is amazing how we grow up and just are not as much fun. We get self-conscious about not looking childish and we MISS OUT! I am proud of you for working on bringing out that little girl. I love flying kites. All your cares fly away. Hooping is great. Also, think about a mini-trampoline. It is hard to take life too seriously when you are bouncing up and down. Keep up the good work. A good reminder to all of us. Thanks for sharing.

I've been going back to what I used to like when I was a kid to bring out that little girl who had fun. I am tired of hiding that little girl. She may not have much fun, but this big girl is going to help her and Snoopy is the one!

Lol, a weave is a great place to start because it has a flow and isn't hard. Isolations take a little more practice but wonderful for arms & shoulders. Have fun. A hike sounds nice. I need to do some housework but I am being lazy today. Have a great weekend.

Wow, hooping off body? Not there yet. When I watch Deanne's video I have to pause and replay so many times. I think I need help with the isolation moves, those are good for toning your arms and one reason why I want to master those. I still have to practice enough to waist hoop and step/ dance side to side. Mine still falls. Well, I have not hooped for a few days. I am increasing my stamina and when I really walk a few miles, it zonks me out and nothing more but working around the house is good for me. Well, hope this week is better, it should, where I can do a good hike, and ST that will include hooping. Have a great Sat. All.

Hi Sue, We are very glad you are enjoying the team. We have a great group and we all get busy at times, but come and chat as much as life permits. We care about each other and we check in on people when they go missing but only out of concern. So grab a cup of something and pop in when you can.

I know what you mean about missing "normal" life. We keep control where we can. That's neat you are growing your hair out. I dressed up today just because I needed it. Btw, how do you keep your hair from drying out so bad? Mine gets really dry. It is bad enough when it is grey but when I dye it, I have to moisturize it daily. Even then it is frizzy.

Waist hooping is very difficult. You are doing very well to keep it up even for a few seconds. It is a great exercise. As far as more links and easier tricks, I have a ton of links. Be sure to check the thread below too. Tell me more about what you are wanting. Do you like the idea of off body moves or are you wanting to stick with on body? If you are open to trying different things, I will be glad to point you in that direction too. The hoop is incredibly versatile. It has unlimited ways to move and groove. When I get bored, I go hoop video binging. I find that when you just browse and keep trying different tricks and just playing, the tricks just start happening. Do you know what the basic weave is? That is a GREAT starters for off body.
All of the links are free:

#4 trick is the weave. Most of my flows stem from weaves.

Now that I'm up and at 'em, lol, I looked at that Deanne Love link to keep a hoop up, and whoa...that is NOT easy! I think I'm gonna need lots of practice to do shoulder hooping! Thank you for the link, in any case. (She's terrific!!!) I've bookmarked it so I can work on it. Any other easier tricks to work on, any links?
I really thank you all, this is a good group, even though I'm so taken up with other things these days and I don't get on here nearly enough. emoticon emoticon

Hi, gals!
There's no way I could waist hoop with my little polypro twins, oh my gosh, I'd be spinning so fast you wouldn't see me!! lol. But I love my heavy Papa hoop, and my danceweight Mama hoop I can keep up for a couple seconds, anyway, heh.
Tori and DJ, as far as going grey: It's a pain dying my hair, been doing it for years, but I can't not do it. It would be giving up and letting myself go, (and that's my personal opinion of myself, not anyone else!) and I just can't. I have, however, made the decision NOT to get my hair cut: I'm gonna let it go all the way down to my butt. Now that's a rebellious thing in me, because I just do not want to go to a hair salon with all these crazy restrictions in place, I hate the lack of freedom these days, so I fight it as I can. Some things you can't fight, I realize that. . My son asked me today what I wanted for my birthday, and I said, can you make things go back to normal again, lol. Ah, well.

Anyway, really loving the hooping these days, and I think I need to learn some new tricks to keep it fresh. All you lovelies have a great Friday, I'm taking a shower and going to bed! :) :)

Toning with "fun" is always great! I love being active. I have to admit that I am not as active as I was when things were "regular" before everything shut down. I am starting to get a new schedule so I am back to being a little more active. I went paddleboarding this morning. I am going again in the morning. I am ready to get back to enjoying some activities. It is very hot and muggy in Florida so DH and I decided to go extra early. It was wonderful. That will make outside activities more doable.

That is great you were able to share hooping with your friend. It is fun to share hoop happiness. I hope you can get together regularly. Most of us on the team are older. In fact, I have decided during isolation to stop dyeing my hair because it just seemed to damage my hair so much. I am not sure I am ready to be totally grey again but I am going to try. I agree, It is totally unfair. Lol. That is great you are keeping the hoop up and barely moving. I am always surprised how hard it is when I take a break from waist hooping. I can only waist hoop with my HDPE dance hoop. I would love to be able to waist hoop with my polypro. It is just so light. However, I do really love waist hooping with the HDPE. It is so flowy. It wasn't always that way. In fact, when I take a break from it, it takes a little while to build back the muscles. It seems like muscle goes away so much faster than it comes back. Another thing that is unfair. Sounds like you are doing great. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the link. Yes, still enjoy it and love toning with "fun".
I introduced hooping to a friend yesterday and we had a blast hooping in her driveway. We are a little older, I look older with my grey hair, not fair, but I was so happy when they said I was hooping and it looked like I was hardly moving. I invsion myself moving like a wild wire!!! I left her with the heavy duty rubber hoop for exercising and she loves that one. Her HS even tried and did so well. She made a video of us. Cute!!!

Hi Tori. So glad you asked. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvGa

Hope this helps. It is not easy but with lots of practice, it will come. I also find 3M Grip tape really helps to get it up. My problem is the hips want to come to the party. It is hard to isolate the top half but you can practice that even without the hoop. It is a great move for your back muscles. Let me know if you have any questions. The main thing is to enjoy the process of learning and having fun. It sounds like you are doing a great job.

Viewing my beginners kit from D. Love and wondered anyone knows if there is a video on how to move the hoop upward from waist. She has a video doing a workout but does not refer to a tutorial.

“The life of man is a self-evolving circle, which, from a ring imperceptibly small, rushes on all sides outwards to new and larger circles, and that without end. The extent to which this generation of circles, wheel without wheel, will go, depends on the force or truth of the individual soul.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Glad you had a good visit. That is great you are making progress with hooping. It is fun when you see an improvement or trick that works. Just keep having fun and playing and the tricks will come. The nice thing about it is it all builds muscles including picking up the hoop. Lol. Have fun.

I have been doing isolations until my arms were burning. Lol. It is a fun way to get a good burn.

The visit with in-laws went well. I prayed and felt so much better. I have been looking at Deanne's videos. It's a kit I payed for and we dance and practice and my rythmn is the pits with the hoop. I feel so stiff. I did surprise myself when I realized I can turn in a circle and still hoop. That was really fun. I had to stop from dizziness !!! lol

My day did not turn out like I hoped. Time past, I was tired, and realized I had to clean the house. BaM! Thankful and kicking myself all the way since I wish I did during the week. Well, it's almost done. In between cleaning rooms, I took a hoop break to hoop 100 times around my waist. It was good relaxer and refocused to cleaning. Better day tomorrow and will get more hooping in as well.

Joanne, sounds like you had a lot of fun. A lot of time at the beach. Hope you didn't get sun burned. We want to hear all about the fun you had. I bet the grand kids had a great time too. They keep us young. We missed you, but happy that you had a great vacation.

Had to go to work early, so no exercises. Came home and fixed catfish, fresh red potatoes, & fried squash (both fresh from the garden). Yum!!! It was so good. Then took a much needed nap. Enjoyed some hoop time, then cleaned the patio & vacuumed out the pool. Then enjoyed a nice night swimming. Topped it off with some more squash, potatoes, and venison. Life is good!!!

So glad to see my buddies back. I am smiling ear to ear. That is a great idea to have at least a weekly checkin. I am guilty of falling off the face of the earth and not coming back for a spell. I try really hard not to do that. lol

Joanne was asking how we can get a weekly digest from this group instead of a bunch of little one. Under the managing your teams it gives that option for most teams, but not this one. The reason is we need to have at least 10 people on the team. Why? I don't know that, but we are almost there.

So glad you guys are back. I hope to chat more later this afternoon. Although grand kids are coming over so it may be tomorrow.

Sorry I have been MIA! Life just seemed to get super complicated and busy with family and babysitting the grandkids and yard work and planting the garden. I would like to make a point of checking into each of my teams at least once a week, which is why I asked about the weekly digest - it is a good reminder for when a person checks their email and there it is: stop and say hi to your teammates!
Hope everyone has been enjoying some fine weather and sunshine!

That is great! What is your favorite thing to enjoy in the spring? For me is hiking. Today we went on a mile & half hike for our 35th anniversary along with a picnic. It was perfect. Once it gets more warmth, we will continue the celebration. lol Enjoy your spring. Hope you get a chance to enjoy your hoop.

Yesterday I stayed busy until 6:00 pm. We finally ate supper and about 7:30 or 8:00 I finally said I am going to hula hoop. Did about 20 minutes. I was so tired, but it felt so good to just relax in the hoop. It amazes me how comforting the hoop is in every mood. I really love it. Too busy today to even touch it. Hope to reserve time tomorrow for a good flow session.

Oh my goodness! What have I done. Last night I felt better but not well enough to really get up and exercise. So I thought I would sign up for a couple of challenges. Nothing wrong with that, right? So I signed up for Jenny Craig secret to success and finding 10. So one of the challenges showed cardio as hooping, dancing, and rebounding as well as mopping and washing the car. So when you feel a bit better but not yet in reality, you decide to sign up for several new teams. Then I found the 5% Challenge. So of course I have signed up for that one as well. They have a bunch of posting/recording REQUIRED. So today I have sat here posting on all my new teams and thinking I need some structure to keep me active and not on the computer. lol. Oh well, I definitely changed things up on my exercise program. Should be interesting.

Lol. It is a good problem to have. I decided to try the calendar. I did legs the other day and then my son came down. I really had fun. All the relatives came to breakfasts, luncheons, & dinners. So I am whipped but really enjoyed it. I will probably hit the exercises hard tomorrow. I will have to ease into it since I took several days off. Always surprised how a few days off can really effect the muscles. They get weak quickly. Can't wait to get in a good hoop time.

Hey DJ, loved your question about how to choose which activities! I always say there aren't enough days in the week to do all the fitness classes I would like to do! (Or enough money in the bank!) I don't have an answer for you! I am always trying something new, but then don't want to give up my old classes either, especially when you make new friends in every class... plus all the seasonal fun things like skiing in winter, and bike riding in summer...
Let me know when you find a way to fit it all in!!

Yes, Too many changes at one time is risky. Right now I am still in Holiday Mode. So ready to get back to lots of veggies and less resturant food. Really enjoying our son while he is here and all the family coming over to visit him. He leaves Thursday morning. So while he is here, I will just relax and enjoy.

Thanks for your reply.

I would say just add one small new change to your routine. You might want to subustitute one activity for another. You don't want to burn yourself out.

Question: I have my regular routine but sometimes wonder if I should do one of the calendar routines that some people have. There is one I am thinking about, (Blogilates) but a little nervous because she seems a little intense. She has a variety of exercises which seems fun, but don't know if I can really do it for the whole hour. Then I think it might push me harder and tone quicker. My routine is more like a handful of exercises and repeat. Both amount to one hour per day for 6 days. I appreciate your thoughts.

Question 2: I have so many fun activities that aren't actually workouts, but instead more like active fun or fun activities. How do you fit those in or decide between so many with a limited time. I have some I can go to in town & others are on You Tube. I love You Tube, but it opens up so many things that I would not have access to. So I see some of the activities I enjoy fall by the wayside because of lack of time. I know I have way too many interests. Thanks for all input.

The kale sounds good.

We are located just south of Alabama so our weather does get cold. Tonight it should be low 50s but tomorrow will be low 70s. For Easter we should get 77 degrees. Usually in the winter, we will have 40s for a few days then warm up to 60s and sometimes 70s. Sometimes those 40s will dip to 20-30s but never usually last more than a few days.

Summer is another story. It will get 80s & 90s and humidity is high 90+%. We swim a lot to stay cool. lol.

We dry the Kale in the dehydrator. We use Avacado oil and sprinkle with yeast nutrients. It's really good. Do you have nice weather all year round SIMMONSCORNER?

Everything is so good fresh from the garden. We have mustard greens and potatoes planted. So delicious. How do you cook your kale. I have tried several ways but not really in love with kale. I am excited to plant the rest: tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, etc.

Great weather here for kite flying as well. Sometimes we will see people flying them in the park near our house. We can see them out our dining room window. Snow is melting fast so maybe Spring is truly just around the corner. DH planted some Kale in boxes in the house so he is ready and excited about gardening.

I am still wearing sweaters and I am in Florida. The wind has been really blowing so grand kids and I have been flying kites. I love hearing the giggles from the 5 year old as his owl kite takes off.
