my normal sleep is 9 - 10 hours
of course we are tracking - always seems to be on full moon ( do not sleep well before & after) and hurricane ... so it has been 6-7 hours

Many have asked how I'm really doing after my hip replacement, so after completing my first official PT appointment yesterday afternoon, I can say I am doing very well.

Surgery was last Wednesday but I had been a good girl and was doing the pre-op exercises to build up what I could. Surgery was at 7:30 am and when they brought me from recovery, they had me sit in the chair rather than climbing into bed. After lunch, PT had me up and a trip around the hallway. The nurses had me doing longer loops a couple more times that afternoon. Granted, I still had the last of the drugs on board, so I was feeling pretty good.

The next day, OT had me around 5:30 am to get dressed with them so they could make sure I could dress myself safely. After breakfast and another trip around the hallway (moving a little slower as the surgery drugs were clear of my system), my daughter arrived and we had a group PT going through all of the exercises. I was cleared for discharge after lunch and home by 2:00 pm. My daughter stayed with me that night and went home on Friday while I took a nap, coming back at dinner time with the boys. We needed her husband to move my bed to make the in and out easier.

By Saturday, I'd established the routine of exercising in the morning and afternoon, getting stronger and more fluid. By today, I've decreased the opoiod usage and increased my range. I still need my daughter's help with the compression socks but everything else is closer to independence. Pain is there but it's more like sore muscles; nothing acute. I do have to be mindful how I walk but I'm off the walker for most activities, using the cane. I do keep the walker by the bed since I tend to wake up groggy and less mindful of how I'm moving.

In other words, I'm crushing this! I do get tired and need naps so I haven't resumed all of my pre-op computer tasks. The preparations have paid off and I continue to be a good girl, getting my daughter's help when I need it even though I'd love to cut her free. She's been a real trouper during all this. The whole family has been.

There's a lot of work ahead in the next few weeks but I'm ready. And with all of the cheerleaders I have in SP, I can't lose. You guys rock!

Thanks to all of you who have dropped me goodies and good wishes. I do feel blessed with such wonderful friends. Though it will be a while before I can get back to posting on specific times, I am thinking of all of you.

Good Morning team. on July 15 2020 I had my first signs of COVID-19. By July 22 2020 I was in the hospital I would have gone a day earlier but I had no energy to get there.

I have been doing very well with my weight loss journey and was very up set with this interruption. During this time, since my move would be limited, I made a decision to work on my food intake focusing on fruits veggies and very light protein and portion control. After I was admitted to the hospital I found this to be very easy. Now that I am home I am still using a hospital menu style of eating. This is working very well for me. I feel full after meals and still have room for a small snack.

My stay in the hospital was very short (BLESSED) my husband is still there ( Please PRAY for him) Since I won't be doing any great amounts of cardio I am using my step reminder as my breathing exercise reminder lol. I have to use this thing 10 times a day it shows me how strong my lungs are getting. Plus 10 mins of yoga in the morning and evening. I am also doing some form of light cardio most likely in a chair.

To come out of this stronger than I was before I must be smart and not over work myself. So I am planning on doing 10 mins of chair cardio for at least 2 weeks. I would like to move from the chair in 2 week but time will tell I my have to stay in chair exercise longer so I will just increase my exercise times.

A healthy diet and my vitamin supplements are going to be very important for me right now. I have a friend coming by to help me put together some meals so that I can just put them in the microwave or the air fryer.

Thank you all for you love, thoughts,prayers and support. It truly keeps me going.
