Today was my 2nd 5k. I ran the whole way and shaved 1;27 off my previous time. It was very hard (I'm 63 and just started running this year), but the temp was a perfect 59. I have felt so good about myself all day. Everyone should try this. I'm like a smoker, who just quit, and wants the whole world to quit too. My daughter ran with me and supported and encouraged me all the way. emoticon

10/3 1am

I jogged for at least 5-7 mins. But at a slow pace. It was my first time to be able to jog that long, even at a slow pace. (10 seconds for a little faster pace) My breath was going. So, I slowed to a jog crawl. Just to catch my breath. Then once walked for 10 seconds because my pj pants where kinda falling. Lol I'm just kinda proud of myself.

Wooo! C25K Week 1 done!

I decided, due to my shin splints, that I would like to repeat week 1 next week to build strength in my shins and legs before moving on. I feel great overall to move on but I want to be careful with my shins.

I'm still moving! Wooooo!

I ran 15 minutes non stop yesterday!! I've been following the C25K running program (Robert Ullrey Podcasts) and am on the Week 5 podcast. I didn't do day 1 of week 5, I skipped to day 2, and on my second run I sort of.... just kept running!
I did 15 minutes, walked 5, ran 8, walked 5, ran 10!! A total of 33 minutes of running!!! That's the most I've done in 10 years!!!
I CAN DO IT!!!

I DID IT!!! I ran my first 5K race this past weekend! I was so surprised that I finished. I came in just under 50 minutes which I am excited about! Training for it and actually running it are so different. When I saw I had finished 1 mile - I was like - OK I can do this. Then the 2 mile marker came up and I just couldn't believe it. When I crossed the finish line with my sister (who runs marathons!) I was elated! She was so supportive and very willing to slow her pace for me. What a great motivator. I plan to running another one soon!

I started! I've been running some for the last several weeks so I started at week 2 and it was a little easier than my usual routine, so next time, I may jump forward to week 3. Thanks for the motivating forum and keep it up, everyone!

Ran my first 5K this weekend in about 42 minutes! Ran for about 3/4 of it, next time I'll run all of it!

For some reason, I was able to run 2 miles in 30 minutes this morning. I know this is by far not even close to the pace I wanted to be going at this point but hey, it was a new high for me!

Started week 6 today. I had to wait an extra day as the last day I ran I tripped and fell and strained my left quad. I couldn't stand to go another day without working out (30 min of walking was killing me!), so I decided I'd just go slow and see how it felt. I definitely went slow, but the quad feels better than it has the past three days and I can't wait to attempt w6d2 on Tuesday! Congratulations to all those who completed 5Ks this weekend! I envy you!!!!!!

I just did my first 5K today! I am only in week 4 of the program, so I participated as a walker/jogger, but it was SO COOL and I'm so proud of myself for finishing!!! I ran about a mile's worth and walked the rest. I don't have an official time (because they don't time the walkers) but the race clock said 42:15 when I crossed the finish line. I never would have imagined myself doing a 5K six months ago! I have already registered for my next race in November. I hope to run more of it...

AWESOME!It's the only word I have to describe how I felt after running for 20 min. non stop. For me, today was easier than W5D2. I don't know why. I decided not to use the podcast today and just listen to a radio morning show on my mp3. Glad I did because it took my mind off of me thinking how much time was left. The first time I bothered to look at my watch I was half way through.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Last Saturday at 5:20 a.m. I finished the C25K! I got up early (start work at 7:00 a.m.) so I could do the last day. I had a high all weekend! And Monday I ran the 3 miles again. I really want to keep this up. Thanks for all the support you all have given me. Reading blogs and checking in has been a great source of reference for me. Thank you!:)

W2D1 yesterday and I ran 2.25 miles in 35 minutes! It felt great. I had trained some before this and had hurt my knee so I was taking it slow. I followed this plan and I was surprised I had gone that far! It was like I had picked up where I left off 3 weeks ago. Running outside is soooo much better than a treadmill. At least for me.
