I agree with you Kay. Ive always been a light sleeper than kids made it worse lol. Seems normal now to be sleep deprived.

Nutrition coaching is great. Am down a little past my normal fluctuation point. Accountability, encouragement, cant beat it for motivation.

Maybe I need a sleep coach lol

I feel like my main stress point right now is getting quality sleep. Most nights I fall asleep easily enough, but I tend to wake up way too early, and sometimes have trouble falling back to sleep.

Perhaps another challenge for me is delegating work, I tend to take it all on, rather than ask for help or give it to someone who may be better suited for the task.

Great prompt, Daruis! I'll have to give that one some thought...

And thanks for chiming in on the CrossFit experience. It can be intimidating, I remember watching the classes and thinking they looked so fit, I wouldn't fit in. But I've found our community to be very welcoming to new folks, and we do come together for our shared goals. They make it fun to do, and make me want to not skip out on workouts.

I agree, if the first experience doesn't click, try another place. You want to find your people, and that might not happen the first try.

Kelpie, I like your idea of finding you happy place, and deep breaths always put me in a better state of mind.

Darius, I love the idea......

A suggestion

When I am stressed I visualise something (a place, a person, an activity) I love, and take deep breaths, placing myself in that happy situation.

DARIUS2792,

To answer your question:

When I am stressed, I (-) something I love. How do you fill in the blank?

When I am stressed, I write in my journal which is something I love to do.

When I am stressed, I go on a long walk which is something I love to do.

When I am stressed, drink something warm like tea with cream and sugar
which is something I love.

Thanx for filling me a little in on your CrossFit experiences.

KAYOTIC,

I appreciate your information about CrossFit. For some reason, it was feeling intimidating.
I will do some reading up and investigating. Thanx... .

Good morning,
Kay was my inspiration to try CrossFit last year and now I am hooked. You should try it. The first box was not a good fit for me so dont be discouraged if it takes more than one try. I participate in classes now, but still do one on ones twice a week because they work more toward my individual needs of stretching and mobility.

Last year was fitness focused. This year is nutrition and logging diary is key. I joined a coaching program for the nutrition since I have not been accountable to myself and it is working for me. A little extra push to keep me honest lol. So I agree with all of you about keeping track. Keep going!!!

I know all of you agree as care givers it is so easy to put ourselves on the back burner to every other thing going on. Thanks for this self care reminder!

PS. I found this on mindful Mondays:
When Im hungry, I eat what I love. When Im bored, I do something I love. When Im lonely, I connect with someone I love. When I feel sad I remember I am loved.

It needs: When I am stressed, I (-) something I love. How do you fill in the blank?

the box is the gym! I'm not sure why it's called a box...just a CrossFit lingo thing I guess. I think there is an article on SparkPeople that does a breakdown of what CrossFit is, so you may want to check that out.

If you want to try it out, I would encourage you to google CrossFit in your area, they should have some choices, and you could check them out for a good fit. My box has a "on ramp" program where they take a few weeks one on one with newbies and teach them proper form and common moves before they start classes with the group. That's probably a good thing to look for, as you want a program where the coaches are going to pay attention and help out folks who need it during the workouts.

You can also check out CrossFit.com (I think that's what it is) they post a daily workout and have lots of videos showing movements, and how to scale. Don't be intimidated by the daily workouts, they are generally for top athletes, most of the rest of us would scale to appropriate levels of skill. I think you should try it out!

I had my facial today, two decadent hours of pampering...

KAYOTIC,

I know absolutely nothing about CrossFit and do not even actually know what a box is?

I have had several people suggest to me that they think I would be a good fit for CrossFit.

Kay, yes, thanks, I have added my more frequent recipes into the sparkbase. I have to admit that for some things I sort of guess how much of a veg is in the gratin that we are eating. My reasoning is that even dif it isn't perfect the mere fact of writing it down makes it more mindful. And I do (usually) weigh the cheese! That was an eye opener, especially for grated cheese that we would add to soup, or ratatouille type of dishes.

One of the things I noted about 8/16 was that was basically what we did when I was a child. We didn't eat between meals, except for designated snack times, pudding was often a fruit, our last meal of the day was between 5 and 6 and then nothing til breakfast the next morning. When we stayed with my aunt and uncle it was a huge treat that we had cheese and biscuits around 9 pm. Now, living in France, our evening meal is a lot lot later. Doing the 8/18 isn't really feasible for me at the moment, however really reducing calories two days a week, and keeping within reasonable the rest seems attainable. We'll see.

And I keep in mind an analogy I read years ago about slip ups. If you give your car a scratch, you're not going to total it! So why do the same with healthy eating!

The scale is going the right way. I have lost over a 1 kg this month. My aim is 1kg a month until I get to my healthy BMI. And before we have a family holiday at the end of May.

I'm on babysitting duty this weekend. That should keep me moving.

Let's do this

When I was tracking I would add the recipe into Spark Recipes, and then it would show up on my logging choices. This is particularly good if you make the same recipe a lot.

Hobbes, what are you looking for as far as CrossFit goes? How to find a box, what workouts to do? I found my tribe because I was training with the box owner, and I moved over to CrossFit when he went on a long vacation, and basically fell in love! And I never thought I'd be one to work out with other people...but the group motivate me to keep going, there is always someone cheering you on, or that you can cheer on. Anyway, I can answer your questions (I hope) just throw them out there!

As far as IF goes, I think it's a good way to go. I used to be ambivalent about it, and really thought it wasn't a good idea for me (or women in general because of our different hormones, etc) but I've been skipping breakfast 2-3 times a week, and I feel like it's helping. I was really creeping up the scale at the end of 2019, and my weight has come back down about 5 pounds over the last month or so with the IF (not severe IF) and only drinking wine a couple of nights a week (as opposed to 5-7 nights!) It was becoming a nightly habit to have a glass of wine, and then the snacking would start and it's all over from there! But if I don't have the wine, pick up my knitting, and stay out of the kitchen after dinner I find I'm doing much better.

So my self care this weekend is a facial I have scheduled. I had to cancel in January, but I'm going to make this a monthly indulgence, and see how it goes!

Yep me too Kelpie...getting the logging to be "automatic" first then will set an exercise goal...I tried an exercise goal a couple of weeks ago but it only lasted a week...hurt my arm a little...think it's just a muscle pull but made me decide to focus on nutrition...when my nutrition was great I didn't get these aches that I've been getting lately...

Hobbes...I've also been guilty of eating for no good reason during the last year...I'm hoping that putting the time into tracking will help me...my plan is to say to myself - "you're not really hungry and if you eat that it will make all the time you spent tracking today a waste - eat that small apple instead then go for a short walk or find something productive to do"...lol hopefully myself will listen!

Unfortunately yesterday was a complete and utter failure for me as far as tracking goes...got a phone call in the morning...a semi-emergency that had to be dealt with...these things will happen so I MUST plan tomorrow today!

Kelpie we eat mostly from scratch too...if I'm making a soup or stew I weigh ingredients as I throw them in, jot it down then enter as one meal on the tracker and save as a group...then when I eat I can just select the group and enter the portion that I'm eating (sometimes I weigh the final total product and the portion as I eat it to get it exact...sometimes I just estimate)...it's a bit cumbersome because I have to delete the meal after I save it as a group or it will look like I had 2000 calories in one sitting! but I find it easier that entering a recipe...

OK since I failed at my tracking yesterday today is already a better day!

We can do this!

Mary

Logging food first, then upping exercise.

And journalling. I realise that I don't journal when I'm really upset. The opposite of what I should be doing.

The hardest thing for food logging for me is that we make almlost everything from scratch. However, even if at times my guesswork about quantities is a bit off, just logging makes me more aware of every mouthful, so that is good.

KELPIE57 And MRSAND,

Good for you in your revived commitment to You...

I’ve been really dedicated these past few days and feeling changes already in a short period of time.

Besides logging in my food on Spark People I am also doing a good journal. I eat to satiate something other than hunger which is unhealthy. I am trying to learn how to curb this whatever it is besides my stomach that wants to be fed.

Good morning!

Hobbes - Kay is our crossfit champ! I'm sure she can answer almost any question you have!

Kelpie - I am with you 100%...I'm logging my food before I start eating it now and soon hope to have 3 or 4 days "pre-logged" and much of it pre-prepped...having a plan in place helps me not grab that piece of cheese...partly because I have other choices ready and partly because I'll be eating more veggies so I won't be hungry and tempted!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

We can do this!

Mary

My first challenge is to take the time it needs. And to spend my time more widely.

Logging food is number one for me. It doesn't work for everyone, I know, however I also know that when I do it, I am more aware of what goes in my mouth, and ultimately into my stomach. That wee bit of cheese? That glass of wine? That chocolate?

I also want to do Intermittent Fasting.

And increase my movement....

Not a lot to ask of myself, is it.

But first of all, and most important, take the time I need to really work out what I need to do, and what I can realistically do.

Let's do this

What should I be looking for in a recommendation... ?

I have put on a lot of weight in the past three years and it is time to get going before I can not.

Let's start this self care challenge!

My first step is my nutrition...I know what worked for me for years but still have managed to go completely off track for over a year now...can't change the past but I can have a nutritious day today!

We can do this!

Is that like a plie squat? Or sometimes we do sumo style (feet close together vs far apart?).

Open bottle would require some drinking! I would have to agree! emoticon

I have today off, dentist appointment, then seeing my financial counselor.

My sciatica is feeling better, not gone, but not as noisy! I'm going to see if I can try out the mat pilates classes at the gym after we're back from Seattle...recommended by my PT. I may attempt some of the Budokon moves at home, to see if I think I'm ready to get back to that too.

Whilst we restrict alcohol to the weekends, no way I can restrict to one glass.....unless I'm driving.

J makes his own beer and cider, and I sometimes have cider instead of wine. less alcohol, and really quite refreshing.

Got back to the gym, and boy my body is feeling it after almost three months absence. I think it was one of the moves I'd started at home as part of a warm up/stretch routine, open hip squats I think they're called.

Let's keep the momentum going!

KAy- haha...yes, a beer after an 8 miler would be nice. We actually hadsome wine this weekend. This is the deal...
It was 112, 113, then 112, then 100...I then made 3 batches of fig jam, which needed some wine...so we had to open some. And since it was open...welp...we had to drink it! A good way to deal with the heat.

KAy- how is the sciatica?

Jo- Haha..I love weddings...great goals...we know there will be photos!

I kept it to one glass of wine on Saturday, but I was tempted to go back for another....reminded myself that I probably would regret it in the morning, so switched to La Croix instead.

I guess for the sciatica I'm torn between letting it heal and sucking it up, and working through the pain. I know I should just rest and heal, but that's not really in my nature... emoticon and it makes me feel like a bit of a slacker. I did get some encouraging words from my PT today though, he said he's not worried about me, since he sees me at the gym, and knows I hike, not slacking! I guess I should just accept that it may take some time before I'm ready to get back to CF and my Budokon. I do miss it though.

I may enjoy a glass of wine tonight though, start of the long weekend! emoticon

Kelpie- Yes yes yes...details matter! In so many ways.

Little things. Love you!

Kay- yep, seriously no drinking..haha. I didn't for most of my adult life. I had the responsibility of the children and other's children most days. It just never made sense.
So ,yep we indulged for a few years...but find I am so sensitive to sleep disturbances...not worth. I do so love the complex aromas of a lovely glass of wine in my hand...
I just have to choose .

I hear you about 'Normal'...want it...but what is it, right? Who knows.
But you sound better Kay.

Fraid I enjoy my wine waaayyyyyy too much. We don't drink during the week, high days and holidays excepted, and that is making a big difference overall.

Small things add up, both positively, and also on the other side too!

Maybe I'll ask about every other day PT next time I see him. The exercises aren't that strenuous at all, mostly small movements on my back, and now I'm not really doing many (it's cut way back from what I had been doing earlier). I find the tylenol helps, I really notice if I forget to take it. I had very little vertigo on Saturday, but it's back again. It clears very quickly, and doesn't seem "as bad" but still annoying....I just want to be NORMAL again! Whatever that means! emoticon

10 glasses of wine a year? That's really cutting back! I don't think I'm ready to go that far just yet, but I'm certainly not missing it that much.

Howdy goalies!

Kay- OK...glad PT is going well , maybe better. PT said every day. hmmm..have you considered doing them really well every other day? My PT and back doc both said EOD was better at my age...haha....for the lower healing /building time. Long range better effect. Maybe you are listening to your body, teh schedule...and maybe doing the best for you at the same time!
Ok drinking...yep....hardly ever any more here. I feel it too much at night and the next day. Not sure how or when this happened either...but I do best just to avoid. Maybe only 10 glasses of wine all year.

Kelpie- Ah...Love seeing you here. Playing with gdg...so fun and that'll keep you moving for sure!

Me, busy busy on the farm. Many chores right now...transitioning from summer garden to fall...gotta prep.

PT is going well, I'm struggling a bit with getting my "homework" done though. But I think my PT may have been exaggerating when he told me to do these exercises 10 x's a day. I tend to be very literal...but I've done at least 4 mostly 7 times a day the past few weeks. 8 times is a really good day. Still working on the vertigo with the PT prescription as well. I didn't notice it the last time I laid down on my back...so maybe it's working?

I have to take the car in today, but we may get out hiking tomorrow.

I'm still not drinking very much, 1 or 2 days a week, but I really felt it the other day, I had 3 glasses of wine on Larry's birthday, and was quite hungover the next day! emoticon When did I become such a lightweight?

Well, I'm going to have to refocus my goals on healing, so I can get back to the things I enjoy!

I'm still sticking to 2-3 days of alcohol/week, so that's a plus for me!

Haven't been to CrossFit or yoga in a week...I'm letting my body decide if it's OK or not, and mornings (my yoga time) are more difficult with the pain, and the CrossFit WOD's have not been "sciatica" friendly, so I've decided to do my own thing (working on my double unders and pull-ups) until I feel I can give a good effort in those classes. I do miss my friends there though...

We did get in a nice hike today though a beautiful day in the Sierra (we hiked a tiny bit of the PCT) and lots of blooms higher up the trail.

Way to go Maui!

I tracked part of a day this week...better than nothing I guess????

I am weighing my veggies and fruit to make sure I get at least 700 grams a day...1000 would be even better but compared to most days this summer 700 is an improvement...

Baby steps to get going in a better nutritional direction... emoticon

A little consideration, a little thought for others makes all the difference.

Well, I ended the week on a better note, I've been meeting with different leaders in the hospital (it's a new program they have for new leaders to meet with the directors of the different areas) and it's really fun, interesting and a great learning experience. In any case, the IT director really encouraged me to just take my time off and enjoy it, so hearing that made me feel better about just letting go of the worry and let my team do what they do. I may have a lot of work to get through when I get back, but I will also be able to work my way through it, I always do!

Made 4 CF sessions and 1 Budokon this week, so far 2 days of alcohol, maybe today for the Bastille day French club event (or maybe not, I may just bring a "La Croix" or 2 and have that for my special party drink!) I usually drive anyway, and don't like to drink if that's happening!

In garden news, my asparagus seems to have thrived in the outdoor pots, I think the original seedlings died, but the unsprouted seeds sprouted and are taking off! Maybe not such a brown thumb after all!

Kay- Ack...wrist pain ..hard location. Has all the extra work stress added to the wrist issue?? Gosh, glad you are getting away, a change up can be so good. Mental health has such an impact on the physical.
Gosh I hear you about frustration.

I am opening a french Pinot, (One we bought in France in Beaune., the heart of Pinot country) to celebrate Bastille day.
Seems appropriate...and I will likely have 2 glasses. :p

I am so sorry you are feeling frazzled.
Hugs.

I've been 3 days to CF this week, but only one Budokon....I went today, but my wrist is still wonky, I almost would have been better off skipping it. But I may not be able to go for a couple of weeks if we end up getting out of town as planned. I'm feeling a bit frazzled.... emoticon

There is a French club on Saturday (Bastille day) so I will probably have a third glass of wine this week.

Kay, yes...apricots...good thing the 'season' is only about 2 weeks long...whew!
Glad you were able to summon the focus to push yourself to go to CF. It's hard sometimes, but you seem to manage. I have a similar experience...once I am off doing whatever...I am usually really happy I did. Just getting there...right??
My regular walk buddy has been walking with me about 18 years...and we basically ALWAYS walk. Only a fever , vaca, or a surgery day keeps us away...we will walk till the end. Nice to know. She is a reliable friend in many many ways. Yep...very lucky.

I am still holding my own! Woohoo...this is kinda amazing really. Excited!

That would be hard for me too, I LOVE apricots.... emoticon emoticon

I made it to CrossFit tonight, really had to push myself to go! After skipping Friday though, I really need to not get into that habit. I am glad I went! I may try to go more this week, since I'll be missing 2 weeks coming up here.

I managed to keep it to 2 nights of wine last week too, we split a beer last night, so that's 1 for this week!

There is a fire pretty close by, at Boomtown, it's at mile 4, and we're around mile 13, so pretty close...the smoke looks nasty, and I hear they closed 80. hope that gets taken care of soon!

My scale numbers have been creeping up a bit...might have to cut back on that night snacking again! It does add up!

I missed a day of yoga (the gym was closed for the holiday) and a day of CrossFit this week, I really wanted to get more done a work last night, so I stayed over there and got more of my work stuff done. I have a 2 week vacation coming up, and really want to be caught up as much as I can before then.

Slow is probably best anyway, I'm guessing the asthma really affected your ability to hit your numbers, it would for me!

I've made my classes this week, will hit it tonight as well, they've been good! I was running late yesterday, slept in! but still made yoga.

Good Monday Morning Goalies!

Kay- Haha...shot of scotch, Sometimes, it's just right! Last scotch I had was with Kelpie! But last night!
And you met your goal! Good for you!

OK...I feel MUCH better, asthma calming down VERY well. Yay! Finally!
I also am officially down 2 lbs from back when we started...wow...that took a long while.

All weeks seem so challenging for me these days. Am I a baby? Why??? I am trying to collect myself, let's see if I can do this. I am walking in the AM, lot's of outdoor chores in full swing, and did I mention peaches are starting..haha...
Vitamins and water are going in well.

Kay- Great news you made it to Cross Fit! Consistency, keeping at it. Well done. Ahhh...massage, sauna...nice...good good.
My morning walk buddy is from Canada, and has her own sauna in the yard. Have you ever thought about adding one> Really low maintenance and not that expensive to build. I read an article awhile back, I think from Norway...(def a Scandinavian study) and what they found was that those who use a sauna 3-4 days a week had the lowest risk for heart conditions. It's like a workout for the body. I know you have the hot tub, that is also supposed to help. Just for sitting about! Haha...

Kelpie- Oh yes...'your' cheese...wow...I have such clear memories of the cheese J brought to the table. One of these days...I want to come back...maybe after you two retire. Fun, yes? Relax, more time...I love you my friend. Cheese Cheese Cheese...yes...hard to resist in your neck of the woods!

Me- Much much better! Not 100%, going slower and appreciating an inhaler that works better, yes! I only had to do it 3 times yesterday. Emotions, likely added to upper respiratory to push me over the edge. Coming back! Yay.

Slow but sure. Turtle mode!

Well, I made it to Monday CrossFit! emoticon And ran in to yoga this morning (I'm off today, so I didn't have to do all the "prep" to make it to yoga and work). I feel like I could make that happen at least once a week again.

Today is my monthly sauna/massage day, so looking forward to that!

Good Morning Team Goalies!

Kelpie, Jo, Kay and MAry- Yes...Emotions...I have had some hard things of late and the accumulation has a huge affect. I did have he virus, but the asthma kicked in hard. Our pollen count has been high...

OK...I feel better! Thanks fr the encouragement ladies!
But...the biggest thing I did was open a new inhaler! The other one was sill not 'out of date', but I had not used it since last year. My goodness, I had huge improvement with the new inhaler. Too bad they meds are so costly, and to only use 1/4 and toss...ack!...but wow huge difference in 1 day.
I feel like I am on my way again. Not going to take off running...honest. :)

Keplie- Oh yes...those 3 ch's...I am good about eh chocolate and wine. but cheese...a real downfall.

Kay- ah...yes...consistency. I like how you mention keeping fatigue in check. This has been a huge challenge for me this past year. Not sure yet how to get this 'in check'. I do walk most days about 3 miles as a starter, sometimes more. And biking to work...well..it's the way back that's a challenge yes?

Jo- You getting out today to do some miles??

Yes yes yes yes...Let's keep going!
Haha...I am restarted. ;)

Maui, hope they manage to control it soon. My asthma can be triggered by both exercise and emotion, as well of course of pollen, smoke etc. So look after yourself!

Yes Kay, when I've been measuring it's been an eyeopener! That little bit of cheese....gosh! And a second piece......don't go near it! To say nothing of the chocolate..... and the chardonnay (or whatever other wine) emoticon The 3 ch's, only in moderation! And flexible, yep, adjust to the lifestyle.

Let's keep this going ladies, we can do it!

emoticon Kelpie, tracking can be eye opening!

Maui, uncontrolled asthma? Tough nut to crack there...sorry it's keeping you indoors, is the the air outside? Too much pollen or something like that? Hope that gets better soon, so you can get back out there!

I skipped my Monday CrossFit (again) emoticon so I'm trying to keep an eye on that, don't want to slip into the habit of skipping classes...I feel like the consistency is what keeps me moving forward. I also realized that since I've been doing my morning yoga classes I've pretty much stopped my running in to work. Especially this winter it was just so hard to leave early enough, and then by the time I got there I was already tired, and struggling to do the class. I feel like my yoga is no longer a struggle, but I do miss my "trail commute". I may try riding my bike in and see how that goes.

I may switch the wine challenge to 2 or 3 glasses a week, not that going from nightly to 2 nights was all that hard, but then when social occasions come up, I'd like that flexibility to not feel like I'm failing my challenge. Gotta be flexible too!

Kelpie- Hello there...yes...cheese...harder for me than chocolate. Good to see you here.

I am still struggling...cough is from uncontrolled asthma. Yes...I am doing all my meds...I just need to rest and stay calm and indoors...lol....not my thing. I tried hard yesterday to stay inside, and about 4pm...bolted outside, pulled onions, parnips and carrots...hubby was repairing a deck corner underneath where a ground squirrel had dug and entrance. I could not resist. I am trying to be good.

I ended up with 3 days of wine/beer last week and missed a day of workout, and this week is starting out the same! I skipped XFit last night, was tuckered out from work! Our computers were down, and we are having to clean out offices for a move coming up, so there was a lot of physical work to be done. Lots of cleaning/purging of stuff we don't need. At least my fitbit was happy!

Headed to yoga soon, at least I can stick to that!

Hey there goalie buddies!
Good to see you are all doing so well...one of these days I will join you more...

Jo- Yep...new month! Wow...here we are...I have been going for an early morning walk. Not too fast, maybe 3 miles in an hour. Got be careful with my lungs apparently.

Kay- herbs and berries...Great antioxidants and fiber, low glycemic index...and Yummy!

Mary- Still on track! Good for you!

Eating veggies the best way to supplement our meals.

It was mentioned about the real labor that can be involved in garden work...hehe...I did enough on Friday to make my triceps sore! Compost turning, dirt moving...yep. And I have been carry buckets of water out front to water a few plants that seem to need an extra drink. Heavy buckets! I stopped in time to not hurt my back. I listen to my back...so far so good.

Goals...hmmm...there is so much to do and I am really coughing...Yesterday and last night...not good. I just read that thyme tea or cooler as gargle can be very helpful for bronchitis...I have water heating...gonna make some tea. Yep, taking it easy today, reading! (well...and cooking)
Oh yea...goals...I need to get better, water, rest, keep asthma calm!!!

I try to get a serving or 2 of fruits/veggies with every meal and snack. I like the idea of getting the servings in early too!

Made it to CrossFit yesterday, it was a small class, coach said the early classes were fuller, and a lot of folks were doing the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey. That's one of those team races, it sounds like fun, in a way...but also a big time commitment.

I got some herbs and planted those, maybe I can keep them alive! I also got 3 tiny strawberries from my yard! they were tasty, I added to some berries I got from the store for breakfast.

Kay you're doing more that just hanging in there!

Jo - love the activity plan! What fun!

I'm excited about the new month too!

We can do this!

I'm still on track to meet my weight goal on July 10. Yoga has been great (even though our teacher has started using me as the example of how not to do poses! it's ok - I'm there to learn!) and I've added lots of stretching at home on my own - I feel longer and stronger already.

I'm working hard at eating lots of veggies early in the day - when I plan to eat them late in the day it often doesn't happen and I don't meet my nutrition goals. So this is the focus I'm adding for this month.

Enjoy the weekend!

Pura vida!

I should get to CrossFit tonight, then it will be like last week, 2 days of CrossFit, 2 days of yoga. I missed Monday since we went mountain biking, so not a fitness miss...

Seedlings are in the ground/pots, not sure they are all happy, but I did what I could! Survival of the fittest, I guess. Maybe one or 2 will make it! I should get to a garden store this weekend and look for some hearty plants to put in.

I had wine and beer on Sunday at my sisters, and wine on Wednesday too, so that's my 2 days for this week.

Hanging in there!

Hey ladies,

Kay I feel your pain - I have been a bad seedling mom many times - we've had some pretty hot sunny days here lately so I've been thinking about you when I put my seedlings out into the "real world" for the first time - this week I put some little seedlings in small pots so I can move to shade (or inside) when it's really sunny. I'll transplant when they're bigger and are enjoying their new climate.
Great job with everything else - wine, fitness, weight! emoticon

Maui - yes take it slow and easy! Sounds like you're in constant motion these days so surely the scale will be your friend this week!

Jo - thought up a new plan yet?

I'm doing ok...missed yoga yesterday because of graduation but I will be at class in the morning and I'll do some yoga on my own this weekend...just threw out a small bag of junk from a shelf in our little sun/mud/tool room...baby steps!

Pura vida!

Okie doke...I am trying to re-set and regroup. And...I will need to pace myself...
I of course gained while sick. I think when I lay down....my metabolism just haults...I have to move!!!! Anyhow, I am trying to stay positive and more ahead.

Goals- drink enough water, pace myself (Not too much too fast!), enjoy the garden. walk every morning...basics first.

2 days of yoga, 2 days of CrossFit for the week, almost made that goal!

No plants in the ground, it may not happen, since they all seem to be dropping away...I'm not a good seedling mom!

1 day of wine this week, Wednesday, and we're headed to the neighbors tonight for my second, so I'll skip Saturday. Amazed that I'm not missing it on the "off" days!

My weight has been hovering closer to the middle of my range, so happy with that too.

Kelpie- Wonderful! This is so encouraging...and yes...ch ch ch...no!
What a great way to start this summer. I know you have a lot on your emotional plate , but this is a nice gift to yourself. Helps with feeling better, yes?

Mary- I appreciate how you are resetting your goals and heading forward. You too...landmark month in your life . Hold on tight to those moments and get ready for the new adventure ahead for you too! Some of my absolutely favorite memories with my children, are visiting them on campus during their university time. CRAZY fun! Do it as often as he will allow. We bought season tickets for football for one son at CAL (After we found he was attending games) (He never attended football games before) We'd travel to games, he'd watch with his friends and we'd be in our seats, but we'd meet up before and after the game...have dinner, his pals would join us...special times.

Kay- Wow...so glad the bum is feeling better...whew. (Of course I was worried...hehe...) Good to hear you are back at CF and all...this weather????? Hot , cold, windy...what the heck???

I am still sick..bleh...I suspect I am trying to not get pneumonia right now. What the heck??? I a using my inhalers and trying to stay ahead. No fever. I am keeping my fluids up...
With my Lupus etc...this is a weakness and why I try to NEVER get sick!!! It's been a very long time since I have ...yep...trying to not feel sorry for myself.

Goals will be reset soon I hope. right now...rest.

Way to go Kelpie! emoticon

So I've failed pretty miserably at my goals - except the weight loss but that was because I couldn't physically eat for days and my appetite is just now coming back.

I'm dumping my walking goal for now. Keeping the old goal of getting rid of something not useful or beautiful every day. My new goal is to go to yoga class at least twice a week.

Baby steps. 2 small doable goals for the next couple of weeks and I'll build from there.

Y'all are doing great with your activity! Very motivating!

We can do this!

So keeping the ch's down, cheese and chocolate, as well as the wine, seems to be way for me to go.

Going to my first aquadance this morning, we'll ee how it goes.

Let's do it ladies!

Made it to CrossFit today after missing Friday and Monday....and yoga yesterday. I should be able to finish the week, my bum is healed (thankfully!) so just have to keep smart about the training and not injure myself again!

Tonight is my wine night! It's actually been 7 days since I've imbibed, since I ended up having wine on Monday and Wednesday last week. So there's that!

Still no seedlings in the garden, and they are wilting pretty quickly...I'm not sure if I waited too long, or if they just don't like the sudden heat wave. I hope some of them survive...

You all are doing great, nice inspiration in this thread! emoticon

Jo- You are definitely getting in some miles! Fabulous.

Kelpie- Oh my yes...beautiful where you live. Many temptations. Wine, cheeses, smokes fishes, hillsides to climb or parasail off, lakes to swim in, so so much more. HAppiest cows I have ever seen.

Keeping the colors going. I got outside today...the sun felt good.

To say nothing of the temptation of wine!

Yes, a lovely country, I am very very lucky. I live just outside Annecy, here's a little look at it. Inspiring, no? www.francethisway.com/places/annecy.

The dog is helping to keep my steps up, but I haven't done much aqua.

Trying to only have cheese as a treat, hard here in the Alps, and chocolate as an ever rarer treat, hard too, we're not too far from Switzerland!

Let's keep all those wonderful colours in sight.

We can, oh yes we can! emoticon

The surgery went well, even though it was delayed a bit, the surgeon said what he had done last time to stimulate the damaged joint had mostly filled in (80%) and he cleaned up the "fluffy" part as well. So now we just have to wait until he's healed, and see how it goes. It should help the ankle pain.

I mentioned to Larry that I was cutting the wine back to twice a week, and he said he wants to join me in that! It's really great that pretty much every change to my eating I've made, he's joined in on. It does make it so much easier when your partner is on the same journey as you are.

I worked on the yard today, so it looks pretty good, still need to get the seedlings in the ground/planters, but I should have time tomorrow or Monday. It seems to be a good weekend for yard stuff!

I didn't make CrossFit yesterday with the surgery going so late, but I'm good with that, I did make 2 days of that and 2 days of yoga, not bad!
