Hello All,

Hope everyone has a beautiful day. The weather here in Maine is just great. The temperature at 10:00 am is 72 outside. It sometimes has a breeze and other times it doesn't. Either way it is still great weather. I wish it could stay this way all the time.

Welcome to the team, Christina. I am sure you will find this team to be very helpful no matter what.

Best wishes to all.

Good morning all. Another hot one here in Texas. No particular plans for the day. Just sparking along as usual.

Linda - hope your sleep was sound and restful.

Kris - your experiences put you in the 'trust me' category quite frequently. How fortunate for the rest of us. Thanks for paying your dues and sharing with us.

Linda - amongst other things one of my brother's has a degree in is a Master's in Business Administration. He taught it at Uni - along with some other classes he also had good degrees in (Medical Laboratory and Medical Bio-Chemistry). The Business Admin is a good move for your son, whether he gets work in this field or not!

I was concerned to read about your reaction to the TV. You have been to Mexico every year previously and enjoyed it, so why wouldn't you now? You have overcome those little "hiccups" previously with common sense. These things can happen any where at all. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy would be really good for you if you're having these sorts of reactions! Hopefully you talk this through with your counsellor!

Georgine - Hope your lunch with your daughter went well!

Vicki - Sounds like you are having quite a Celebratory time of it lately:-)

Christina - welcome to our team! It's nice to have you here - just join in whenever you want - we will look forward to it!

Michelle - RMA is an acronym for a lot of different types of work - is yours Registered Medical Assistant? You will soon get VERY used to your youngest being at school - trust me :-) A lot of the feeling uncomfortable with a new job is actually being afraid of the unknown. Once you have gotten used to it it will be like a second home! Trust me on that one, too:-)

Oh I see. Michelle- I think you should wait a little while to go back to work until you're less depressed and had a chance to work out your feelings about your daughter, Then it will probably be really good for you to make the lonely days better to be around people at work as scarey as doing it might be. Also you will make mistakes, every body does, you can't be perfect,we are only human. It will also be alot of stress lifted with more money coming in like you say. Is it a Registered Medical Assistant is that what it means?

Warming the milk releases tryptophan which is a sleep aid. Its found in a few foods, turkey being one of them. Thats why everyone crashes after Thanksgiving dinner! LOL

Hi Michelle! Take it one little step at a time. Worry accomplishes nothing and actually gets you agitated for no reason. Enjoy getting your little one ready for her 1st day of school and deal with that first. Then take a small bite of the job search. There are programs specifically to help one re-enter the work force. (What is an RMA?) At any rate don't stress over the whole enchilada just now. Take it one step at a time and, bittersweet though it may be, enjoy getting her into school and applaud her independence as she matures.

Hello everyone just thought I would come in here and vent a little hope that's okay. Things in my life are getting ready to change ALOT and I don't think I'm dealing with it well. In just a little over a week my kids will start back to school and my daughter (our youngest) is starting school for the first time. This is of course bittersweet since she's our baby and also because where she was born prematurely we've coddled her a bit more so the thought of sending her off is worse than normal for me. Also at the same time we've always said I would go back to work when all the kids were in school and that is of course very soon. So I will be looking for a job. I don't mind the work I actually look forward to it (I'm a RMA) but I get so nervous when I have to deal with new people, new situations, etc. The thought of job interviews and messing up and fitting in is hard for me. Plus I've been a SAHM for quite awhile and knowing I wont' be at home like this anymore, the thought of our schedules, etc changing it's just a lot. I know the money part will help with our financial situation and that will be nice cause finances are really bad right now.

Okay sorry to blather on I'll go for now. Thanks for listening and hope you all are well!

Hugs,
Michelle

What have you heard about the trouble in Mexico around Cancun? This was really scarey to me because it was the federalies that did it and it was near the border. We drive around all over in isolated areas and last year we got stopped by a corrupt police officer who tried to get our money but we told him we would go to the police station and pay and we never would come back and we would tell everyone else not to come here and then he told us it was our lucky day and let us go. That wasn't the first time we've been stopped either

Wow Vicki, I am ready to take your advice too. Just had a "conversation"?? with my hubby still trying to justify his DWI til i finally said I will not continue this conversation. Linda, what can i say? Things sound good for you. You have helped me so much, tv is so lousy now and scary and depressing on some of those programs. Know that we are all with you and caring, Vickis's advice is good too. Hope you can relax now and have a good nite. Georgine emoticon emoticon emoticon

Try a cup of warm milk with a little cinnamon right before bed. Turn the radio to a station with all soft music and think of your DS when he was a baby. That should direct your attention to something with pleasant thoughts associated. Focus on being relaxed. Take deep breaths. Post again if you want to talk. I'll be here for a while yet.

I don't know why my pychological symptoms always show up on Friday nights or the weekend when I can't get ahold of my doctors. I think I'm really paranoid and I'll probably be too scared to sleep.

Dearest Linda. Sorry your distress was triggered by the events and story you saw on tv. DH was a good man to give you the comfort zone you needed. As for Mexico it is indeed more dangerous in some places than it used to be. Mostly along the border. My SIL and all her friends go often (in fact just got back) and they had a ball. Its just a matter of where you go love. Try not to personalize stuff you see on tv. It really isn't a good thing to do and makes you crazy for no reason. Be safe and be good.

I'm so upset right now. I watched two very disturbing things on tv today. One was on facebook affairs and another was on dateline, a kidnapping of a family and near murder in Mexico. I go to Mexico every year and my husband is on facebook now. I don't know why I do this to myself when its clearly bad for me, but I do it over and over again. I don't think I'll ever be able to go to Mexico again and I've already made my husband show me his facebook page and go through it with me.

Hi Christina! Welcome to the team and to this thread. You're always welcome here no matter your topic. There's usually someone around so you don't have to wait long for a response. Hope the pain in your shoulder blades has gone by now. I hate it when I get that. For me its usually from being at the computer too long or mega stress.

Good Friday all! Had a lovely anniversary yesterday with DH. Celebration continues next weekend when we go to New Orleans again. Ate out last night and stayed in range. Felt pretty proud cause I still had all kinds of food I like. Stayed away from the entrees as they are usually so large and calorific.

Georgine - the garden is a wonderful place to work off frustrations. Before I was disabled to the point I am now I loved getting my hands dirty and seeing the beautiful results. Don't overdo and enjoy yourself. Glad you're feeling wonderful. I agree that the post office should be able to accept a change of address order for you Mum's mail and just put your address on it. She can sign during a lucid time if that's necessary and it wouldn't upset her. One of her other caregivers may even be able to introduce the idea. Hmmm?

Linda - glad DS is taking action. And how wonderful his med is only $4.00. Sounds like things are coming together. Can he stay with your Mom or sister while going to school? Will he be getting a job close to where he's living so he can have a bit of money while going to school. That would make a great contribution to his independence. Even MacDonalds or something would help.

WINDSONG22 - I am really sorry to hear of the loss of your job:-( Perhaps you could ask her to put in writing WHY she dismissed you. I did that once and it was vERY beneficial for me :-) Are there working people around you who have dogs? If so, perhaps you could ask if they would like someone to take them on regular walks in return for a small fee? That would kill a couple birds with one stone, so to speak :-) If the headaches are frequent, get them checked out.

Georgine - are you able to put a redirection order in to the Post Office so that all correspondence address to your Mum is re-directed to you?

Vicky - I was wondering what you were talking about when you mention "Hump Day". - it took a while to twig - LOL :-)

Linda - what is your son hoping to study at college?

Right now it looks like my son won't be going into the military but has talked to a college and filling out paperwork so that is a relief. I think he's had enough bad work experiences now that he'll really try to make a go of it. He probably will need lots of help though but they probably have it. He put in his 2 week notice so it looks good. I also priced Ritalin at Walmart and its only $4 so thats a good thing too. Have a good night everyone.

Hi all! Just taking a break from the garden. I sure misjudged the temps as did inside stuff in the morning hours when it was nice and cool and then after lunch went out to weed and it is close to 80 but just take my time. Hubby went to his dr appt. as I didn't want to stop to shower to go. All I need to know is what med changes there might be. Once again i feel better about everything after being busy in the garden so will have to start an exercise plan each day to keep coping in a better way. Hope everyone is having a good or better day. Rain is forecast for the next 4 days but hope it is not all day every day. I still have to get rid of those wasps, will get some wasp spray later and keep my distance in the meantime. Hi all! Done with work for the week and today is a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze and no humidity, love it! If i can find the energy i will visit my mother again. They gave her a xanax before i got there yesterday so she was so much nicer to be with. i dislike the meds but would rather her have them and feel relaxed rather than the extreme agitation she experiences otherwise and I can't handle it then. I always tease the help, either give her the xanax or give it to me. I am just teasing. My mother is in such a nice new place and I know a lot of the residents yet and a lot of the help, she gets excellent care and they all call her Auntie Flo. I haven't heard from my daughter so am a little annoyed but will talk to my granddaughter and go from there. I am determined to face August and stay on a good program no matter what I have to cope with. So many good people in Sparks and so much help and i still start off with a bang and then fizzle when "things" happen. Have a good day everyone, Georgine emoticon

Wishing all a good and pleasant 'Hump Day'. The beauty of it is that this translates to the rest of the week all being downhill. Take off the brakes and coast.

Hello All,

Thank you for the well wishes, while I was in the pool. It did do me a lot of good to be in it. I am now happy that I went.

My thoughts and hope go out to all of you. I wish that everything will work out the best. Sometimes it just takes some time.

I wish you all the BEST.

Hope you all can enjoy your day.

Best wishes to all.

Hi all! Hot and humid again, ick! Linda, what good news about your son , be proud and hopeful! I am sorry to read about the job problems, especially when one finds one they like and then lose it. Hopefully there is something similar that will turn up. i hope the apt. problem is getting resolved. Upsets me when I read about anyone of us being victimized, that should never happen. I haven't checked on Robin to day yet, not looking forward to visiting with my mother, it has been very depressing but will give it one more shot later. Then more mail being sent to her instead of me, such stupidity to send it to my mother with advanced Alzhiemers and MD. I am not running up there every day to visit and check the mail. They want it done or paid, send it to the one who takes care of that, GRRR! More gov't intelligence at work. i hope things go well for everyone the rest of the week, or at least go better. I know it is not always easy to have a happy day when feelings or happenings don't go well. Take care everyone. I think about all of you and hope for good things. Georgine emoticon

I have been looking since 2007. In that time, I've had only three interviews, and one was by phone. :(

I'm plugging away, though. Thanks.

Dot - hope the pool relaxes you enough to get rid of the pain. Take care dear friend.

Windsong - when you calm down you may want to find out why the witch gave you walking papers. The why will help you on the next job. Sounds like she's schizo to me. Rant and rave and vent all you want. That's what we're here for. Then tomorrow put on your big girl panties and hit the job market again. Your perfect job really is waiting for you. Hugs.

Linda - between mental and physical exertion some days the body says 'Stop' and gives itself a rest. Take your well deserved rest and enjoy the peace. I do know how difficult it is to get into college but some counselor in admissions somewhere will give him a shot. I have a grandson and a nephew both who are taking a 'trial' semester and if they make the grade they are in. I think your son could cut that easily now he knows he's got what it takes and is on meds. If he has trouble paying for the meds be sure and have him check with the manufacturer and the pharmacy about programs that help uninsured individuals pay for their meds. There is help out there if needed.

Bittercat - sorry you hate your job. Why not look now while you're employed? For some reason people in that situation are luckier. Just be sure they know NOT to contact your present employer, and don't badmouth the job you've got. Good luck, sweetie.

Windsong, I'm really sorry about your job. In some states, wrongful termination is...questionable. Not a crime, but if you were to file for unemployment, you might have a case. Unfortunately, it does not sound like you were there long enough.

I really hope you find something else soon. I DO have a job, but I hate it, so I can imagine how great it would be to find a job that I love.

Good luck!

Windsong, we posted at the same time. I'm sorry about your job. Thats really awful that that happened to you. I know around me that those kind of jobs (humane society Types)open up all the time. I used to volunteer there. I think its because its tough work to have to see bad stuff happen to animals. Maybe you can find another one like it. Keep trying and don't give up. We care about you.

Hi everybody,
I just woke up,pretty late for me but all this activity must of really wore me out. Yeah my head is pretty big over my son and he also tested great on his college entrances but his GPA is so poor that he's having a hard time getting accepted in college but will keep trying. I hope the medicine begins to work for him soon and that its not too expensive. I think he will be able to go on my husbands medical insurance sometime because of this new health plan till he's 26 but don't really know when or anything about it. I'll have to check into it. I just read about a zennioptical.com where you can get glasses for $8 if anyones interested. One lady has gotten 4 pairs through them that are good. Also groupon.com where they send you emails in your city about deals near you at restaurants or stores, gas stations. I haven't checked these out but thought I'd pass on the information. I'm just laying low today trying to get my energy back. Have a great day everyone.

As I write this, I am crying my poor little eyes out and cursing like a sailor. I am full of hurt and fury. I don't know what else to do. I have this horrible urge to just run off and never come back because I am so sick of this. As some of you might know, I found a job very suddenly about 3 weeks ago. I was offered, I took it because I needed the money and it involved dogs. I'm a super animal lover. Yesterday I had to miss work because I had a migraine from hell. It was gone today so I get up, I get ready and I go. The owner was there. She gave me my check from last week and then goes into this speech about how she's worried about me, how she thinks it's too hot and all this other nonsense. So, you guessed it...I got fired. FOR NO REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate her so much. I mean, I knew she was psycho and I knew I never really liked her, but I put up with it because I actually loved the job. The other jobs I've left I didn't care about, let alone cry over, because I was the one who quit. I felt angry, sure, but not sad. Honestly, the bad thoughts are flowing again. The rage is out of the cage and I want so bad to do something violent to either her or myself. I'm just being honest here. I won't actually do anything. I'll just curse and cry and fume. It's what I always do, so don't worry. But I just can't believe this. A job I could see doing for a long time and actually loved doing, and the psycho owner decides to fire me for absolutely no real reason. Okay, guess I'm done venting. I just can't believe this is happening. . .

Tiffany

Depression is anger without the motivation.

I think depression runs rampant in society today because we are all so obsessed with making a living instead of living our lives.

Live your dreams, it's not as hard as it may seem...On your hopes you must lean...From your fears you have to wean yourself.

Hello All,

Hope everyone can enjoy their day. I think the weather today is going to be good. There is no rain in the forcast for today.

I have to go to pool therapy today, but really don't feel like it today. I am hurting more today, and I don't know why. Maybe once I get in the pool it will take my pains away. One can only hope that it will.

Best wishes to all.

Good Tuesday to all. Missed all notifications of Forum topics yesterday and again this a.m. Have come in through the back door to check on everyone.

Georgine - I'm sure its either 'feast or famine' with the tourists in town. The blueberry fest sounds wonderful. I love them but they are always expensive down here in Texas. I'm thinking I'll try growing some next year just for fun. Glad DD could go back to work. Sometimes that is very good for you.

Linda - Wow!~ Must be reassuring to learn DS has the ability and that he will now get meds to deal with the ADD. Hopefully that will put him on the right track now and he'll be more responsible with the meds on board. I know you're relieved and proud of his genius status. Many children with that advantage have difficulty in school as they are just plain bored and tune out the class material. I had a DS that way and have a grandson who just graduated that had the same problem. He tested great for college entrance but has lousy GPA since he was 'tuned out' most of the time.

Hope the difficulty with the man in the apartments is being resolved. Getting with the social worker will alert the proper people of the seriousness of this situation. Living in disabled housing does not mean its ok to live with fear. Before considering moving I think its worthwhile to try and get help from the social worker.

Wishing all a peaceful Tuesday filled with productivity and happiness. I'll try to be back later.

LINDABEAR3 - with meds on board you son may even become a young man to be EXTREMELY proud of. I am glad that those tests were done. I could see your head drifting by in the clouds :-)

With regard to the man coming in uninvited, I am NOT saying that it is the case here, but with SOME places that are set up for those with disabilities, depending on what the disability is, they may not be allowed locks on the doors. Sort of like a half-way house. Sometimes the "apartments" are actually a "bedsitter" with an ensuite. IF this is the case here, it may be why the police are rather loathe to step in. IF this is also the case here, then ensure that a Social Worker is informed and acts on your behalf, because it may be that it isn't the appropriate place for this man to be - it may be that he needs a little more secure housing!

good news about your son Linda, glad you had a good time too!! I forgot to say my daughter was offered counseling but that day she was so upset all she wanted to do was go home. She made it thru work til 3 but still not feeling well. Hope we find out something at her next appt. I have to add to the apt. thing. If someone comes uninvited into my home that is a crime and the law steps in, why is it not something the law covers in an apt??!! Since when is it the management of the apt. building to do the policing or why don't the police see that it is taken care of?!! Sorry to go off on a tangent about it but it bothers me that nothing is being done about it! That is her home and he is trespassing. Well, I hope it is being resolved in a good way, I sure am thinking about you. emoticon Georgine

Just got back from my weekend away.Just wanted to tell you I had fun ,it was a beautiful wedding with more food than I've ever seen at a wedding. THey fed us 3 different times. Neither of her parents have money either but was a great fun time. Then the party today went really well too. I am tired but did just find out that my son took an IQ test and an ADD test and turns out he's a genuis and diffenately has ADD. The doctor told him to get his butt in college, after he gets medicine he should be able to focus. Some good news. He has always gotten bad grades because he could never focus. We had a doctor look at him when he was in first grade and the doctor told us he didn't have it then so we always though he just didn't want to do the stuff but medicine should solve it. We could tell he had some brains though but genius, he got it from me.ha ha. Plus the doctor is going to give him a good deal(no insurance). Have a good night, I'll try to catch up tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday. I am working a lot more than I like but this is still a tourist town so there are more people and more to do. We had our big Blueberry Fest so the town was overflowing, glad that is over tho enjoyed the food and did shop a little. I buy a t-shirt every year and this was 30 years, I missed the first one. It is so hot and humid here I can't wait for Wed. when it is supposed to be 75! 85 today, too much for us northerners with the humidity. My daughter did go to work today, I will see her later. Will stop and see my mother first. Hubby has tests and doctor before hernia surgery. Sometimes I don't know which way is up! Also, aren't there laws these buildings have to comply with as far as anyone acting like this man has been?? I never heard of a place not having to deal with it to protect the other tenants. If this man can't live properly in society he needs to be somewhere where he can get help, not left running amuck and scaring people. And aren't there locks on apt. doors?? There must be some place to get help if management refuses to take action. No one should have to live in fear like that. Hope some help comes your way soon. Best I get moving tho don't feel like it much. emoticon

Hello All,

Bittercat, I too have found my special guy. We meet in 1994. We too had been both in bad relationship prior to meeting. He is my loving and caring man and I couldn't be any happier then I am right now.

So, I know exactly how that is. You are a very lucky. Men like him is far in between.

I wish everyone to have a good day. It is great outside today. No humidity and cool air.

Best wishes to all.

Imagingpro, thank you. He is the best thing that's ever happened to me. We had both been through very bad relationships and experiences when we met in 07, so we have helpeed each other to heal. He's really a gem.

TLynn, I really hope you can convince management to let you lock your door if they are not going to do anything about this. Mental illness or no, this man needs to be kept away from other people. It is unacceptable to me that they won't do anything. If it's manageable, moving may not be a bad idea. I will also second the suggestion that you talk to a social worker.

Good luck!

TYLYNN61 - I would be inclined to contact Management each time he does this. You keep a record of it too for future reference.
