Hey Guys!

Losing weight and getting into better shape isn't always that easy, but I don't think it's the toughest thing to do in the world either. Almost anyone can get into better shape, provided that the environment exists and a person is motivated to reach their goals.

For most people, including myself, motivation is the key. Sometimes it's easy to get distracted from doing what's best for us, and when that occurs, we can do better when someone else can help remind us of our goals and encourage us to succeed in reaching them. In addition, it can be a lot more fun and interesting to work with someone else rather than struggle thru this on your own. After all, that's really the reason we all joined SPARKpeople in the first place, right?

Motivation works best for me when you're accountable for what you do. Therefore, I'm proposing the following:

- Form a small group of people, who are accountable, open, honest, and committed to losing weight and improving their health
- Each person in the group sets their own goals
- Everybody in the group is connected to everyone else, so that progress (therefore accountability) can be monitored
- To prevent losing interest, daily contact is to be made by all group members, including weigh-ins and progress towards goals
- Each person would have the option of setting rewards for reaching their goals

I would be tracking everybody's progress also, and put out weekly updates so that it's clear to everyone how the group is doing.

If members of the group can't be motivated and lose interest or stop participating, they would be bumped from the group and new members would be added.

I think similar groups to this have been formed in the past. I have no idea how well they worked. But my feeling is that a small group would work better than only working with one other person, and I'd like to see how it goes.

IS ANYONE OUT THERE INTERESTED? If so, I'd love to hear from you and get this started. Sooner is better than later, as the group will close once enough people sign on to this (I'm thinking of a group of 4 to 6?). Perhaps we'd have an ongoing 'waiting list' of prospective group members? Also, if you have ideas or ways to improve on what I'm throwing out there, let me know. I'm open to ideas within this general format...

Hope to hear from you soon...
