If you are eating clean most of the time a cheat meal is okay. I find that a cheat meal or even a cheat day (not too out of control though) once in a while is good for your metabolism-keeps it on it's toes. I also have issues with a cheat meal or cheat treat because I have some all or nothing thinking that gets me in trouble sometimes. It sounds like you have this under control though and it's a great way to spend quality time with your husband. Good luck!

My experience with cheat (I prefer to call them "splurge") meals is that they can set me off on a downhill spiral. Having said that, if I am able to understand that it's just a meal that's a LITTLE off course, not completely off the rails, I believe they can actually be good for people in more ways than one.

Sounds like your chicken pita is exactly that. If you completely cut out something you love, the liklihood that you will stick with your healthier eating plan goes down a great deal. As long as you can get right back on track the next time you eat, I wouldn't sweat it.

I've found if I eat higher in my calorie range one to two days a week, it helps my weight move, especially if I've hit a plateau. This doesn't mean to eat enough for two days, just at the top of the range to 200 calories over.

Doing my best...one day at a time.

Do you do cheat meals, like once a week? Every Thursday, hubby and I go to this restaurant for lunch together. They have this chicken breast pita sandwich that I love! Everything is pretty healthy except the pita, of course :) and I've stopped driking Coke, but I sure like Coke with this chicken pita!

What has been your experience with having cheat meals? Good for you or bad?
