Congratulations to all you wonderful people out there/over there with your RAOK - I feel humbled by your generosity! The most I managed was to be nice when driving the car, letting people in in queues - and that sort of thing, trying to curb my inner road rage - failed miserably

We got to shovel some snow in our driveway, and part of it intersected with our neighbors, soI did a little bit of his too...

We took Christmas dinner and a small Christmas tree to a homeless man we've seen around Guam who lives in an abandoned bus shelter. Such a poor soul. We are so blessed!

Merry Christmas!

All family again today, but when we went to our Christmas eve mass, there was a family that has not been back to church for a long time that came in and I just wanted to hug them for coming back....instead I just greeted them in near tears. I hope they felt welcomed back and repeat their visit.

Today we took plates of goodies to a couple of families we recently met on Guam. Not only did I get rid of some junk food, including some candy my mother-in-law sent, but we spread some holiday cheer.

Yesterday's random act was not to a stranger....my son called and wanted me to watch the baby for the afternoon and even though I had my whole afternoon planned...including needing to go mail packages 2nd day air...I said YES!

Today I have only been around family, but it is nice to just do things with them! Watching 27 Dresses with my future bride daughter and the rest of the family.....sometimes family love shouldn't be random.

Every year our someone from work gets together with someone from the area to help needy families in our area. She gets a list of names of family members and a gift on their wish list. She then puts their names on gift tags on the lunchroom Christmas tree so employees can pick a name (or a couple of names). We go purchase their wish list item(s). This year I picked the name of a little guy named Lorenzo and got him a few gifts that were on his list. There were more adults on the tree this year (their age is on the tag also). So, Lynette (whose name I picked) got a gift too!! The gifts are wrapped up and the tag is put onto the gift and given to the lady at work who collects and distributes.
We also collect money throughout the year doing Chili dumps, selling soups, desserts, etc. in the employee lunchroom. That money goes to the purchase of hams, turkeys, and other perishable and non-perishable items for these families at Christmas time. We usually end up 'adopting' 5-6 families. Extra items or left over monies go to providing additional food items for elderly in our area at Christmas. I would rather participate in giving this way than wasting money on some silly little gift for some non-appreciative member of my family. Siblings...OY!
Merry Christmas and Keep promoting ROAK!

I didn't cream the lady who cut me in the return line at Ross Dress 4 Less. How's that for a RAOK? emoticon I wouldn't have creamed here any time of the year, but it made me think of the times I did get hot under the collar when others did this to me in the past. Attitude is everything! Merry Christmas!

I had to go to the laundermat, and my items were dry but there was still 5 minutes on it; I stopped a young couple who was about to put their clothes in a cold dryer, and asked if they'd like my dryer as it still had time and was hot. They were appreciative!

I bought Christmas presents for a needy child in our community. It's feels really good to make sure that at least one child will have presents to open on Christmas morning. emoticon

You are all so motivating! I have been lurking but not posting on this week's challenge. Haven't been around strangers much... just those two long days at work and then here at home. I did brush two inches of snow off my son's truck this morning and warmed it up for him (not random and not a stranger) before he left for his class at 6:30.

I'm headed out to run some errands this morning... and I feel like I have a lot of time to make up for. I can hardly wait to perform my first RAoK today...

My random act of kindness today was chasing a runaway cart through the parking lot. I caught it inches before it slammed into some unsuspecting person's car. Thank goodness for that person, I lost weight and can run or that car would have had a big dent in the side of it!!!

Not much for random acts of kindness for me since I wasn't around people much today, but I did go in to work for a little while and had good conversation with 3 customers. I like to refer to it as cultivating business.

Got in my 8+ glasses, had ME time this morning writing out cards to my cousins and have done well with tracking. Other than the fact that my nose has been running constantly, I haven't had much exercise today.

The parking lot at Dollar Tree was quite full; I saw one open spot in front and otherwise would have to park way in the back. I saw the car behind me was an older lady so I motioned to her and gave her the spot, parked in the back to add a few more extra steps to my pedo!

Friday I went to a funeral service for someone that I really didn't know, but I do know his grown kids....the parents were divorced many years ago and he really didn't have much to do with his kids through the years. I guess I considered it a random gesture to attend the service.

Saturday I went shopping and opened doors for people and let people cross the road in front of me. I also helped someone find what they were looking for in the store.

Today, I'm not much of a public speaker, but I stood up at the baby shower and made introductions and thanked the committee of ladies for putting on the shower. Not too random, but I was proud to have done what I did.

Still getting my 8 glasses+ of water in, not tracking food, but I am conscious of it. Still whittling away at my list and Me time....failing miserably at that one!

Forgot to write here, yesterday I had to stop somewhere and the lady in front of me was short a quarter, so I gave it to her.
Today I made some little cookies for an elderly gentleman in our church who lives alone; we'll give them to him tomorrow...

This is really causing me to think. So far only have done nice things for people I know. Need to work on the "unknowns".

I made a plate for an older woman at a party, so she wouldn't have to get up and go through the line. Hmmm...was that a good thing or not? emoticon

Today I helped a new hire catch up on her orders when she got way behind.

Christmas day I'm bringing a gift for my brother's foster child who will be at the family gathering.

I need to look for more opportunities to help others daily...

I looked for RAOK opportunities all day yesterday for a stranger. I ended up copying some photos for a friend who had mentioned needing a photo to send his kids in his Christmas cards. He was sorry he didn't think of it sooner, and doesn't have a digital camera. We just so happened to have a photo of them that would work just fine.

Sounds like a plan! Today I stopped a client as she walked out the door. Always down and feeling very sorry for herself, I touched her shoulder, made her turn around, and gave her a hug. She needed it. I saw it in her eyes. It made me realize 'how much' she needed it.

Tomorrow, I have closed my business and am talking the day off work to join my sister and mother (also both taking the day off work) to go out and support a childhhood friend carry the Olympic torch in the relay. She is battling breast cancer which has spread to her liver, brain, lungs and bones. She is in her 30's and has a baby boy. Showing her support and being there for her is the least we can do.

We've been challenged to drink more water, keep a food journal, take 10 minutes a day for ourselves, and make a list and check it twice.

Well, this is it the final week of our holiday challenge. Have you got a plan for facing the holiday buffet tables and gatherings that are sure to include lots of food? Let us know how you plan to stay on the healthy track and...

In the spirit of the season, let's celebrate with random acts of kindness.

Wikipedia defines a random act of kindness as "a selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or in some cases an animal. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier."

It doesn't have to take much time or even cost you a dime. It can involve a total stranger or those who are a part of our daily lives. How about helping someone carry out their packages at a store or paying the toll for the car behind you in traffic? How about calling an old friend, giving a hug, words of encouragement to a teenager, or a note to a loved one slipped into an unexpected place?

Let's look for opportunities in the hustle and bustle of the coming week to make a difference in someone's life. Let us know how you are sharing the spirit of the season this week, and don't forget to do something nice for yourself too!
